  1. Can't be true surely? Our man in the know scoffed at such a suggestion.
  2. Instead of laughing at people why don't you just tell us since you're obviously in the know?
  3. You'll change your tune when you see the pics of Dalglish, Johnstone and Larsson in the HoF !
  4. So we couldn't have negotiated a deal where they rented the stadium without any temporary re-branding? Perhaps I should ask the Fans Council reps, they seem to be privy to this sort of information...
  5. So for those people who aren't in any way at least even irked by this, where do you draw the line? Would you be happy for instance to give up your season ticket seat to allow the new club fans to take all of the West or Main Stand since it would generate more money for the club? Genuine question by the way because to some on here it seems that everything is about money. I've been supporting Saints for over 45 years and we've never had much money. We've always had our own identity though and that is something to genuinely cherish.
  6. Wonder how many seats SG will let the home fans have if the final game of the league season is a potential title clincher for the new club. Selling the use of the stadium is one thing, you don't need to sell the soul of the club with it.
  7. Shull is of course correct. The early rounds are regionalised and we are in the Southern half. So Annan, Berwick or Dumfires is as exotic as it can get.
  8. Who will be this season's Bobby Torrance or Kenny McDowall?
  9. No doubt the budget will be set on the assumption of us finishing 8th with no cup runs.
  10. Danny Stevenson, Jim Stewart and Alex McEwan haven't been metnioned yet.
  11. If that's aimed at me, I'd rather not go than pay £20 to sit in the Family Stand, unless it was a really big game. It is an awful view. I've had to sit in the Main Stand in the past and will do so again no doubt. It's ok unless you get one of those rare sunny days. However you are missing the point. If I buy a season ticket it would have to be beside 2 empty seats so that I could sit next to my boy and my mate when we're all there. Even if there is such a seat available in a row near the back how do I know someone else won't buy a season ticket for the empty seats after I've bought mine?
  12. My boy attends some games and my mate attends some games so the best place to sit is W6/W7 where we can sit together and get a decent view. If I buy a season ticket, I can't sit with them at the Celtic or Sevco games, and by the looks of it, most games in the Championship, with this area either closed or given up to the away support. So there is absolutely no incentive for me to buy a season ticket.
  13. There are not enough seats with a decent view in the stadium in my opinion. The vast majority of the best seats are taken up by season ticket holders. I was unfortunate in the allocation of my seat when we moved to the new ground. I had a great seat in the Northbank in Love St but my preferences were ignored and I was allocated a seat in Row G in line with the 18 yard line at the home end. A crap view, I only sat in it twice and I have never had a season ticket since. For me, you have to have a seat in the back 4 or 5 rows of the new ground to get a decent view. That means when W6 and W7 is unavailable to the home support I am not particularly keen to part with my £20. I understand why people who have the best seats just now wouldn't want to give them up but they have no divine right to them and I would be very much in favour of an unollocated seating policy. I can't see the club going for that, with some people already having paid to have their names on their seats.
  14. I wouldn't say I expected this from Ciftci but there is no doubt he has shown signs of petulance this season and got away with them. His stupid swipe with his arm on John McGinn (that the wee man laughed off) and his kick out at Scott Brown in the cup game at Tannadice were both offences worthy of suspensions. They certainly would have been if his name was Jim Goodwin.
  15. I believe they don't have managers that sign players whom they either fall out with or are not good enough, thereby saving a fortune in terminating contracts early.
  16. Not disagreeing about living within our means DL but it would be nice to see the club being proactive in trying to generate more income. Mind you I've been saying that for some time now so I won't hold my breath.
  17. Sorry I forgot Cheesy had left. Should be a straightforward march to Champions League winners in 3 seasons then.
  18. My opinion, and it's only conjecture before anyone gets upset, is that; The club won't be sold We will cut costs according to our new level of income That will mean the 1st team is made up of players who have come through the academy, a few old hands and loanees Other teams will gamble more on getting up to the SPL We will struggle to compete with the teams at the top of the division I would be happy with a mid table finish but I fear that we will be dragged into the relegation battle. We will stay up but not comfortably At some point I would hope that the BoD get a wake up call but that should have happened by now. If a sale is not imminent and they are still in place, they simply have to be more energised and show the leadership that has been sadly lacking for some time now.
  19. Yes Dunfermline were relegated due to off field issues and were in a worse state than we are. However we sold off our best player on deadline day in January to alleviate cash flow problems. Allegedly. If we were struggling to balance the books in the top flight i fail to see how we will manage to do it in the Championship other than taking a rather large slice off the wage bill. And make no mistake this Board will want to balance the books before anything else. That's not a criticism but it does mean we ned to get a bit more real on who we're likely to bring in. Talk of signing guys like Keatings and Reilly is fanciful in my book but again I hope to be proved wrong. I expect to see a fairly youthful Saints team next season with more academy boys being given a chance.
  20. We need to sort out our own problems otherwise before long it won't matter if they extend the top flight to 20 clubs - we still wouldn't be in it.
  21. I think Teale will get the gig, it would cost money to recruit someone else. As for the type of player we can bring in, it doesn't augur well that as an SPL club last season we couldn't do better than Marwood, Ball and Caldwell. I hope I'm wrong but I suspect we're heading back to the days of Dow, Crilly, Dunn etc.
  22. Good luck to Marc wherever he ends up. Regardless of whether you rate him as a player, he is one of us and a nice guy. For anyone revelling in his departure just be careful what you wish for. We couldn't find someone to replace him as an SPL side so God knows how anyone can think we will end up with a better player as a Championship side.
  23. No none of them merit a place in our worst ever team. Ball, Arquin and Marwood are not worse than Garry McVie, Steve Kinsey or Steve Galloway to name but a few. As bad as Wylde is he is no Jim Gardner. Kello is far better than Derek Scrimgeour. All of the defence are better than Brian Smith, Ronnie McQuilter, Mo Camara and Gavin Galloway. Can't believe I left John Potter out of the back 4. And I haven't even mentioned any of our "stars" in the Coughlin era. The team is poor and we have had an awful season but let's get things in perspective.
  24. Couldn't make the game last night so not placed to comment on how bad it was. I remember being absolutely sickened when we lost 3-1 in a vital post split match at home to a Motherwell team who had nothing to play for in one of our recent great escape seasons. I think Strven O'Donnell scored out late consolation. I though that performance was unforgivable in the circumstances too, even though we got out of it in the end. Other desperate league performances that spring to mind are just about all of them in the Davie Hay season which I find similar to this season as it's the only other time I've seen Saints go down without a fight in 46 years of watching them.
