  1. Spawned, tadpoled and frogged all in Glasgow but forced to carry on family tradition by father and always supported the Saints. The odd Saints fan around where I live and a few at school. Earliest memory as a froglet was Tottie Beck. Have selfishly passed on the misery to both children, why should they escape ?, lol. Used to stand near the first pillar under the covered enclosure at the Love St end with my old man, uncles and their friends. Abiding memories are of night games and Saints attacking the Love St goal and when they won a corner, a great roar would build up from the crowd. Have never experienced any kind of atmosphere in the new ground whatsoever. Must be due to seats. time to get back to standing areas for atmosphere.....and a few wins wouldn't go amiss.
  2. I presume from your location that drinking is something denied to you by the enlightened regime in that part of the world, lol ? Surprised Internet access is not restricted likewise. Use plenty Ambre Solaire old chap.
  3. Biting, it seems, has become the new spitting. Both of which can be injurious to the health and have no doubt caused many fatalities on the football park over the decades. Hacking and punching, by comparison, are merely occupational hazards and ought to be best ignored. What cannot be ignored, however, is Saints current form and the deafening silence emanating from GHR as to what the club are going to do about it. Or has the towel already been thrown in and the acceptance of third tier football a fait accompli ? I wonder has any new manager ever had such a bad run of results as our current one , and lived to tell the tale ? If another 6 points are lost by the end of this week surely it is the clubs duty to inform the supporters - those who remain - of their plans. It doesn't take a genius to work out what those are, namely to "prepare" for relegation and cross fingers that promotion can be won in one season. A bit like two years ago. NOT !
  4. In Saints defence, they have been victim of several major bungles by the footballing authorities. Initially in order to get into the top league, they had to have 10,000 seats which required a brand new stand built at the Love St end and in use for barely a handful of years. The 10k rule was eventually reduced to whatever it is now (6k ?) when some bright spark realised that crowds have vanished. Incidentally as far as I believe, there is no mandatory requirement in this country to have all seater stadia, it only applies to the English top leagues. Our authorities, like sheep, just follow what big brother does, as if it puts us on a par with our neighbours. Then it became necessary (apparently) to install USH which we did at Love St then again at GHR. This is the west of Scotland, its not needed here generally as our winters are mostly wet. I cant remember any games taking place solely due to the USH being put on. I can however cite a few which were called off regardless of the heating being on or not. Snow in surrounding roads being the main culprit. If its costs too much to thaw out frozen ground it ought to be considered too cold for fans to sit freezing for two hours , so I don't think repairing the USH should be a priority.
  5. Its a sad day for Saints fans when the thought of playing Falkirk strikes a sort of dread into the heart. Realistically a defeat seems the only likely outcome and in fact the next 3 fixtures could end up pointless. In which case, even this early, the wisdom of Jack Ross` appointment could be called into question. I doubt whether the new ruling junta would be keen to admit, just like the previous lot in charge, that they have made a grave mistake. Lets face it, the vast majority of football managers acquire jobs and salaries they could never be considered for in real life. It could depend on what the expectation was at the point of interview. Maybe one of two scenarios, (a) anything other than relegation is deemed a success , in which case JR gets another season or (b) its already too late but we have to come straight back up at the first attempt, and if not its sayonara. I know someone always has to be relegated but to have fallen like a stone for several years without interruption really takes the wind out of your sails, particularly when most of this has been self-inflicted. We had a great chance of improvement 4 years ago when our nearest neighbours imploded, but instead of capitalising on this, we made every decision a wrong one, losing half our fan base instead of increasing it through various hare-brained schemes (Im loathe to keep repeating but , dud managers, crocked and useless players, over the top pricing, all ticket fiascos, rarely winning at home etc etc ) It now looks certain we are to reach the lowest point in history, unfortunately this side not only lacks ability, it lacks the fight needed to defy the inevitable. I would love to be proved wrong but the loins are girded for Jules Verne football, lol.
  6. Having the next round cup draw made before playing the first round tie has in recent years been a bit of an anti-climax. The way we are playing, even if we beat the Spartans its one of the worst draws we could have been given and gives the fans ( those who are still left) even less to look forward to. I had considered going to the match on Saturday but no interest any longer after the incompetence of the weekend. Really don't know when/if I will attend next, such is my apathy at present. Like many others on here, it almost seems that the club has a death wish, going from error to error in respect of managers, injured and useless players, overcharging, all ticket games, cancellations, the list is endless. If I didn't care, I wouldn't go on consistent diatribes about all that's wrong at Saints but decades following the club gets it into your blood. As another said in an earlier post, the move to Greenhill Rd, albeit perhaps forced, has been an unmitigated disaster, with an inordinately poor home win record in a completely soulless stadium which has still never sold out after about a decade. I sincerely hope Saints don't suffer one of their worst ever defeats this evening, should they decide to play, and that by the time they have to travel to Dens things may have improved.
  7. Not only could they break the record for points/wins/goals, they could also break the crowd record tomorrow night , that's assuming they can be bothered to get the match on.
  8. I was considering hopping along to watch this as its more realistically priced at £12, and being cold blooded the low temperatures don't affect me, however I can already see the doubts creeping in over a postponement due to a bit of frost. Whilst I never agreed with the stipulation of undersoil heating being a requirement (its barely ever been necessary or used) , I would not be in the least surprised if this game is called off due to a frozen pitch and the mortal dangers this could cause to donkeys playing on it.
