  1. Could I get someone else to quote that article in full, please?
  2. Switch to 4-4-2 confirmed? (Can't see it as you' be dropping at least two of our best players.) Or perhaps sticking with the 4-2-3-1 with Wydle and Campbell out wide. Something still has to give - could Newton and up on the bench? Front six as follows: -------------Goodwin - McGinn/McLean----------- [Campbell/Newton/Teale] - Gowser - Wylde ----------------------Thommo-------------------
  3. We beat Hibs to Goodwin and Motherwell to Harkins (ok, ok...). Gowser wouldn't have been short of suitors in the summer, nor would Newton have been. I'm not saying we're regularly taking our pick of the best players, but it's a bit far to say it never happens.
  4. Almost four week's full-time work. I hope that's enough to make him learn a lesson. I also hope people will see that as a suitable punishment and let the lad move on.
  5. Totally agree, though Gary McAllister used to be on at him to choose to represent Scotland as he'd probably have got some caps when he was in his early 20s. He qualifies by family so might have a granny in Paisley he could stop with. If he hasn't, I'm sure we could find him one! But you're right, he can make more money just seeing out his career in League 1/2.
  6. Gary McSheffrey has just been allowed to leave Chesterfield. He'd do a brilliant job for us as a goalscoring left-sided attacker. he's never really strayed far from the Midlands, though, so it might be a tough sell.
  7. Haddad, in fairness, played a wee part in THAT equaliser at Ibrox. I realise you can't judge a player on highlights, but still... he played a small part in a bit of Saints greatness. And did f**k all else.
  8. Spot on. He's a luxury player in a team/league that has absolutely no room for luxuries. What surprises me about this development (if true) is that he'd manage to get a gig at a League One side.
  9. Absolutely agree. No team should take the field without a spoiler at the base of midfield. Always the most under-rated players by people who don't know football; always the first name on my imaginary team sheets. Thing is, I always imagine there'd be plenty of these kind of guys - cheap, experienced and happy to play back-up - at, say, (Scottish) Championship level. We don't need young and promising, we need old and cynical. IMO.
  10. Reilly. Edit: I'm bloody slow at this typing lark.
  11. And, indeed, we aren't appealing the ban. Makes sense to me to take it and move on. I wonder if we'll just go 4-4-2 with Campbell up alongside Thommo?
  12. Some people post on here as if they've not been following St Mirren for years. Talking about gimmes, 6-0 wins, and being raging if we don't win... this is St Mirren. I'd be delighted with a win of any shape or size. Expecting a win is the sort of chat you get from OF or delusional Aberdeen fans.
  13. Sounds like he will stay out the clanger. I'm not sure what good jail time would do for Gowser - it would turn him from being a stupid wee man with a good job, to being a stupid wee man without a good job - and put him on the road to ruin. In terms of rehabilitation, you'd hope he would learn from this, sort himself out and concentrate on doing what he clearly does best. If he takes his punishment like a man and carries on playing well for us, I'd have no problem at all with him still playing for Saints.
  14. Fuxake. There's a difference between an alleged sex offender, as you put it, and someone who has pleaded guilty to sex offences. If these were mere allegations and there was a court case to come, I would strongly defend McGowan against any pre-judgement, to use your phraseology. But they've charged him; he's said he did it. If Gowser wanted to get his side of the story across, he could have pleaded not guilty and he would have had his day in court. He has chosen not to do that and you therefore can't have a go at people for discussing what's going to happen next, given that he's going to be sentenced without a trial taking place. My preferred outcome here would be community service and a new one-year contract extension.
  15. Not sure what your point is - Gowser has pleaded guilty, so it's not like anyone's judging him before the verdict.
  16. Shit. Doesn't look good, this. Really, really can't imagine escaping prison time for repeatedly kicking a police officer who was on the ground.
  17. Martin Solveig - I just came to watch Kello.
  18. I put that on P&B earlier but I was mainly guessing. Is there something to it, do you think?
  19. Considering going across for this one. Any other Newcastle based Buds looking at it?
  20. It's rare on here you see someone realise that Isma rarely played as a striker for us. I guess having another striker (has Bahoken done much of anything so far?!) would give us the option of 4-4-2, but the way we play, by default, does not allow for that. If anything, 4-4-2 would shunt out Gowser, and we've all seen what happens when he's played out of position/not played.
