Absolutely! I haven't heard the Jimmy Johnston story before. I was once informed that Tommy Turner, whilst at Partick Thistle, having been told that he wasn't needed for matchday, was enjoying a quiet couple of pints and the odd cigarette in a nearby hostelry.  A teammate got injured in the warmup and someone from the Partick Thistle staff was sent to collect him from said hostelry. He went on to have a great game.  I have no reason to doubt the person who told me but it did seem incredible at the time. The stuff of legends indeed.
