  1. He was loving every second of it. You can tell he's very happy with Saints ATM, it's great to win the league but when you see just how much it means to guys like Sammy it's even better:
  2. I must query this. Was this a quick push it out and wipe up, or did he leave the warm up early to get maximum effectiveness from his crap?
  3. Mines were quite boring. I had three scarfs and would swap over to a different one every time we lost the last game. That and making sure I always got a Scotch Pie at whatever ground we would be playing at that day.
  4. In fairness I thought Kirkpatrick would be a decent signing, his goals haul was excellent last season. It appears he's done alright this season with Alloa, perhaps L1 is just his level or perhaps he does have a future in the Championship, but it wasn't the right time with us. Regarding O'Ware, is this his second time in TOTS? If so, it shows a level of consistency unlike the one season wonders of Hutton. Not at all sure if O'Ware has achieved this previously. I get your last point but I'll take Naismith back though. He's a local lad too so perhaps it increases the likelihood of such a move happening.
  5. Others must have seen something in O'Ware to put him in Team of the Year. After all none of us have watched him in every game this season (I presume!). If he joins then he will improve our chances from set pieces seeing as he constantly beat our current players to the ball, so we'll gain in that respect. Jack has built this team first to survive, then to succeed. If the rumours are true and Jack genuinely believes O'Ware would be a good addition, then I'm behind Jack. In Jack we trust.
  6. Would love them to come down this way. Argyle, Exeter, any of the Bristol sides, Yeovil, Torquay would be brilliant.
  7. I'm sure most of the stadium is probably decent for viewing but have you ever ventured into the shitey away end we usually get? Having visited around half the stadiums in the top 4 tiers I still haven't found one worse for viewing yet than that corner area. Either got that stupid pillar in the way or you are low enough down and still end up with a shite view.
  8. Hampton & Richmond 3-1 Truro City AET. Vanarama National League South next season it is then. Happy to say it was an ex-Bodmin Town (my local team down here) player who put Truro into the lead. Not so happy about the end result, but shit happens.
  9. I was only 7 when we won the league in 99-00 and had yet to attend a football match so I can't really count that in anything. Out of the other two, it has to be this one. Purely because of where we were last season and the belief that League One was going to be a reality. To turn things around so quickly and see this as the end result is fascinating. Not to say 05-06 wasn't special though. A cup double with a brilliant day out at Airdrie for the final (it was the first time I seen us lift silverware), and that day we pumped Motherwell 3-0 in the Scottish Cup was exhilerating.
  10. Alloa Athletic 2-0 Raith Rovers Arbroath 1-2 Dumbarton Stirling Albion 0-1 Peterhead
  11. For f**k sake. I had 3-2 to Roma on my Champions League predictor. Alloa Athletic 2-0 Raith Rovers Arbroath 1-2 Dumbarton Stirling Albion 0-1 Peterhead Hampton & Richmond 1-1 Truro City, into extra time. Come on the Truro!
  12. In a financial sense Brechin were probably delighted. They did bugger all to invest in the squad but would have taken solid gate receipts from ourselves, Dundee United, while other clubs in this league will bring better attendances than your average L1 side. Their average attendance was higher than Dumbarton's! As for the players...
  13. Dipping further into the non-league, the Lowland League promotion playoff is between Threave Rovers (South winners) and Kelty Hearts (East winners). Barely know anything about non league but I'm presuming both these clubs want promotion. What I'm also unsure of is do they automatically replace Hawick or do they face a playoff match first?
  14. That's brilliant! Would be nice to see more light hearted things like this in football.
  15. Robbie Leitch scored the equaliser for Queen's Park last night. Tonight's Fixtures Alloa Athletic v Raith Rovers Arbroath v Dumbarton Stirling Albion v Peterhead
  16. Scumthorpe United 2-0 Argyle last night leaves Plymouth needing a last day win coupled with a Charlton defeat on the final day to make the playoffs. And Charlton have a goal difference advantage of 6...looks like it's not going to happen Robbie Leitch bagged Queen's Park's equaliser last night. Cove Rangers v Cowdenbeath for the L2 spot...can Cowden defend it two years running? Tonight is the big one in Cornish terms. First round of the Vanarama National League South playoffs, Hampton & Richmond v Truro City. Winner plays Chelmsford in the next round. Come on the Truro!
