  1. I think it's a gloryhunter thing. They cannot fathom why some of us don't find it impressive that Brendan is on the verge of back to back trebles. In truth it's the equivalent of St Mirren winning the Lowland League, Junior Cup and some other random trophy of non-league stature, the financial gap is ridiculous. Celtic have walked a league which they are expected to having more resources than the rest of us put together. We've walked a league where you could have considered 3 or 4 other teams would be realistic challengers at the start of the season. Any half decent manager would bring trebles to Celtic right now (I'm not for a minute trying to suggest Rodgers is only half decent, he clearly had an excellent impact on their mental attributes to keep them going for the unbeaten season last year without dropping gears), but it takes a damn good one to do what Jack Ross has done this season.
  2. Absolutely delighted for Jack. A deserved reward for a season where we eased to the title in a tough league. I dread to think where we would be now had we employed someone else. Loving the meltdown from the bigot fans. It's even better because they would have accepted Lennon winning it, but because it's neither him or Brendan they are bitter as f**k
  3. I have seen that Cowdenbeath have been struggling recently. One thing with relegation though would be that it would cut travel costs at least. One of the difficulties for the Shire is that there are clubs in the Lowland League quite keen on promotion (Kilby, Spartans, while there was Edinburgh City who did gain promotion) while perhaps there is less interest for the Highland teams due to the extra travelling involved. I reckoned Cove were doing that, seen they got pumped 3-0 a couple of weeks ago when the title was already won. Amazingly Fort William weren't bottom last year and they only conceded 136! Perhaps we need a second tier Highland League to pressure them into progress
  4. Raith will be favourites but as we see so often, that means nothing in the playoffs (Brechin winning last year for instance). Alloa are a decent side and will make it very tough. Cove look decent but then again Kilby looked good last year, Brora did in the first edition too. I guess it depends how buggered Cowdenbeath are. If Cove beat Cowden, I presume the Cows will end up in the Lowland League. What happens then as both Highland/Lowland would go to 17 teams? Never seen anything that's covered potential numbers in both leagues. Not seen anything either on Hawick being relegated from Lowland/someone choosing to take the promotion they've earned such as the Edusport/Preston swapover last summer.
  5. It would be a shame to see Dumbarton go down, they've fought hard for years and have been an example to other part time clubs of how to succeed at a higher level. I reckon Alloa Athletic will take the Championship spot beating Dumbarton in the final. Peterhead to beat Stenny in the final to gain promotion. I reckon Cowdenbeath will keep their L2 spot and beat Cove.
  6. That was the point, that's what LPM is doing hence IoB's comments Definitely with you on Clarke. He hasn't even had the full season yet they are 5th...if he was there from the start he could have had them fighting for 2nd. He's the clear winner in my eyes.
  7. The point IoB is getting at is that LPM is directly comparing Ross to Lennon for next season. Hibs fans would have expected a quick return to the top 6 as one of Scotland's bigger clubs. Any season we make the Top 6 would be an excellent achievement. Falkirk and Pars are clubs we would place ourselves on a similar level to, Dundee United f**ked up in a league they should have won. What I'm trying to say is IoB is right to question LPM on comparing what Ross does next season to Lennon this season. Hibs being Top 6 is no surprise, perhaps what is surprising is how close they are to 2nd. None of us expect a Top 6 finish next season. Lennon's budget on promotion would dwarf what we have going into next season.
  8. Thank you for all of your efforts Stelios. A key part of our survival last season, and he played his part this season too. One of the things I loved most was his understanding of what the team means to the fans. Watching him on the way back to his position after Morgan's winner against the Ton, Stelios was only looking one way - at the West Stand taking it all in. The bounty at Cappielow was brilliant as well. You will be missed Stelios, highly entertaining, you'll always be a part of this incredible journey we've been on the last 18 months, and a connection with the fans that many players don't ever achieve. Thank you. Good luck for your future.
  9. Relegation next season then, Duffy was a decent manager. You can't expect Morton to regularly compete with Dundee United, ICT, Falkirk, Dunfermline Athletic and whichever club/s drop down from the top flight. And unless Arbroath come up, they won't have a Brechin City to save their arses either.
