  1. I wonder where Angus Watt is hiding nowadays.
  2. In his early 20s DB worked just down the office from me in the Finance department in Chrysler in Linwood. He dipped into the handbag of one of his female colleagues and nicked a cheque from the back of her cheque book. It was weeks later before she discovered she had been robbed. I can't go along with the (almost romantic) image of him as the happy-go-lucky, cheeky chappie thief. Shoplifting from a large store like John Menzies might seem like a victimless crime to some people but some of his individual victims suffered genuinely significant losses. He is just a nasty, despicable arsehole who stole from working people that couldn't afford the loss.
  3. Another defeat at home today and more serious issues to be debated but something really bugged me today. I wonder if there is any chance that responsibility for the setting up of the notices / birthdays / advertisements posted on the "big" screen during match days could be passed on to somebody within the club who possesses a basic understanding of English grammar, or more specifically the use of the apostrophe. Today's abominations included St Valentines (Valentine's) Day and My Cards (Card's) Bigger Than Yours. Yes, I know this may come over to many as extreme pedantry but in my humble opinion this is amateurish and an embarrassment. Rant over.
  4. Can I also add to that list the number of times that Mr S Dickson has used everything that he believes is wonderful at Motherwell as a mallet to bash anything and everything about St Mirren.
  5. Frank McGarvey went from St Mirren to Celtic via Liverpool - he never played a first team game for the scousers.
  6. I see Thommo is out again for a few weeks because of surgery to "a long-standing hernia problem". Am I the only person puzzled as to why this surgery didn't take place during Thommo's lengthy spell of injury earlier this season ? Surely that would have been the ideal time to treat both problems ? Maybe I'm missing something (not unusual).
  7. If Terry Butcher is interested in becoming our manager and he is prepared to accept mince for wages then get him in immediately.
  8. I hope SG sticks a few £ million on the successful candidate before the bookies get a sniff.
  9. Not the characcter obviously, the actor (aged 59). http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/entertainment-arts-30392859 His maw Morticia was a pure darling.
  10. Kemp, I think you have just proved my point by naming those clubs. Dunfermline ended up in administration due to over-spending, Stewart Milne got tired of chucking away £ millions, Jamie Moffat wrote off £ millions of Killie debt owed to his family and Roy McGregor is a multi-millionnaire sugar daddy. On a level playing field Calderwood is unproven (at best).
  11. Calderwood's successes were at clubs where he was given unsustainable amounts of money to spend. Any mug can outperform other managers of similar sized clubs if they have a soft-touch for a chairman. Given a level playing field Calderwood would have been no more successful than the rest. Also he is a buffoon and a joke figure with a perma-tan.
  12. Our next long-term manager must be someone with a strong personality, someone imposing that the players will listen to. The worst appointment we could have would be some lovely guy with all the right coaching badges and the roar of a squirrel. For instance big Starky is a nice bloke with the appropriate coaching credentials but I can't envisage him as the motivational type. We have many good players in the squad and maybe all those guys need is a good kick up the backside. But we also have more than our share of dead wood, guys that give their best whenever they are selected but they will never be good enough for St Mirren. Last summer's signings, especially Caldwell and Ball, have offered little and the longer we persevere with guys like them the quicker we will secure our relegation. Bring in someone ruthless to put them (and us) out of our misery.
  13. Well that's one new sketch guaranteed for Jonathan Watson on Hogmanay.
  14. Has there ever before been an individual so far out of his depth than Tommy Craig was ? Like a little boy lost in the big city.
  15. It's unbelievable. Pixie Lott gets voted off Strictly this weekend but wee useless Craig is still our manager. Just unbelievable.
  16. Being a STH hasn't prevented me from staying away from recent home games. Craig is the worst St Mirren coach in my lifetime. If he isn't bagged before Monday I will have lost what little remaining faith I had in this BoD. I thought seriously about quitting my season ticket the last two seasons but both times I went ahead and renewed it anyway. I won't make that mistake a third time.
  17. When will the BoD 'consortium' acknowledge to themselves that no one "suitable" is prepared to cough up for their poisoned chalice of a 52% shareholding ? Maybe the time has come for them to take up SMiSA's offer of cash for new shares and then the club could afford to sack TC without dipping into the BoD's own pockets again. The longer they shilly-shally with TC still in charge the more revenues from home game attendances will plummet and ultimately cost more than bulleting TC immediately.
