Scottish Election 2016

So you're apologising for the "edging ever closer to a North Korea/Burma style one party state" remark then?

Well done you.

I most certainly am not! Why should I?

We currently have a Scottish "government" that is bringing in legislation that will give an employed person (someone who gets paid to 'care' about others) who knows nothing about my family, (our values, our history, our beliefs, our struggles and successes, our failures and achievements, how we interact, our likes and dislikes, our daily routines etc etc etc etc) that's right, someone who knows nothing about my family the authority to intervene in the lives of my children and judge, in an official capacity, my parenting and, someone who, if by whim or fancy, takes a dislike to how we as a family conduct ourselves and disapproves of how I (and/or my wife) parent our children can impose themselves and their meddling organisations on our lives - to the point of breaking up our family.

Working, as I do, for said organisations, I know the way in which many of those employed in that field operate and it makes me concerned, not for me and my family per se, but for others who happen to do thing differently than the accepted norm. My colleagues already think I'm weird for not having TV... Our kids don't spend hours every day in front of it robbing their imagination and making them stupid. If I was a client with that attitude, instead of a colleague i'd be liked at suspiciously and possibly be paid a visit in future by a "named person" prying into my and my family's private lives - FOR NOT HAVING A TV! It wouldn't be the first time...

The point is that because of the serious lack of challenge to the SNP, these rather sinister policies can just walk through Holyrood seemingly unchallenged.

Oh, and I'd also like to be able, where the road is narrow and the pavement wide, to park with two wheels on said pavement! Allowing both traffic (including emergency vehicles) and pedestrian to pass freely. I'll also not be able to that soon (against all common sense) in any place, at any time, anywhere in Scotland.

Again the point is that the suggestion that we are edging toward an ultra-socialist one party state is a valid one and should concern us all. I, as a yes voter and definite left of centre state employee am worried about the trajectory of our country. It's a genuine concern. Not an attempt to SNP bash, it's a genuine concern. And the attempt in this thread to shoot down those who voice genuine alternative opinions to those of SNP followers by some posters is concerning also. Democracy is just that - democracy.

You'll be accused of...something...anytime now.

What he doesn't seem to get is that I'm not having a go at the disabled or mentally ill, I'm having a go at him. Megalomania too, having a go at him seems to equate to having a go at lots of others.

Having a go at me by suggesting my behaviour is similar to that of someone who has a mental illness. You're using mental health symptoms as a way of having a go at me... Because you think it's funny and will generate laughs. You seem to think that someone who suffers from mental illness (either me ANother) is to be laughed at.

If I wrote something that vaguely made you think of an ethnic minority would you call me a p*ki or a n*gger?

The "I'm only getting at him" argument doesn't wash and is the first refuge of the fascist. If you're using mental health stereotypes to "get at" me, you're also getting at people who have mental health issues. Wise up!

The actually real life person behind this online persona has never posted on this forum in the past.

That is a fact, Div can confirm from IP addresses if you ask him.

Also, the person behind this persona may or may not actually strongly hold the views he's using this persona to post about.

IP addresses can be spoofed and you can post as one alias from home and another from work, yet another from your mates house, you can change your IP address or use different devices etc. The list of ways for the same person to post under different IP addresses is literally endless. Yip, because I care so much about pretending to a couple of people on an online forum that I'm only one person when I'm actually more than one person.

Perhaps your life is so devoid of meaning that you'd be interested in doing that sort of thing... Mine isn't, so I'm not.

Any other that it can be proven, including a lie detector test of truth serum, I'm happy to go along with. I'm me and me alone. Although the me for this forum isn't necessarily the me at work or the me at home or the me at the pub or the me at the synagogue/church/mosque etc.

I've never claimed to be a rocket scientist, like what you have, but I think your assertion that the number of aliases a guy can have is literally endless is right up there with Buzz Lightyear's 'To infinity and beyond!'

I am a scientist not a rocket scientist.

I have been called a rocket though.

TBH I am just relieved I dont spend my career teaching kids to pass tests or sitting in meetings all day.

Small wins Ricky. Small wins.