  10. Montrose will sell 1,500 season tickets next season Source: Ricky
  11. That would be the Neil Lennon, in charge of a Hibs side who most definitely will have a wage budget among the Top 5 in the Premier League. Who sit 4th. Granted they are in the battle for 2nd, if they finish 2nd I'd consider it. Finish 4th, I wouldn't. You can't say Lennon has achieved more this season when you are banging on about JR's budget and ignoring Lennon's. Secondly - how can you be so sure our budget was higher than ICT and Falkirk? Even Dunfermline must be on a similar level of spending. To clarify my own position, I posted earlier in this thread and said Clarke was my pick for MOTY. I do believe JR deserves to be in the nominations. I also stated I'd replace Rodgers and Lennon (barring a 2nd placed finish) with Hopkin as you mentioned, and Petrie at Montrose.
  12. Round-Up Premier League Hibs keep up the pressure on Aberdeen for the battle for 2nd after a 5-3 win over Killie. Killie destined for 5th now, Hearts 6th. Something about a bigot fest tomorrow. Pile of shite. Massive win for Accies over County. RC are now 2Pts behind Partick, and Partick are 4 behind Accies and Dundee. 'Well and Fakes are mathematically safe and 6/9 pts clear of the others. Championship Super St Mirren - CHAMPIONS Playoff Battle Dunfermline Athletic v Dundee United. Winner plays Livingston, then next winner plays 11th PL side. The Pars sealed their place today after pumping Dumbarton 4-0, who had Craig Barr sent off after just 9 minutes. ICT pump M*rt*n 3-0 at Cappielow but miss out on playoffs by 2Pts. QOTS pip Ton to 6th. Falkirk 8th. Dumbarton in playoff, Brechin finish with a record of 0-4-32. League One Absolutely cracking finish to the season. Ayr United 2-0 Albion Rovers had massive implications for both clubs. Raith Rovers 0-0 Alloa Athletic meant party time at Somerset Park and an immediate return to the Championship for Ayr. Queen's Park 3-0 Arbroath meant QP have a chance of survival at the expense of Albion, who have been relegated. Alloa take 3rd by 1pt above Arbroath. Stranraer 5th, East Fife 6th, 1pt above New Airdrieonians in 7th. Forfar 8th. Playoffs (Promotion) Dumbarton v Arbroath Alloa Athletic v Raith Rovers League Two An exciting last day here too. Half time looked favourable to Peterhead, but Montrose equalised on 50 and did enough to earn a 1-1 draw with Elgin and seal the title. Peterhead fought to the end against Edinburgh City and didn't let an 82nd minute equaliser stop them, finding a winner in the 90th minute. But the Mo win L2 by 1pt. Stirling and Stenhousemuir are in the playoffs after a 1-1 draw, while Clyde who were supposed to threaten them fell 2-1 to Berwick. Blair Henderson had Annan 2-0 up after just 4 minutes at relegation threatened Cowdenbeath, and no more goals were seen. Clyde finish 5th, 2Pts above Elgin in 6th, 2Pts above Annan in 7th. Berwick 8th, Edinburgh City 9th. Playoffs (Promotion) Queen's Park v Stenhousemuir Peterhead v Stirling Albion Non League Playoff Cove Rangers 4-0 Spartans Looks like the Highland League side will be taking on Cowdenbeath in the playoff for the L2 spot. Paul McManus netted a double, Eric Watson and Mitch Megginson scored the other goals. Highland League Results Formartine United 2-1 Wick Academy, Fort William 3-7 Turriff United, Strathspey Thistle 0-7 Brora Rangers. Fortmartine United confirm an excellent 2nd place above Inverurie Loco Works. Fort William have 1 match left build on their 4pts and have now conceded 181 goals in 33 matches, an average of 5.48 goals a game.
  13. Done my usual Wullie Hill 7 team sections slip, for the fourth week in five I've finished 5W 1D 1L. Wigan my draw and Bradford my defeat today. On the plus side when I do it for the final time next week until the new season, the £40 I spent (£1 a week) has seen two bets come in totalling at £151.03, so presuming the likelihood next week's bet doesn't come in I'm £111.03 up this season. My mate who does the same has yet to see one come in this season and has only managed 6/7 once. Yet he's beating me 16-15 (8 Draws) in who does better each week I'd rather have the profit margin!
