  1. Doesnt matter how they go, once they are gone they're gone, so no difference at all. McGowan wanted to stay (we are told), we passed him over and now he has made a competitor stronger in an area where we now seem to be unexpectedly weak. Mair was released when we had plenty of cover Only difference seems to be if you have an axe to grind
  2. I would agree, but how many posters tried to make Mair relevant to St Mirren after he went to Thistle
  3. You can think that, but people have actually written that he will have to go on loan now that Caldwell is here, not for game time but because he is further down the order now I'm not reading minds, just reflecting on what is actually said.
  4. Why did McGowan have to go? at short notice, we gave him a one-year extension to his deal when he wa in the midst of what must have been the worst period of his life to date. Thoughts of prison and some serious self analysis must have distracted him to the limit and he was bound to have a poorer season. But we see him through it and pay his more than decent wages knowing his is going to be less effective and then, when it's all over with him, the club safely stays up, all the uncertainty of the management team's future is settled, then we let him go? just when he is liable to be a more settled, mature, relaxed and conscientious person free from off the field worries (relatively speaking). I don't care how people dress up that decision, it is more liable to be a very bad one for St Mirren than anything else.
  5. Agreed And to think how DL was pilloried for letting Mair (feckin' Mair!!!???) go to strengthen Thistle
  6. You'll find posts elsewhere saying that with the arrival of Caldwell we need to send Reilly out on loan, false senses of security are being lulled all over this forum, or at least they were.
  7. Is this the same forum where everyone was recently saying how excited they were about our squad and we only needed a couple more signings? The future's so bright you are all wearing blinkers and welding goggles
  8. Great that he has been stopped from killing Moslems (in the name of Allah?)
  9. Coz that is exactly what Bonnie said and you agreed
  10. Diddy clubs like celtic fail to realise that playing qualifiers is playing in Europe, they should be glad of the chance instead of whimpering like spud-bloated morons
  11. So you reckon we drag celtic down, and it's our fault they are not more successful in Europe?
  12. Bonnie Bedillia in the BBC website reckons Celtic having to qualify is unfair because all the other clubs in the country drag them down. I generally like Norwegian people, and i'll try not to treat him as typical But what a cock! Come on the Reykyavik.
  13. I understand he is retiring from TV, looking at him tonight, I get the feeling there are health issues, tremors on the left side , slurred words and a difficulty in expressing himself- could be Parkinsons or similar really sad if my feelings are proven true, but the big guy seems to be struggling Hope i am wrong and the reknowned teetotaller is just tired or pished
  14. if you took a job instead of sitting in the library all day using the free internet then maybe you would reduce your drag on the public finances
  15. saw them at the apollo in 77, great set with a somewhat less great support set from the rezillos I seem to remember they also played at loch lomond in 79 or 80, but i may have imagined that as i was very, very drunk
  16. Seems there . will be a wall of blue around the commonwealth games opening ceremony as the people want answers
  17. If he made more sense to you then i suggest the poor old twat is in even a worse state than we all thought
  18. Wasn't the SNP that said it, it was Ricky Ross
  19. I thought he howed a lot of restraint in not embarrassing the lady, he clearly thought that it was a good thing to take the best ideas of private industry and use them to make the state-run NHS more efficient anf effective for the clients. Everybody needs more training and exposure to good working practices wherever they work . My feeling was, the lady ( i never heard her say she was a nurse, but i am a bit deef) was either deliberately mis-representing the initiative as evidence of creeping privatisation (is she a relative of yours) or she had gotten the wrong handle on it. It was a credit to the whole panel that they resisted the urge to make her look dafter than she had already managed herself
  20. I think Brian, or even Mr Caldwell, would be a more respectful way to refer to a Director at the club
  21. I'm going to see Big Country plus a dozen other bands that day, will saints have a full squad by that time?
  22. I would say that it would be a good idea to talk to a few current or former employees of Barr about Tony Rush, and ascertain for yourselves whether his claims about employees being intimidated are a wee bit pot & kettle. It would also be good to know the dates of his dealings with ministers, I have been told he left BE in 2007, before the SNP were in power, so maybe the intimidating politicians he describes were actually of a labour or lib-dem hue. Maybe his memory is failing in that area-just putting it out there! Anyway, the article highlighted is simply a load of unsubstantiated bluster
  23. It's Mclean. he signed a new deal out of gratitude to the club & in exchange for a hefty percentage of any take , but is still expected to be leaving. FACT!
  24. If that is the case then surely you would agree that an independent scotland would have a great opportunity to set up cost-efficient systems that could save us a fortune over the wasteful IT projects that Westminster has overseen.