  9. The Celtic manager certainly earns his millions by spinning the outcomes and professing that his team has improved. In almost Strachan-esque fashion, he seems to have forgotten the defeat to the Imps and the record loss in Spain. Lucky for him he will be able to throw more millions at Aberdeen on Sunday and hope to bury them under a landslide of foreign players and refereeing decisions. Lets see his explanation if this fails, lol.
  10. Don't they cut out tongues for bad language where you are squatting these days ?
  11. I notice one glaring omission in that report. Could someone please explain why it costs £20 a time to watch a game ?. No, I didn't think they would be able to explain that one.
  12. So managers not only need an Assistant, but an "old head" to tell them what to do ?. Maybe that's why the club feels the need to overcharge the fans, given that the managerial wage bill must be massive. The way things are going, Shull will have his wish for part-time players next season in the third division.
  13. I think many have seen this predicament coming for quite a while now, and whilst I blame the board for their rotten choice of managers, its gone beyond that now. Jack Ross has landed in a terrible situation with Raes dud signings and zero confidence. I don't blame this on him but he had better start improving results or his career will be a short one. I await the rally call from above to the fans to back the team etc. Doubt if it will wash though, as even fans who have paid for a whole season have given up already. And to have the temerity to ask people to pay £20 a time to watch a team which never wins at home, very rarely scores a goal and NEVER give value for money (certainly not twenty quids worth) is the economics of the mad house. Unless relegation to the third division sees the team immediately bounce back as champions, there will be a return to the early 70s and crowds of around a thousand.
  14. Normally when Saints appear certain to lose, they manage to pull something out of the bag. Lets hope tonight is one of those times.
  15. That's the kind of signing to get the crowds rolling up. Bottom of the league, no wins, £20 to get in and the prospect of an English fourth division reserve player to come to the rescue . Been down that route before and it doesn't work. I know normal signings are not permitted at this time and Jack Ross has been left in a terrible position with very little prospect of picking up points in the immediate future. Success, unfortunately, would merely be being able to survive relegation this season which is already looking like a very difficult task. I have already considered the likelihood of next season in the third tier and unless we won that league straight off it would be disastrous. A run of wins though, particularly at home, even in a lower league could see crowds increase from the current paltry size. Fingers crossed it doesn't need to come to that. In the meantime I am still refusing to stump up £20 to watch the current dross on show. Get it sorted out, board.
  16. Didn't see any of the Celtic game as it was on ppv, watched Barcelona game on freeview, they were pretty good. Celtic were already out of the CL before last nights game, now they are out of Europe completely. For them its damage limitation. No sympathy from this fellow green creature ,lol.
  17. I went on a special train to the game at Fir Park and one thing I have always wondered about is what the crowd would have been at Love St in the midweek if we had managed a draw. In those days the replay would have been on the Wednesday immediately after the game. There were certainly thousands of Saints fans locked out at Motherwell, biggest away support I have ever seen.
  18. I was at all those games, unfortunately the big difference is that we had good players then. Not one of todays team would get a jersey in that team, and they were still youngsters. One can but dream.
  19. Saw the game on tv and whilst some of the play was a minor improvement on recent displays, it was yet another defeat. We now have 4 pts from 27 with no wins and only Edinburgh City have less point than us in the whole country. Despite this, and the prospect of a season where avoidance of relegation seems a best case scenario, the club is still charging £20 a time to watch this drivel. There may have been a slight increase in Saturdays attendance - mainly due to new manager bounce and a decent travelling support - but watch crowds dwindle further if a combination of over pricing and never winning persists.
  20. Heres the difference between normal people and those in football. Anyone else would be job hunting but Rae is out playing golf. Doubt very much if another cushy football job will come his way however, so better get that CV (lol) updated.
  21. Caught brief extracts from radio as don't have Sky etc and sounded like Scotland were lucky to draw. Then heard post match interview with Strachan who is a very rude man. Cannot understand why he gets such an easy ride from the press , probably because he lives in England I suppose and scarpers after each game. Not in the least concerned or surprised by the latest failure from a bunch of players, many of whom don't even have the decency to represent their own country and instead deny real Scots the chance of pulling on the blue jersey. Just as an aside, do others wonder why we in Scotland are able to watch Italy v Spain, England v Malta and even tonight Holland v France on tv, but are denied the chance to watch our own country ? That sums up the SFA.
  22. Thankfully those in charge must read this forum and took heed of the Frogs post from yesterday. From the apparent shortlist of names, I would have chosen JR as well, so lets see how things work out. Maybe a good idea not to start until the next league game as a cup exit on his debut would be rather inauspicious. Good luck to Jack Ross, it could be the making of him and salvation for Saints.
  23. You missed out....The Admission Price. £20 to watch bottom of the second division and never see a home win. That's why less than 2000 turned up on Saturday. Whoever thought up that figure needs their head examined.
  24. I only watched on tv thankfully, complete misery from a hopeless Saints team. What was the crowd ? It looked like a reserve match which is what Mrs Frog genuinely asked in between doing her Sudoku. Heaven help who gets the managers job, this is the worst Saints team ever.
  25. Bottom of the league, no manager, no wins so far, £20 to get in, game live on freeview tv. Wonder what the crowd will be ? Saints have made a rod for their own back, I`m afraid. Surely they must reduce the prices for next season.
