St.Ricky
In the olden days when I was a boy we played goalkeeper. Two Full Backs, Three Midfielders and Five Forwards. Result was lots of excitement. Would you play this formation now. If not then what would you like to see used?
Meiksyboy
It would be great to see Saints play with 1 forward but unfortunately we don't have
dr rotund
3-5-2 and that's the way Jack Ross will go i think. It can be a flexible formation but it's one i think we should persevere with.

St.Ricky
The formation yesterday at Hibs looked like a 3-4-3 Very attack minded. Potential to score, for sure, but also open on the break. Prefer it this way as long as we win more points than we lose.

Jings, crivens, help ma boab. Things started changing around the time the Italian Leagues becme the leaders in world or at least European football. Hence the build up to the 1967 Celtic v Milan European Cup Final with the Italians playing "defensive" football . The days of the forward going full backs had arrived. Inside forwards took on more defensive duties and wingers became almost a luxury. But others might see it differently.
