Yes that's the one! My (vague) understanding of it is that if you create a vaccine, after inoculation your body develops the antibodies. But after a period of time, the antibodies decrease (hence the need for boosters). If you then encounter a wild coronavirus, instead of being protected you can actually develop a more serious infection. I'm sure there are people far more qualified to explain why this is unlikely to happen, but there are several peer reviewed studies to suggest that it's a risk to rely purely on vaccination for a coronavirus based on animal trials.

The vaccines certainly work to an extent, but because they don't stop transmission of the virus, it's always going to be a tough sell to convince people that taking several more boosters to be classed as fully vaccinated is the right way to go. An Israeli health minister recently stated that it's going to take 7 boosters, possibly more, for Israeli's to be considered fully vaccinated. As I said earlier in the thread - MRNA vaccine technology is designed to allow boosters for the latest variant, but there is a counter theory that it could also encourage ADE (antibody dependent enhancement) Are people willing to commit to a booster once every 6 months (possibly even less) to maintain their fully vaccinated status? Is it a matter of time before you have a bad reaction to one of them? Will we ever be considered fully vaccinated? These are the important questions

Where do you propose the folk that we don't vaccinate and catch this virus, then subsequently require hospital care get accommodated? There are very few people in the UK with zero protection at this point. Most have either had the virus, or been vaccinated. Death rate is extremely low, especially for the new variant. Do we just continue like this forever? Why is it ok to allow people to die of cancer because they are still waiting for treatment, but not of a virus? More about control than it is about a virus
-
Ignoring the fact that the leaky vaccines still allow transmission, Britain is now a heavily vaccinated country with a low death rate - by prioritising boosters for healthy people with well functioning immune systems over assisting developing nations with large numbers of unvaccinated people seems an odd way of going about things If it was all about saving lives, they would be prioritising getting the NHS back to full capacity - waiting lists for cancer treatment, operations etc. are absolutely massive and need to be addressed as a matter of priority Moving on to boosters 4, 5, 6, 7 at such a frantic rate is unnecessary and not what the public signed up for. What happened to getting back to normal once most of the population was vaccinated?

Is the penny dropping for anyone yet?

It's a great shout, club could also donate free tickets if they are feeling generous. Better than having empty seats and could make someone's weekend to have a free day out to the football
-
With McGrath and Erhahon out, would be tempted to go 2 up front tonight? Brophy and Main
-
Could the club hold fundraising events? Perhaps have a few ex players or club legends do talks in the club bar. I'm sure they would sell like hot cakes, especially if we knew the money was going to such a worthwhile cause

By the definitions going around - are we all committing a hate crime by singing the Stevie Thompson song? "Played for the h_n's but we don't care" The reality is that it's down to JN to decide if his position is tenable If not, he will resign Can't imagine he will be sacked if he doesn't want to resign

It’s up to him whether he resigns… I do think that apologising on Twitter made it worse, open goal for their mutants who will use it to point score for eternity. Other than the bridge tweet none of them were that bad. Didn’t see that one when I searched and I know some were photoshopped so not sure if that was legit? maybe deleted by now Should be setting clear social media guidelines for all club employees.

Surely they could WFH like everyone else is being asked to

We should have some sort of St Mirren club card system where all tickets can be loaded on to. Could just top up your account, even link it to Paypal. Sort of like a St Mirren Oyster card where you can add games and use that for entry/club shop/1877 club. Golf clubs have them for spending at the bar or pro shop. Not sure why football clubs haven't made use of that tech.

Just read the report. He didn't seem the type to be scrapping in nightclubs Guess that's what happens when you start hanging about with Cummings and Gowser
-
Bit of a weird one, you'd expect them to play decent football with some of the players they've got - seem more keen to put the boot in than play attractive football In other news, mind when people said losing Alex Jakubiak was the worst thing ever? doesn't even get a game for Dundee Wouldn't take any of their players in our first 11 as it stands

Only change I'd be looking at would be to counter Ross Callachan, always causes us problems. Hopefully an in form Alan Power will sort him out. Would like to see Flynn get a chance to start at some point
-
Yep 100% got to be McCarthy, has earned his right to start. Dunne will need to play his way back into the team. Not a bad thing to have competition for places

Brown risking a second yellow there, should never risk the wrath of Willie

what are you doing 😐 delete this

Long balls to Brophy don't work. Sky stats had him down as only touching the ball 8x at around the 35th minute Ronan and McGrath need to start combining
