  1. Wouldn’t like to see that table based on our games since Robinson came in.
  2. I’d be surprised if Robinson has told Tanser he doesn’t want him. Maybe his injury record is being considered? More likely that Tanser wants away. He’s a better player/option than the likes of Tait and Jones at the moment who’ll be on his bike anyway (was really excited about Jones when we first got him). Who knows what’s going on, but it’s a real worry looking at our dip in form. We need to get it sorted before we end up in the playoffs. The difference in a single league position’s prize money can be the budget for one or two new players too, which is important to a club our size.
  3. Those are worrying comments that have the whiff of a struggling Neil Lennon about them. Not my fault, it’s the players. He doesn’t interview as well as Goodwin, Ross or Kearney. He was obviously p*ssed off with his team today but managers normally back their players publicly. Good chance the players that he’s already told aren’t getting their contracts renewed have their “heads turned”. Looks from the outside looking in that the players who were used to Goodwin’s man management style are struggling to adjust. Hope he knows what he’s doing, but looks like he’s planning a proper clear-out in the summer to put his “stamp on it”.
  4. The biggest factor in our current slide was Goodwin leaving. Robinson has come in and has a very different persona and style to Goodwin. He has a good squad but for whatever reason they haven’t clicked for him. He changed a formation that had us on a great run although the margins are really slim in games. The players don’t seem as motivated or as together and the fact that Robinson had already told players that they won’t be kept on seems weird timing. Goodwin was no Pep but he had finally got they us winning and the defence was really solid. They were horrific today. I think if he hadn’t headed up north we would be sitting comfortably in the top 6. Hopefully Robinson gets things turned around before we end up in the playoff spot. His report card so far is poor even if they aren’t his players. Last game we gave Utd their first away win since well before Christmas and today Motherwell their first win this year. Obviously agree that Robinson needs to be judged once he’s put together his own squad, starting with a keeper. He definitely needs time and lots of it by the looks of things so far.
  5. Absolute shambles. We don’t look like a team anymore. Even when we score the players don’t look that fussed. Everything looks really flat on the pitch and on our bench. Players just going through to be motions. Brophy really unlucky with the one that hit the post but very few positives other than him. Defence had been really poor and Lyness is a bombscare. Looks like Well are on course for their first win of the year.
  6. Covid? Just guessing, seems strange that they are all missing. Can’t all be injured after the break surely.
  7. Been ‘stop, start’ due to being unlucky with injuries. He puts in a good shift. Needs somebody to play off up front, but you could see him going on a good scoring run with the right service and avoiding injuries. He is a bit greedy at times but we have a recent history of overplaying a bit when we get into the last 3rd. I don’t mind his directness and shots peppering the stands if he bangs in a few of them. Having Brophy and Grieve signed up for next season is a big plus for me.
  8. Conor hasn’t made the squad for tonight’s game against Belgium. Shame for the lad but still a good experience going over there and training with the squad. I’m sure his time will come. He’s got the talent and seems a good lad.
  9. Reading that Greive is the first Saints player to score an international goal in 58 years. Surprised at that stat. Thought Gunni would’ve managed it, but last scored for Iceland just before he joined us. Great achievement for Alex, must feel a bit of a whirlwind for him. A big plus for him and the club.
  10. Was at hospitality yesterday and was well lubricated so the game seemed to fly by, even with the extra half hour that the ref added on at the end. Game of 2 halves. Utd didn’t lay a glove on us first half, brilliant goal from wee Jay and looking like we were cruising to a victory. Second half was a disgrace. Although we lost the second with the last kick/header of the ball we deserved nothing. Tam Courts changed their shape and we couldn’t cope. We were second to every ball and panicked whenever we actually got the ball at our feet. Every time Ronan got the ball he had no options to hit. When Main came on, supposedly fresh, he couldn’t be arsed closing down their defenders building from the back or chasing through balls. What was Alnwick thinking trying to come out for that ball when we had defenders back? Watt actually gave a blatant shove on one of our tracking defenders which would have earned us a foul just before Jak took all the ref’s attention from that when he flattened Watt. That is a very ordinary Utd side’s first away league win since October. Well done to Shaughnessy, Erhahon and Henderson for coming up to do their duties in hospitality after the game. No sign of our manager who was allegedly telling fans to F*** off on the way off the pitch. Agree that we need to be patient and Robinson needs to be judged fully this time next season but his start has been really poor. Goodwin jumped ship but he left us with a good squad full of confidence. Hopefully Robinson can turn us around, but if we get beat by Well, I’m starting to look anxiously down the table rather than up.
