  1. I agree Bud, but the point I was making was that we lost to the big teams a helluva lot less back then than we do now. Take the cup tie at parkhead the season before last. We turned up with great belief. Turned in arguably one of our best performances of that season. Gave Celtic a right good run for their money. However, ultimately we still got comfortably spanked 4-1. its so much more difficult to get a result against them these days than it was in the past. As for Stubbs, if he walked out the door tomorrow I’d be delighted, but if we are going to have to sack him, then I suspect he’ll be given at least the first quarter until we have matched up to all the teams in the league.
  2. I agree with the sentiment of your post Billy in the sense of having an “already defeated” attitude. However you can’t seriously compare the difference between us and Celtic back then to today. It’s night and day. The old firm didn’t have everything their own way back then and were reasonably regularly beaten by many teams, not just us. Hiw many times have we beaten Celtic in the last 30 years? 3 jump out at me. The Mowbray game, the Mehmet penalty cup tie, and the league cup semi final. In fact how many times do Celtic lose or drop points in a season these days. Very rarely. If it’s ever understandable to think you’re going to lose a game these days, then it’s against Celtic. To repeat, I agree with the sentiment, but the comparison to the Fergie years is way off the mark.
  3. Looks like that fantastic second half team has turned up again. What joy!
  4. Erm....yes. Surely the quality part is down to Stubbs if he is the manager. I'd have thought Fitzy's job was mainly to get them over the line, not to judge the quality. That's the manager's job surely?
  5. Aye that’s them. Are you telling me that’s no Scarlett and Charlize??? Lying hussies!!!
  6. I find that little green face most insulting FS. And so do Scarlett and Charlize.
  7. My small glimmer of hope is that we’ll eventually sort this mess out and that we won’t get relegated, but no, I have not even the slightest glimmer of hope that we will win on Saturday. On the contrary, if I didn’t have a personal rule of never ever betting against St. Mirren, I’d be hoovering up some of those multiple goal defeat bets that were getting mentioned. I’ll do a deal with you. If we win on Saturday I’ll post the photies of that time I had the threesome with Scarlett Johansson and Charlize Theron.
  8. This was quite simply a pointless thread other than being designed to cause another rammy. Only the most deluded, rosy cheeked optimist would think there is even the slightest possibility of the subject matter being put to the test. This thread serves no purpose whatsoever. Ask it again when we’re playing St. Johnstone or Hamilton or Motherwell and I might think there’s a bit of sincerity in the question.
  9. Right, can so many of you stop dismissing Kenny Miller. I cannae keep track of all of you so I can come back later in the season to point and laugh at you.
  10. Oops!! Meant to quote EAB not yours Shull.
  11. I remember that. The BBC did a “Road to Hampden” thing where the picked a first round tie and then followed the winners of each subsequent tie to the final. Saints featured in two of the rounds. They started with the Stirling Albion v Selkirk game. Cowdenbeath beat the Binos in the next round and then we skelped Cowden 4-0 on a miserable night (remains the only time I’ve ever been to Central Park). We then won away at Ayr (brilliant day) before getting horsed 4-1 at home by Dundee Utd.
  12. Bold statement Hendo. Let’s bookmark these posts then wait and see.
  13. IF.....Miller plays regularly, he will not only score against us, but several other teams this season. I for one don’t regard this as dodging a bullet, I believe it’s a missed opportunity. I’m disappointed.
  14. Yes he does need to be given till Christmas because he needs to be the one taking the flak for the utterly shite squad HE has put together. I don’t want another manager to have to come in with no ability to change the squad until January, so that someone like LPM can come along 18 months later to say what a shite manager he was for the first 6 months of his tenure. If by Christmas we’re as good as relegated then so be it. We go down and we start again.
  15. What the actual f**k is wrong with a captain high fiving one of his teammates when he comes on as a sub??
  16. I’d imagine his response would be to tell Stubbs to ram his job up his arse, sign for one of our competitors next week and come back to haunt us on a regular basis. There is only one person I want to see leaving the club and it is that useless sack of shit cowering in the dug out.
  17. In all seriousness, what is wrong with them? Obviousky it’s ridiculous to suggest they are all scumbags, but as individuals incidents like this seem to happen more often with their fans than anyone else, and as a collective they can’t seem to travel anywhere without there being trouble. I’m sure they are actually getting worse. If it’s possible to “hate” a group of people that you don’t know, then few groups would come above them for me. IS, BNP, EDL maybe, but beyond those (in the context of groups that directly affect this country), I’m struggling to think of a group of people I dislike more.
  18. Completely disagree. We can discount the Aberdeen and Rangers games because everyone was shite and we can’t drop the whole team. We saw in the Spartans game what happens when he doesn’t play and what happened when he was brought on. Dropping McGinn is a frankly ridiculous notion.
  19. If Stephen McGinn gets dropped it will be the most f**king idiotic decision from Stubbs yet and will not enhance my already dubious opinion of hm to date. I refuse to believe that will be the “big news”. It’s simply too daft.
  20. The Arithmetic O Level was a pure skoosh. If ye didnae get an A ye were a bit of a thicky in ma humble opinion. Mind you, it sometimes threw up some wee cheeky bizum questions. I always mind we were doing a past paper in the class as part of our revision ahead of the exams. One of the questions was “What is the first leap year to come after 1978?”. The amount of people who answered 1982 was incredible.
  21. There is always a fair amount of rancid tedious pish on this board just like any other, but this thread has to be in the running for the most coma inducing thread of the year so far. I will not be returning to it, other than to check how many likes I get for this magnificent post.
  22. I had completely forgotten that there were tickets for the OF games.
  23. Sounds right. Remember Strachan in that game. He looked good. Albeit we gubbed them. Think we were fairly well up early doors.
