Trump threatening to destroy NK would have far more effect than if you threatened it. Some people are even influenced by what their favourite pop stars say. I understand that but the real problem is the action itself. Trump and pop stars can say what they want. The problem is when someone makes the decision to act. It is THAT person we should be focussing on IMO.

oaksoft
1 hour ago, Slartibartfast said: Should what he was saying just have been ignored and action only taken on those who were inspired by his words and acted? Is that the only option? I certainly haven't advocated such a black and white approach anywhere. It needn't be either/or. I am saying that in the scheme of things, the person actually involved in action is the one you want to be considerably more worried about than those who only use words. The security services agree. The alternative is to run around like a headless chicken chasing everyone with an internet connection and a mouth and shutting down freedom of speech in the process. Bud the Baker
Interesting speech today by Labour leader JC who unsurprisingly is able to promote a more left wing agenda in the wake of June's better than expected GE result. Quote Policy statements in Corbyn speech Jeremy Corbyn announced a number of new polices in his speech: Taxing undeveloped land held by developers Votes for current tenants and leaseholders before redevelopment Existing tenants get to stay on the same site with the same terms as before Changing the law on organ transplants in England to match Wales He also repeated commitments to a number of existing Labour policies: Full guarantees that 3m EU citizens currently living and working in the UK can stay Taking utilities back into public ownership Making every home fit for human habitation Rent controls Powers to compulsory purchase properties left empty by investors I guess I'll have to ask the question - how they are going to pay for all this? Bud the Baker
Ruth Davidson in saying something sensible shocker! http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-scotland-scotland-politics-41454566 Quote Ruth Davidson has demanded Scotland benefits more from being part of the Union with a plea for more government jobs to be relocated north. The Scottish Conservative leader said the UK "continues to be far too London-centric" with "enough civil servants to fill Wembley Stadium". Pity she can't follow through the logic of this statement in the rest of her speech.............. ********************* Almost sad that BB has been evicted he'd surely have come up with something entertaining to explain it away..................... Surprised she didn't mention it 6 months ago. In the context of the 2014 independence referendum and the two GE's since then when the Tories have told us that in the wake of the oil price fall Scotland's economy is a basket case and that we are dependant on England's benevolence it certainly a bolt from the blue. Now it turns out that, to an extent, even RD agrees with Nationalist interpretation of the relationship between Scotland & the rest of the UK and particularly LondonLand. Will she be able to put up a more effective fight for Scotland than she & Mundell did after the DUP billion pound giveaway? As Brexit approaches and jobs ebb away from the City then it's even more important that we escape from a country focussed on the needs of LondonLand. The 13 tory mps who are, including Mundell (the governor general) have already shown that they'll vote as told to by May, whatever Davidson might say in an interview. More to do with current Conservative spin that RD & The Tartan Thirteen are more effective advocates for Scotland's needs than the SNP. Chancellor Philip Hammond was trying out the Bad Cop role on the news last night saying that he'd been roughed up a bit by the Scottish Tory MP's. It all fell apart when a fresh faced Good Cop was asked about what concessions he had been lobbying for and was unable/unwilling to provide an answer. oaksoft
Amber Rudd's big idea for eradicating terrorist attacks is to jail people for 15 years for watching videos of beheadings on the internet. She had better buld new jails petty quickly because hundreds of thousands of people watch them every day. Of course she will first need to enlighten us as to how she expects the police to know exactly who in the family was actually watching the videos. Yesterday she was whining because techy companies are taking the piss out of her because she has no technical training. That's right. The person in charge of online security for the entire nation has no f**king clue about how the internet works and is upset at that being pointed out every time she opens her mouth and makes another batshit crazy demand of internet based firms. FFS how do these morons get elected.. Edited October 3, 2017 by oaksoft
