  1. Hard to choose our best centre back. Broadfoot probably edges it because of his form in 05/06 and 06/7 and what he went on to achieve after leaving us.Still had his mad moments though. McGregor pre injuries was looking near that standard too. Could have done with any of the 3 last season.
  2. I don't know why though its a bizarre one. He was immense in his first loan spell. In his 2nd spell i think you could count his incredible performances over 2 seasons on your 2 hands and thats being generous. The first half of his first season was a right off straight away. Obviously didn't get on with Danny but I don't think he applied himself 100% in every game. Normally Saints fans can sniff a player like that out from 100 yards ( see Harkins ). Scored spectacular goals once in a while. How many free kicks did he actually score from and how many assists did he provide? Not that many if i recall correctly. If we sign him and hes fully fit and applies himself 100% in every game then we have a great player on our hands. Thats the problem, if he did that he wouldn't have to play in the Championship. Left mid is a key position that needs filled though and some of his best performances came at left back so can fill in there. Could probably play in the wing back role which could be vital if Murray does go 3-5-2. Oh and he isn't Gregg Wylde. Overall I hope this is true and he signs.
  3. Ian Murray is a 3-5-2 manager according to Dumbarton fans.
  4. Exactly! How many local players have you seen over the years out and about on a Saturday night in Paisley? Or photos on twitter/instagram of nights out in Glasgow ect.
  5. I disagree. I don't think he came across as aggressive. I think he was being open and honest about his intentions and if anyone doesn't buy into it they shouldn't be at the club, that includes players who may be re-signing and new signings. Just think would could have happened last season if we appointed a manager with that sort of attitude in the summer. Chances are we wouldn't be sitting in the division we are in. Again with the training on a Sunday, that is up to him. He is letting any potential signing know what will be expected of them so they know what they are signing up for and there are no false pretenses.
  6. Yeah I've been a amber gambler on a couple of occasions and just made it but somehow the car behind and even sometimes 2 cars behind go through a red light. I think the traffic lights have a extra couple of seconds gap to take these idiots into consideration. The traffic lights at Buddies Bar are a nightmare. Always get some w@nk trying to cut in in front of you from the middle lane because they are too impatient to wait an extra minute. Next time it happens I am not slamming on the brakes .
  7. There is no such thing as a perfect driver we all have faults. Driving to Greenock on a regular basis is a great laugh . So much so I've bought a dash camera to record my journeys. My pet hate is lack of indicators at roundabouts/junctions and people who cruise at 40 in a 60 then continue to do 40 when it comes to a 30 zone.
  8. If it came down to renting our stadium out for 3 meaningless friendlies to 1 of the gruesome twosome and being able to afford to keep the grass pitch or not rent out the stadium to them but install a plastic pitch to bring in some £££ in a different way what would you choose? Hypothetical question, obviously.
  9. I think we are probably 3rd favourites but they odds are way too stingy. Should be looking for at least double that . I'd also have Hibs as slight favourites just now. They are getting their business done early. Carmichael and Keatings are great signings.
  10. Offt I would have thought you would have got a fairer deal than that Div. That's quite poor. Considering the majority of people going will already have season tickets. I'd say £85 a seat would have been more reasonable. The club would still make decent wonga off that.
  11. Can't wait to go back to Kirkaldy! What's the pubs like there? Never been old enough to drink when I've visited in the past. Shows how long we have been apart.
  12. I think we should be able to allow away fan families to mingle with home fan families in the family stand. Suppose all it takes is 1 idiot to say something stupid and the panda club could kick off and start a riot. I think a couple of other clubs do this so away fans can benefit from the same family discounts as the home fans.
  13. If Ciftci was a Saints player we wouldn't have been relegated this season. Good player but obviously has a horrible streak in him. Can't see him getting away scot free, 6+ game ban?
  14. Naismith,McGinn,Kelly did have poorer seasons. They were all due a dip in form, sadly it lasted near enough a whole season for all 3 of them and it cost us. What we have to ask is how did this happen? Was Tommy Craig to old school? He certainly didn't get the best out of them, they seemed to crumble pretty early into the season when we went on losing streaks. Naismith looked burnt out and we had to keep playing him because there wasn't an adequate enough replacement to give him a rest. It has taken all this time for the management to workout Kelly is a pretty decent central defender, why wasn't he played their earlier when we have been struggling all season at center half? Danny Lennon had the Scotland Under 21's, made McGinn captain, lo and behold he was man of the match and was in better form than usual for a few games. It was very clear we were going to rely a lot on young players this season, I don't blame them for relegation. I blame the board for choosing managers who couldn't get the best out of them. Tommy Craig didn't have the dressing room right from the beginning and it didn't take long for the fans to turn. Really felt sorry for the young players, they were on a hiding to nothing.
  15. We won't have the luxury of having 2 players per position. Looking for versatile players in the squad. Maybe not the best ability wise but players like Alan Reid are valuable at this level. GK, cb, lb , cm, lm , am , cf ( maybe 2 )
  16. He signed Chris Kane ( 20 ) on loan from the Perth Saints. He scored 10 in 18 last season and 5 in 10 this season. He also signed a young goalkeeper on loan from Aberdeen called Danny Rodgers ( 21 ) who has been a revelation for them. Stuart Findlay ( 19 ) signed on loan from Celtic in January, in 15 appearances he has won player of the month twice.
  17. Was it not Butcher's side kick who scouted they players and found some gems? Either way contacts or scouting both have been things we have lacked for years.
  18. Mendes was a judas scumbag who sold his soul when he went to Dunfermline. I'll never forgive him for that. It was glorious watching him get subbed off when he first returned to Love St . Nigel was only here for 1 season, no big deal. Good player on his day but doesn't have the ability or correct attitude to be able to hold clubs to ransom.
  19. The only way I wouldn't go back is if Nacho Novo was the new manager. It's still our club no matter who the manager is ( apart from the aforementioned rodent ). What about John Hartson? His name always pops up for these kind of vacancies. Hardly been mentioned this time.
  20. I think Butcher took over at Newport County very recently. Calderwood maybe but with all the cut backs we will be making I can't see the board going for him. Who knows though!
  21. I hate to say it but Billy Reid ticks more boxes than the others mention. He has experience of winning the Division and bringing through youth players. Might not be pretty but it would be effective.
  22. McParland,Stark, Burchill, Adams have been ruled out by Douglas McNeil. Who could the other options be? Ian Murray Billy Reid Gary Teale Ray McKinnon Aitken at Stranraer?
