New information out yesterday from the club and in today's Herald makes our financial position clear and I am pleased with the transparency of the board in getting that information out.
Chairman John Needham stated the club are in a "strong financial position" and current club accounts which are being audited indicate we have "broken even" for the last financial year ending 31st May, 2026.
The "Our Progression" document and supporting video's make it clear we could not continue on the previous business model as it was "unaffordable" which was really the point I was making at the start of this thread. Eveything pointed to cost cutting and I was right about that.
It is now clear that our business model going forward is investing in youth players as we cannot afford English League 1 and 2 "journeymen" going forward as that would have been "unsustainable".
The opportunity to invest in youth came about with Stephen Robinson's departure. Read in to that what you may.
We all take a lot of stick in this forum for raising concerns and many stand by the sidelines but I hope by raising financial concerns it gives supporters a platform to share their concerns.
I'm glad the board have released the videos and statements as it gives us peace of mind the club is not in financial difficuly but would have been if it continued with the model of the last 3 years.
We are investing in youth and reducing our costs.
Let's hope that strategy works and we get another John McGinn or Kenny McLean.