  14. That was one hell of a pre-season... Stunning turnaround in the end. Once they eventually got going they clicked and that was it. Testament to the job Derek Adams has done there.
  15. I love how Graham Carey is smashing it at the closest League team to me. The Argyle Ship keeps on sailing...
  16. For me it's got to be Steve Clarke. He's turned Killie into something brilliant, and has them fighting among Scotland's richer clubs. Rugby Park is near enough a fortress now and they aren't too bad on the road either. He's worked wonders since the day he arrived. Jack deserves to be in this list for the same reasons, but the one thing that makes me go with Clarke is that realistically while last season was a last day survival, there was certainly a feeling we would have a good season. We were probably 2nd favourites to the Arabs to win the league based on season ending form, perhaps ICT/Falkirk would be placed at our level before the season kicked off. Were Killie expected to claim 5th place? I wouldn't have said so. They were fodder this season until Clarke came in and he had an immediate impact, JR had really begun his project in January. That's a 5th place for Killie which involved a shit start under McCulloch. No surprise Rodgers is on the list but does he deserve it? When it comes to domestic football in Scotland he has the easiest job of them all. Even Tommy Craig wouldn't be able to f**k them up that quickly. Shouldn't be on there tbh. Lennon at Hibs? Usually if a club comes up from the Championship and goes straight to 4th in the Premier League you'd say yes. But Hibs have resources that most of us don't. Hibs fans would have expected Top 6 immediately. Decent season for them and they've caused problems for Celtic, but MOTY? Bugger off. Who would I have in there in place of Rodgers and Lennon? Possibly Hopkin at Livi as 2nd place is an excellent effort, most of us on here had them 7th or below. Major surprise package this season. Stewart Petrie at Montrose has done well, a draw today clinches the title and promotion. I wouldn't have thought the Mo would be beating the likes of Peterhead, Stirling and Stenny to the title.
  17. I went with Lewis in the main POTY but Cammy in the YPOTY, as people have said it's been a team effort and it didn't feel right to put one player in both. Big well done to Lewis and Stephen, they deserve it, both have been huge not just this season, but in the last 18 months helping our survival last season too. Well done to them both.
  18. I'd imagine Clyde could potentially have some red and Elgin some black but these are guesses. Airdrie are usually white but commonly have the red to represent the diamond. Edinburgh City maybe if not the first two.
  19. At a complete guess, Clyde or Elgin City? I haven't bought either of their tops this season so I can't be sure.
  20. The Faroese posties were from Faroese clubs Klaksvik, B36 Torshavn and Runavik, all preparing for a potential Europa League tie against Sevco. None of them want the humiliation of being pumped out of Europe by a shitey pretend football club who have only existed for 6 years and haven't even won anything bigger than the Petrofac Cup. (Yes, those are the real Faroe Islands clubs who will partake in the EL. Yes, I looked this up. Cannot confirm the scouts are posties)
  21. Completely unrelated to John McGinn but reading this post from the OP shows exactly how our success isn't just the one season, it's been 18 months worth of hard work and effort. This post summed up all of our feelings in January 2017. Who'd have thought April 2018 would be the month we regained our place in Scotland's top flight? What a journey.
  22. Falkirk's average also surpassed ours, which is disappointing when you look at how the season's panned out. They've been down in this league for 9 years as well now.
  23. I believe this is the reason that David Longwell brought Lewis to the Saints academy after his release from OldCo/SevCo whichever one. I remember reading his interview in the last few months where he wanted players who showed a willingness to progress and develop, as the effort is absolutely key. Many young guys are talented but the truly good ones are the ones who put in the work. Longwell clearly seen that in Lewis and now we all have too. And what a perfect way to finish his home career here (should he not return), sticking it right up the M*rt*n fans thank you for all your efforts Lewis, thank you for sticking with us to get this club back where it belongs. Best of luck to you in your future, you are an example to all other young players out there.
