  1. I don't think you really need to wait Stu. start passing round the hat for the poor victimised soul in all of this. While your at it you could see if anyone wants to contribute for the coach as well.
  2. Thompson is simply stating the obvious but, please go ahead, turn this into a Danny bashing thread to suit your own agenda. Players are paid to play and know themselves when they aren't up to standard. They aren't two year olds who need to be sent to the naughty corner to emphasise their shortcomings. If anything I think Steven is playing the part of players' media guru rather than pseudo-manager.
  3. I didn't realise they had changed the thread title to: "Lennon must go threads merged,,,, WAE EVERY OTHER PIECE OF NONSENSE"! Lennon should stay to see if he can turn things around. At least in the short term.
  4. Why? The ten thousand who galloped in, (sheep in hand ), for the freebie simply serves to prove the age old adage!
  5. If we are indeed to look at the "here and now" then we have had a poor start to the season with 3 defeats and a draw. Still time to pull it around. Now. What did you mean by "here and now"? i suppose that would be whatever suited your agenda?
  6. It's an invisible "coat" ..... NOT CAT!!!!!!!!!!!!! Meow.
  7. No. It means stats are unreliable and people use them for their own ends.
  8. This actually means that our results actually didn't significantly drop toward the end of the season. 12 points in 10 as opposed to 13 in the previous 10. Confirms the old adage that you get lies, damn lies and statistics.
  9. I put this out there on another thread but I feel I need to reiterate. People go on about the lack of victories at the sharp end of last season, (and I know I was in a wee bit of a panic at the time), but statistics are usable for all. Let's look at the facts. A few weeks before the cup final we were sitting reasonably comfortably after a 2-0 victory over Hearts on 17th Feb. We followed this up with a shocker on March 6. 2-1 reverse to Dundee. After this we had a run of 4 DRAWS. NO DEFEATS. Dundee did us again then we had two draws, one defeat and one win to finish the season That's 12 points from 10 games. Just to make it clear. It was not 10 defeats. It was 3. They say the devil is in the detail and I think this highlights this fact.

  11. It's come as no surprise to me that, over the last couple of weeks, this forum, and others, are flooded with Saints fans almost relishing our predicament. I have often been told by my fellow, non Paisley, Scots that we are renowned for our pessimistic outlook and lack of enthusiasm. The latter has certainly been proven unfounded as, going by the influx of posters thoughout all parts of the day, it appears our enthusiasm for pessimism knows no bounds. Never have I see these keyboard outlets so jam packed with Saints fans, mainly criticising the incumbent manager. One after another spreading doom and gloom, as if more was needed during the current crisis. If ever there was a whole support who could claim to be the perfect candidates to carry "The end is nigh" boards it is our collective. If this were to be turned into a play it would make Titus Andronicus appear more like a farce! people say to make a Paisley man smile you have to turn him upside down! Maybe it's time for many to take a step back, look at themselves, then actually realise that we could be in a far worse state of affairs. Time is still on our side. The apocolypse is not inpending, at least not apparently so. Turnarounds have happened much later in others campaigns so, instead of "Why", let's try, "Why NOT"! .......................... Just for a change.
  12. On this point Poz. IF Gus' team hadn't capitulated to 9 men, do you not think he would have been given a little more leeway the following season?
  13. I wasn't there but if Stephane missed a couple of chances it surely means he was getting into the right position to miss. As you say. Hope it's to do with ring rustiness.
  14. And talking of Newton. His first 45 minutes in a Saints' jersey didn't go too well.
  15. Saints0 (I suppose your pseudonym actually tells it's own story ) How many players, especially young lads, have you seen who don't play well in the first game yet go on to prove themselves invaluable to a team? I know I've seen many in my day.
  16. I WAS there and I tried my best to raise the voices positively. I also commented on here about the negativity of some around me. Yes. There was vocal support but, if you were there, you should have heard the berating of the team at half time. Not ideal for a bunch of players whose esteem is probably already at rock bottom Our support was only really vocal to drown out the away support and that was at 0-0. The past, though, is the past. We will, (99.9% sure) , have Danny at the helm v Motherwell and we need to do what little we can to raise the morale of our team. Surely, in this at least, you concur?
  17. I think you're being overly harsh on Marc. I felt that he too was guilty of trying to cover the very ineffectual Van Zanten and this left space in the middle which, contrary to what others say, I thought Goodwin made a real go at protecting. The great thing about footie though is that it can really be all about opinions.
  18. Reading all of this seems to indicate that there is indeed NO chance of the forumsters on this site supporting the team. It appears they can't even support each others point of view as to what that support entails.. If it is indeed to attempt to undermine an already underfire squad and management team then I would suggest those of that ilk have achieved the desired effect and can now desist. from all accounts Danny WILL be in charge of the next game and, save a complete overhaul using 17, 18 and 19 year olds, so will the players. Isn't it about time necks were retracted and we sent a clear message of "real" support, (remeber that? It was what gave them confidence to beat Aberdeen, Celtic then Hearts to realise their and our dream.), and ask them to play with heart, pride and, more importantly, without fear as we will be kicking every damn ball with them?
  19. With the players at our disposal I would be tempted to go with a 5-3--2 formation with Grainger and Caprice working the flanks and a wee bit of help for them by Teale and McGinn. McGinn certainly proved he could do this in the cup games. I'm sure Gary could do likewise. It would also allow for Goodwin's wee forays into midfield. Cornell Caprice McGregor Goodwin McAusland Grainger Teale McGowan/Harkins McGinn Thomson Bahoken
  20. Here was me thinking Craig was brought in as the "old head", helping the young manager along. Silly me! Edited to add. A lot of folk on here are commenting on the apparent lack of stamina in the team as a whole. training methods? Ignoring the respected assistant's advice/direction? You tell me.