  11. Aberdeen are welcome to Alnwick. Sold the jersey’s today, although the second half is possibly the worst I’ve seen us play this season. Absolutely gutting today.
  12. I think that Mugabi straight red should mean he’s suspended for the game against us, which is a wee boost.
  13. Much better interview. Agree with everything Stephen said there and think given time he will do a good job for us. Always prefer managers that give honest interviews, one of Goodwin’s strengths. It gets the fans onside too. The next 3 games before the split are tough but hopefully he can get positive results against the Arabs and Well and some momentum, then buzzing before the zombies arrive in Paisley (hopefully with one eye on an upcoming European tie).
  14. What about Ronan’s strike tonight?Reminded me of Faddy’s goal against France. There seemed to be second delay on the roar because of the shock of what we just saw. Phenomenal goal. Talented player that has similar goals in his locker to Adam Hammill for us, although Ronan looks a better all round player. Be interesting to see where he ends up next season but we should enjoy watching hIm for us for the rest of the season. Hopefully he produces more magic in the remaining games.
  15. We definitely lost our shape when he made these changes. Henderson for Jones and crack would’ve done but we looked finished and didn’t have a sniff after that. Was a big ask tonight to be fair but when that Ronan’s peach went in I really thought we were looking good.
  16. Probably the best we’ve played in spells since Robinson arrived. Woeful defending for their 3rd when we looked on top. No excuses, Hesrts deserved it. Plenty to build on though. A wee side note. Looks like Jak is on his way and will deservedly earn a decent move. Been great for us but for me Hladky was a better keeper.
  17. Great win last night. Gutted I couldn’t make it when Dens is a 20 minute drive from my house. Clubs that don’t sell away tickets on the day/night must lose a fair bit of dosh. Still had a good bounce in the living room with my son thanks to Dee TV. The scenes in the away end looked absolutely magic when Ronan scored. Thought it was going to be one of these nights after the chances we spurned. The Jones volley being the worst. We’ve played better this season, but 3 valuable points, Brophy put in a great shift and looked like he’s getting back up to speed and Henderson skinning McMullen then whipping in the peach of a cross was brilliant. Last night will have given the team and the fans a big lift. Bring on the Jambos.
  18. Huge game tomorrow that could arguably shape the rest of our season. Ronan being back is a big boost as hard to see where else goals will come from at the moment. Surely it won’t the fourth game in a row without us scoring. Robinson’s chance to supposedly put “ his stamp” on it. Hopefully it’s not a Main starting and 5 at the back shaped stamp.
  19. St Mirren manager Stephen Robinson: "It's very disappointing. I've come in and tried to just go along with what was there but now I have to go and try to put my stamp on it. Strange comment from our gaffer…
  20. As we’ll as playing Main, he also seems to have replaced Fraser with Tait. Favouring his old Well boys? I think we were all disappointed when we saw the team lineup today with the 3 centre halves. Our season turned round when we changed away from that. Has no one told Robinson this? Huge game regarding league positions and top 6 and we didn’t turn up. County were poor too. Need a big improvement against Dundee in a few days. Hopefully he’ll learn from today.
  21. A win today would be massive. Would be a big boost for Robinson and take a wee bit of pressure off, getting his first win under his belt (not that you’d be critical of him for the results in his first 2 tricky games). The league is so tight that points leading up to the split are vital. Wins can shoot you up a few positions in the league. Draw wouldn’t be a disaster but a defeat makes things look a lot more challenging re the top six. If Main starts today the natives will start getting restless, barring the miracle of him actually scoring. 3-2 Saints and the Buddies travelling up there having a good bounce. Fingers crossed.
