You've missed the point.  It's not the offences that are irrelevant it's the fact that there's around 260 of these mistakes happening year on year which, as @Slartihas clearly stated, it's only news because of the immigration frenzy that's gripping the country.  I do agree about politicians, always been the same no matter what party they represent.
