  1. Sounds like the new boys just need to be sharper in their finishing. This game is not over
  2. Thank you, I had a feeling it was none too smart but was afraid to look! TC comes across as a good guy but is clearly nobody's fool whereas Danny seemed anxious to please too many and perhaps was overly loyal at times. TC has great experience in handling players. That might just be the difference this season
  3. Just out of interest any stattos out there tell us how many times we have won our first game of the season? This could shape up to be a very interesting season, especially in the first quarter as we have recruited a number of new faces we will be an unknown quantity to other teams. I like the cut of TCs jib as his philosophy of playing attractive football comes across really well. Time will tell.
  4. After living down here for over thirty years it would wrong of me to offer an opinion on Scottish matters. However it does tickle me to find so many people who couldn't give a fiddlers fling about Scotland suddenly have an opinion. Furthermore they keep trying to draw me on what I think. I always give them the same answer that it's none of my business or theirs. It looks like the undecided may sway the outcome as it appears that both yes voters and no voters are firmly entrenched. I watch with interest and may the best man win. I had reason to visit Glasgow recently and found it to be much more alive and vibrant than I remembered. Why that is I don't know but there was a great vibe about the place and I saw little evidence of doom and gloom ( aside from the silent beggars who I silently told to f&@k off)
  5. Who's in charge of the remote control?
  6. Great pix on flikr. Can't believe I'm saying this but the new strip looks better than I thought it would. The broad white down the sleeves looks really good, offsetting the pinstripe. I still believe yellow has no place on a saints top but I understand why it's included. That's the way it goes with teams these days. I just hope we don't do a Cardiff and lose our identity all together.
  7. A very very late goal by bobby Torrance at ibrox sticks in the old memory with all the sad faces shuffling past us in the main stand at ibrox
  8. Of all the players leaving, johns departure actually makes me quite sad irrespective of how much money we might make. The boy himself is a real hard worker and that, along with his exceptional talent will ensure he goes a long way in the game. He has been with us since he was a boy and his style of play will be hugely missed. In years to come when he is at the top of his profession we can say he was one of ours. I only hope he makes the right decision for him. I'm sure he will. Good luck son
  9. Good to see us building from the back. Kello is quality and is sure to have had other options but has chosen to stay, very good news for other prospective signings. Good players attract good players. It's been said that we can't compete with other teams wages. Perhaps bringing on the young lads and playing them alongside Kello and Thommo will mould us into a well organised team. As long as we don't touch any ex Hibs players we'll be fine! This is TCs chance to build his own side and there is definitely cause for cautious optimism
  10. Yes, hire cars still display a large H on the plate, it's kind of code for " keep away". The stadium is kind of centralish and was rebuilt a number of years ago with a new stand and the whole pitch rotated 180 degrees so that the sun shine right into the stand! ( great planners here too) where did you stay when you were here and I could give you an idea of the stadium in relation to your hotel if you like.
  11. I would be very happy indeed if the Buddies came to Jersey. We have had Hibs and Celtic in the past along with a host of EPL teams. the games tend to have an exhibition feel about them but I wouldn't give a stuff about that. I have managed to get a good number of fans of English teams interested in our results so it would be fab if we could get a kind of Isle of Man tournament with a few English teams involved. The main stadium( Springfield) would comfortably hold a couple of thousand and has played host to u17s from Scotland and Northern Ireland. one can but dream!
  12. Darren mcgregor reminds me of Billy stark when he going forward with the ball at his feet. Perhaps a more midfield role would suit him as he does appear to lose his man in defence, thus allowing us to free up space for a new defender while keeping a good footballer at the club.
  13. It's possible that some other club will poach him
  14. if we can make a couple of strong signings over the summer then it changes everything in terms of potential for all concerned. Something I've always been impressed with about jim Goodwin is that he believes in winning or losing as a team and not hiding or throwing someone under a bus which DL used to do regularly in his early days. We now have three strong, experienced characters at the helm who are not scared to step up to the mark. That's what's needed when you have limited resources and perhaps can't compete with the top teams in terms of standard of footballer. Make no mistake, no St Mirren team will chuck it with these guys in charge.
  15. If a bearded lady can win eurovision then anythings possible
  16. Many of the regular match goers on here have commented that it was TC who was out on the touchline shouting instructions and encouraging players while DL sat on his hands in the dugout. While that in itself is not necessarily the sign of a good manager it certainly shows commitment and passion. There is also the general sense that TC has a gift for developing the younger players and that may what the board are looking for.
  17. Has TC ever been a manager? Or has he always been assistant. While the news is not thrilling it might just be his time to take the reins and be his own man. I know it's not about nice guys but TC comes across as a jolly decent fellow who is clearly a football man through and through
  18. Oh I feel such a tit cos I didn't read the post fully. Good excuse, just up and a migraine starting. Anyway back to the new Manager. If we are taken over by a foreign investor there is a reasonable chance the new manager will also be foreign which will blow the speculation wide open. Let's hope it's pretty quick one way or the other, what with a few players out of contract and some of the ones still around clearly not good enough. We won't attract any players until we have someone new in charge. Get on with it!
  19. Don't blame it on the sunshine, don't blame it on the moonlight, don't blame it on the good times, blame it on .............
  20. I'm sure Murray is a coach with great potential, but surely there must be a worry as to whether or not he could handle a job with a club the size of ours. Danny suffered greatly from this as his signings from Cowdenbeath would indicate. Danny thought they could make the step up and it was bigger than he realised. I think it would be too risky to go through that again. The board have a tricky situation on their hands. Such as, are they involved in appointing the next manager, or do the new owners( whoever they may be) have someone lined up. Someone in the mould of Derek Mcinnes who has no fear of any opposition would be ideal. Danny sometimes gave the impression that he was just happy to be at the party particularly against some of the bigger clubs where he showed far too much respect to them. mcinnes has shown that with enough self belief you can take on anyone. Owen Coyle gives the same impression and I for one would be delighted to see him in charge of St Mirren
  21. Very mixed emotions. Firstly, Danny Lennon is clearly a man of great integrity and represented our club magnificently, quite often in the face of ridiculous criticism eg jim goodwins treatment by refs and other managers. He clearly cares about our great club and it's supporters and these days that's rare. Unfortunately the results on the park are what it's really about and if only they had been better we would not be looking for another Manager. A lot of speculation will surface over the next while but only the chairman and the board members really know what will happen next.I kind of love/ hate these scenarios as they have the potential to work well or be a disaster( obviously). I, like others, will never forget the day we won the league cup and the emotion that went with it. Thank you Mr Lennon.
  22. Don't know if this is the right thread but what's all the fuss about Morton game finishing at 10 2 ? I though all the games finished at 10 2 on a Saturday. Back to us, what a fantastic run of results for our boys. Showing once again that when the chips are down we can really play. Let's hope the close season brings some exciting news, but for now, fantastic boys!! Well done.
  23. I've tried to find him on YouTube, but I can only find highlights
