  1. Excellent signing! Definitely a signing that will improve the squad and will be a first name on the team sheet once fully fit. This signing will give the defensive side of the club a hearty boost ahead of the new season. Welcome back to the club Harry!
  2. I actually quite enjoyed that today. We didn't play brilliantly but also didn't play badly. Scored 5 and could easily have scored another 5 but equally could have conceded a few as felt we were quite sloppy and wasteful with the ball at times in the game. The 5-0 win also prompted me to spend £61 on home top and shorts. #fullkitwanker [emoji41] Also loved the SMISA wall. A great feature and something every St Mirren fan should be proud of. Not everyone can contribute and it doesn't make these fans any better than those that didn't but it is mark of the commitment and support shown by those who did. We are stronger together and plenty of positives will come from fan ownership in time. Have faith buddies. I think we all have to take a step back and try not to get too high or to low with results this early in the season. It's all ifs and buts but if we hadn't conceded so early against Livi then things might have been different. We created a good number of chances in that game and didn't take them. It's disappointing the cup is over but we move on. This isn't a bad squad but it also isn't a great squad and like any other squad will take time to gel. We have to stick together as a support and club and quickly foster the spirit and camaraderie that we saw develop towards the end of last season. Back your team as best you can as it is our club and we all want to see it do as well as it can. I think we will see a committed performance by St Mirren next week against Falkirk in front over 5,000 fans. I am looking forward to it already. Stick together and be positive and the good times will come.[emoji41]
  3. David Longwell is a great guy. Anyone who has spent time in his company will have seen his passion for football and coaching. I don't know him that well at all but met a number of times over the years and he was a brilliant guy who was immensely committed to doing the best for our great club and deserves all the success he is currently experiencing. Well done David and I wish you all the best in your new role and going forward in your career. A bit like the talents of Stevie Mallan, Kenny McLean, Stephen and John McGinn we were lucky to have them at our great club.
  4. Oh dear! I sit at H87! I will be bringing my 5 year old son to most games this season. If she is there for the season then I can't see this being a fun season on or off the pitch now.
  5. I was beginning to wonder what had happened to this thread. Div will be delighted as this forum is probably at its busiest after a run of bad results. Here we go again!
  6. Saving my brownie points for the big relegation battle that beckons. [emoji41] Was genuinely saving them up so I could go to Airdrie and East Kilbride cup games. 5-0 in any competitive game is a sore one. All the good aspects of the last 10 games or so of last season seem to be missing so far in the build up to the new season. Early days but Jack ROSS must be concerned with showing in Dundee, Ross County, Livingston and now Thistle games.
  7. It's a sad day when you go with the family to silverburn to help get school clothes for the kids than go to Firhill or even watch in the pub. Early days but another long season ahead. Aim should be for top 4 but please don't get dragged in to another relegation battle.
  8. Think we might actually get a narrow win in normal time and all but guarantee 2nd place in the group. I do think we will see a reaction from Tuesday nights disappointment. The away support will be in good voice and I genuinely see us winning this one. Come on ye saints!
  9. Absolutely tragic news. I used to work next to Connor's dad and went to a number of games with his dad before Connor was born. I have met Paul and Connor a number of times over the years at St Mirren Park prior to Connor becoming unwell. He was always a lovely wee guy with a great smile. I feel so sorry the family. It really has been a tough time for them over the years and can't believe he has passed away. RIP Connor
  10. It's not all bad. I got an ice pole at the football for the first time ever.[emoji106] I thought we were poor up front tonight and felt the urgency and decisive play of last season just wasn't evident tonight. Reilly had a poor game and looked like he was well off the pace throughout the whole match and when given opportunities with the ball he always made the wrong decision. He will improve given time. When you lose Mallan, McGennis and Loy from a side it's going to be hard to replicate the form and intensity of the last 10 or so games of last season. I have faith in Ross and his management team and he will improve the side with further signings and further training sessions. Have faith buddies we will get better. Rome wasn't built in a day.
  11. Sutton on. That's more like it. Rory Loy is in main stand with a few mates plus Davis sitting with McGennis and rest of saints players in director box. Would be great to sign Davis.
  12. Surprised how few posts there have been on this thread with it being our first competitive home game. My mate was at Partick Thistle v Livingston game on Saturday and said livi were a pretty decent side. Will be a tough shift for us tonight but give us an indication of how we are shaping up as livi always give us a tough game. Think I might sit in the main stand tonight and catch some rays. Any chance they will be selling ice cream at the game tonight? Quite fancy a 99.[emoji41][emoji460][emoji209]
  13. Hope you are enjoying a great holiday bud. Going to be walking the Fife coastal walk at end of August if you are about and fancy a catch up. Will PM you nearer the time. :-) Well done the buds. Sounds like a good solid team performance.
  14. Our first competitive game should see Jack Ross getting the players to raise their game and see us win a hard fought game. Saints to win 2-1. Hope to make it along to Livingston game on Tuesday and see the team for the first time this season.
  15. A good solid addition to the squad. Hopefully a player that will play most weeks and can help us secure a top 4 finish and push for promotion. Welcome to the club Ian. Onwards and upwards!
  16. Any idea how many St Mirren tops are sold in the average season? 1500 including home and away.
  17. Currently on holiday in mainland Spain and there are several Celtic strips on display everyday. The Celtic shop must sell some amount of stock, the figures for shirt sales must be see Celtic inside the top 20 even 10 in Europe . In Britian only a handful of English clubs will sell more than them. Will hopefully pop down on my return from holiday and buy myself the home top for playing at the dome on Wednesdays and get my son the full kit for his birthday. Over £100 just like that.
  18. Mr Wardop I head to Spain on Thursday so it won't be available for my holiday. I wouldn't have been wearing it on holiday but I would have bought one for my son for his 5th birthday next Monday. I don't like saying this but the club have made a complete mess of this launch. I do think they will learn for next year and put this down as a learning experience. Booo!
  19. Phoned the club yesterday afternoon and spoke to reception who advised that the strips might be in end of next week if not then start of following week. With regards to the farce of yesterday's tweets I just wish the club had put out an update saying that the strips would be here within a week or so and on sale for say the 4th of July. Wait til the proper photo shoot has been done before releasing crappy photos of wrong strip. I wish the club had been updating the website giving fans an update rather than silence with regards to strip release date. I would imagine practically every club in our league has their strips on sale by now. Shoddy! The fans 'closed' day is also a farce. We still seem to be struggling with doing the basic PR stuff right.
  20. An Open Day on 9th July exclusively for Season Ticket holders is ludicrous. An Open Day should be open to everyone who wishes to attend and allow the club to spread the good name of St Mirren. Non season tickets holders might attend an open day and be inspired to become season ticket holders. I have just read the message on the website and find that a really strange message to be sending out to St Mirren fans. I thought we were all in this together malarky was working well with the club... but only if you are a season ticket holder.
  21. Fowler and Reilly should have swapped shirts. [emoji41] Still a very smart photo though.
  22. Tommy Wright seems like the most likely candidate should McInnes move on. Alex Neil won't be anywhere near Scottish football for some time. I would say Alex Neil would be a far better appointment at Sunderland than McInnnes as he knows the league and how to get promoted from it. He learned a great deal last season and mistakes that he won't make again at his next Championship club, as he will get another championship managers job sometime very soon. Regardless of this, Jack Ross, won't be getting the Aberdeen gig anytime soon. He has so much more to learn about management before landing a job at the 2nd best team in Scotland. Aberdeen will aiming for someone with a bit more experience than Ross has at this moment.