  17. This. Davis, McGinn and Flynn were three good signings from English L1 and L2 level and there will be many more players in those two leagues capable of doing a job for us. A chunk of L1 players may be out of our reach regarding wages but I'd imagine we could compete with L2 clubs and perhaps lower half L1 clubs for players. Scottish Championship players should be taken with warning as the step up is obviously not easy. We seen similar with Kirkpatrick (who smashed in 17 goals last season for Alloa before joining us) and the Stewart's opportunities were limited too in regards to the step up from L1 to Championship.
  18. Tynecastle has always been a favourite of mine. We take a good support there, Hearts fans fill their own seats, atmosphere is good, and it's one of the best views you get at an away ground in Scotland. I like Rugby Park as well, again the view is decent and the pies are to die for. Ive only experienced two terraced grounds, Ayr and East Stirling (who were playing at Ochilview so technically Stenhousemuir). The different experience from a usual SPL game was brilliant, when we played Ayr in the Scottish Cup a few years ago we had that stand plus the side bit completely full. The atmosphere created was incredible, loved every minute of it. Worst? Easily Celtic. Horrendous view, constant abuse from the junkies in close range to you, and instead of feeling like a football game it feels more like you've opted to spend a day in the stocks. Never been back since.
  19. Always a live game. You experience the thrill of goals among fellow fans, whereas pubs will be more mixed and generally don't contain St Mirren fans in Cornwall. You can't experience an atmosphere properly at home. And you cannot beat a great away day. I don't watch much televised football. I'll watch any Saints game. I made an effort to watch Ayr v Killie on the opening day of the season, and that was an excellent match. But most of the time I can't be arsed to sit through 90 mins on tv if it doesn't involve Saints. I usually stick to MOTD and the live goals show in the CL group stages on BT which shows you goals, near misses, saves etc as they happen/have just happened. I can't be bothered with the knockouts, just check the results, might watch the final. I will only watch the FA Cup if it's a lower league side against a higher league side, EPL match ups in the cup don't have the romance of the low v high ties. The exception to the rule is the World Cup/Euros where I will watch any match if I am free to. Im an avid lover of the international tournaments, perhaps because they both only come round every four years. Live always beats TV. I couldn't afford to come up and see us win the cup in 2013 and as great as it was to see it on tv, it was never going to match actually being there. Having had experiences of the 3-2 comeback at Motherwell, the 2-0 at Falkirk when we played out of our skin to survive, pumping Celtic, McGinn's winner v Rangers (1872-2012) at Love Street, it's very easy to say being there is much better than having the tv experience.
  20. That would just make us look like a smaller version of Killie. Having a stadium only 1/3 full doesn't look as good as a smaller stadium looking 1/2 to 3/4 full. Long term it would mean higher maintainance costs as well.
  21. Even Flanagan at Elgin? That's a lot of travelling every week.
  22. McCart was an emergency loan when we were down to 1 CB Stewart (GK) hasn't had much chance as Samson has been decent all season, and hasn't been injured or suspended. Buchanan was alright, scored goals (we've missed him at set pieces since he left) and my reckoning is he was part of a swap (plus cash?) deal to get Mullen in. Hence why Donati was then brought in, mainly just as extra cover, JR wanted to prioritise other areas once we were back to 4 fit CBs. Hill (like Donati) was brought over in January when we were playing well. Only Flynn and Mullen has managed to gain a place in the starting XI from the Jan signings. A few on here believe there's a talented player in Todd and he's just been unlucky with injuries during his time in Paisley. As for the others, no manager is perfect. I think the fact that Jack took us from "club on the way to League One" to "club heading to the SPL) shows that his signings generally are on the money.
