Guest TPAFKATS
Shocked and saddened when I heard this earlier. An honest journalist who was always worthwhile to read. Also seemed a genuinely good guy

salmonbuddie
Spot on from one of our own: "In a medium dominated by attention-seeking blowhards, Ian Bell's columns were an oasis of informed, analytical and compassionate thinking." Well said, Chris Brookmyre.
RickMcD
Afraid I had never heard of him. Been away too long. RIP. At first I thought of Ian Bell the cricketer. Then I thought of Ian Bell from Glenburn, known to one and all as Chinky. Hope he is still around.
FTOF
Always enjoyed reading his column in the Sunday Herald.
Howard Hughes in BlueSuedeShoes
Very sad news indeed. Always enjoyed reading his articles. Didn't always agree with him but he would make me consider a different point of view. Fewer things I enjoyed more on a Sunday than sitting with a pint in the pub reading him & Iain McWhiter. Just not gonna be the same anymore.
