  1. If Goodwin dyed his hair darker, these f**king idiots wouldn't know when to boo.
  2. Fer fuxake, now we're missing out on signings to Alloa? Danny Lennon Must Go! Sack the board!
  3. Pretty much what made the Yardley/Basher/Mendes combo so potent.
  4. Just out of interest, did anyone get a PM from Lovestreet about Magennis, Kello, Campbell, Djemba-Djemba or Wylde? It's worrying that these transfers have taken place below his usually-fastidious radar. Maybe someone should poke him to check he's still alive.
  5. This is an absolutely stonking signing, in my favourite position on the park. I'd definitely stick him and Goodwin in the middle together, when we have enough defenders that JG doesn't need to drop back. Thing is, players can hold that position for years; it's not like a fading striker that relies on his pace, etc. Maybe EDD would struggle in the Champions' League, but we are a long way off that standard. Look at, say, Gareth Barry in the 2010 World Cup. Made to look like an absolute carthorse by Germany, yet here he is, 3.5 years on, one of Everton's most consistent performers and providing the platform for their better, creative players. I'm excited about this.
  6. In fairness, I was just aiming for a a poor play on the word defence. But money or not, we ought to have a strategy of some sort. This all just seems haphazard. And you can't put that down to lack of funds. We don't play with wingers, but signed one. We only play one striker, but signed two extra ones. And we haven't managed to get shot of Bahoken, who, if he gets 90 minutes in total between now and the end of the season, I'd be very surprised. We have a perma-banned DM, and no sensible cover for him. And now just two CHs. If DL can make this work, then fair play to him. But I am having strong doubts about the wisdom of some of these moves. It feels like we do transfers like I play pool. Hit n hope.
  7. I think it's safe to say there's literally no defence of our current transfer policy.
  8. The way everyone keeps describing him is exactly how I would describe Isma. Just saying.
  9. Fixed that for you. There was no 'grab' as you put it. It happened too quickly and there was nothing to suggest any momentum towards or caused by Cheesy. You're basing your entire argument on something you've made up. Now jog move along.
  10. It wasn't a foul, there was barely any contact. Cheesy's reaction was the same as anybody's would be if you're running in someone's general direction and they start to slowly fall over in front of you. Hearts were tumbling all over the place. I didn't catch the name of the lad who did in the first half - but his dive was so comically late that nobody actually believed he was diving - but he properly threw his legs back and lunged, before turning round and realising nobody was within three metres of him. I really f**king hate Hearts and I hope they rot in the Championship for decades to come.
  11. Right, well, there ya go. I haven't got a f**king scooby what system we play any more. Which puts me in the same bracket as Danny Lennon, presumably. We keep signing strikers and keep playing with one up front. f**king magic.
  12. This happened last year. Didn't strengthen when we needed to because Dundee were supposedly down and out and we appeared to be happy to stretch the squad to breaking point. Obviously the league cup involvement didn't help our league form either (but not complaining about that part, obviously). This season, Hearts are gone, no worries there, but I don't want to end up looking over our shoulders at the play-off spot just because we opted to save a wage packet or two instead of bringing players in.
  13. Actually, he might be. There'd be f**k all chance of JG getting this much of a panning in the media if they had tedious OF shite to slavver on about.
  14. Good signing for Aberdeen. Stick-on for second, IMO.
  15. Gary Teale: he's shite. As was John Sutton. And Kenny McLean. And Jim Goodwin. If you read this forum, obviously.
  16. Yes, but filled only with raw meat and nails.
  17. IMO, there'd be games where you could justify playing someone like him alongside someone like Goodwin. Celtic away, for example. Two spoilers that give a platform for a front 4. Two defensive midfielders might suggest a lack of creativity, but when your strikeforce/attacking mf players are being selected from Thommo/Campbell/McGinn/Gowser/Teale/Wylde, and you have fullbacks in Naismith and Kelly who have shown they're happy to get forward, it would give us the best of both worlds. It'll give us options, is all. I welcome this signing.
  18. Great, I wonder if he can kick it really far, too... But naw, I'm being a dick. Despite the protestations of a few slightly barmy posters above, we have needed a second defensive midfielder since Shuggie left. The impact on the team when JG isn't available or is playing badly is woefully apparent, and I don't even get to many games. This would be a good move. (PS I love the idea that players absolutely have to arrive at the club in a certain order. We can't sign a DM (which we need) because we need a CB more. And if they don't arrive in the right order then I WILL RAGE ON THE INTERNET.)
  19. Stopped reading at '...if Harkins plays well.'
  20. Odd choice of phrase, given that the Gospels are basically works of fiction.
