  1. Certainly, I was a big fan of Lennon as our manager. My point was it's interesting we've came full circle in a sense.
  2. Well, we're not Barcelona that's for sure. You can tell Jim works closely with Gus MacPherson - and it'll work, we'll stay in the league just like we did under Gus all those years. 10 years this year since Gus got punted as the club tried to "move to the next level"... if we stay up this year I wonder what the next level up is. Onto the game, McCarthy is a find... Watching that game if you were told one CB came from LOI and one from Norwich you'd probably guess wrong. Shame to see Paul McGinn go, he's one of our best performers every week in whatever position he's asked. Like Hladky he's worth more keeping him for 6 months for free than a measly 5 figure sum just now. Midfield it's hard to comment on, both midfields spent 90 mins challenging 50/50s and watching the ball sail over their head. Durmus provided moments of spark we sadly lack. Upfront as usual we are toothless and can't make the ball stick. I don't like to see individuals getting stick and not all strikers are there to score goals, some are there to link play, win headers, drag defenders out of position, etc... but when you can't do any of that or finish the 1 chance you get then questions should be getting asked.
  3. It's not just last night. Hes over 6ft tall and never gets on a header in the box in any game. I want to be wrong. But that's why Gus and Goody are searching for a new striker cos hes so good. Mullen and Cooke must shit in training if they cant get a game in front of him. A run of the mill striker with a first touch and some aerial prowess and we'd easily be cruising in at least 7th right now.
  4. Hopefully there is space in the budget for a striker, a winger and a left back. Wishful thinking i'd imagine...
  5. Tend to agree. The end result tends to be the same whether you have a go or sit in. If you attack now and then you will likely concede more than you score but there is always a chance. The difference is you have no chance of winning when you have 0 shots in 45 mins of football.
  6. Naturally the best finisher at the club. Has a little bit of a Ross Stewart feeling to it, far from the finished article - certainly has something about him. Hope the striker that's coming in is impressive...
  7. It's not common knowledge at all - my point was the poster is making assumptions about the club's wage bill which he knows nothing of. By the way, Baird signed for Morton for 6 months. Broadfoot signed for 2 years. McLoughlin was on a 6 month loan and we're trying to keep him... Are you saying we're about to be over budget? There will be money in the pot for Goodwin - or we wouldn't be talking to rival players about PCA's for next year or declaring we're about to bring in 5 players.
  8. Repectfully Disagree, we're in a 4 (5?) way dogfight. Need all the experience we can get over the next 6 months. Beyond that fair enough if we're looking to progress. If he moved on I have a feeling Jim would look to bring in an experienced midfielder to replace him anyway. ETA - you don't have a clue whether we need the wage or not. Not another club accountant
  9. No need, we have one - he set up the goal today. Somebody to finish off a couple more of the 19 (NINETEEN) shots we created please.
  10. Agree also, thought we competed better than usual today. Not really a failure out there today. Shout out to Foley, McGinn and Flynn all out of position. MacPherson great again in centre, McLoughlin good at the back also. Tony had a quiet game but tidy play for the goal, he has that quality to decide a game. We're hit or miss down the flanks and none of our wingers have really nailed down a spot but big credit today to Junior and Durmus - we are a very tidy team when we have an outball.
  11. Wrong time to get rid of StePHen. Struggles with fitness a lot these days but when fit is a good player. Squad is dropping like flies as it is, 2 midfielders playing in defence today. Not many of our players have played top end English Championship football and really get the club like him. Good guy to have in the dressing room. Goodwin clearly acknowledges his influence as when on the bench he stays in for half time team talk then goes out to warm up.
  12. There is players up with him. He struggles with simple 5 yard passes most of the time. Junior and Cody far more intelligent footballers and physically offer more
  13. No chance, we'll probably give them a 3rd stand for good measure. To top it off away fans blatantly in the home end. Club just see £££ signs.
  14. An OK player. Don't think he's outstanding. Personally I was hoping for somebody better and more experienced in Jan. Has sold a fair number of goals this year. Broadfoot is a better defender in my opinion. Hladky, Magennis, Flynn, Foley, P McGinn all also better players in their respective positions and more important to the team. A number are just as good as him.
  15. Credit where credit is due I know absolutely nothing and i'm quite ok with that. On a more serious note, how frustrating is it when we turn in a performance like Wednesday and look absolutely rotten, then follow it up with that? Few additions in January and some consistency in the 2nd half of season please. The bottom of this league has never been so open - let's finish as high up as possible
  16. Shocking lineup. Goodwin makes drastic changes every few weeks - how many of that squad does he actually trust? Foley, Magennis, P McGinn, McLoughlin, Flynn, Hladky? That's a relegation defence and the forward line is identical to the Callum Ball and James Marwood combo. Who knows what the man sees in Obika. Magennis is well overdue a spell on the bench and a young lad at centre half is better than McGinn in there with MacPherson flung in at RB. 2-0 Accies at least
  17. Meh. We don't tend to win at Pittodrie... 2 wins in 30 odd years is it? Annoying that we could've and should've got something yet again, much like the Hibs game but that's what good, streetwise teams do... we've never really done that. We will regret the away games to Livingston and County and the home game vs Hamilton from the early part of the season. The likes of the Hibs and Aberdeen games are much of a muchness - expected nothing, played well, got nothing - frustrating, but not games we'd have targeted points from.
