In the preview, he's quoted as saying that he was 10,000 words short of completing his 85,000 word latest (as yet unpublished) novel when he got the news......it's about a man diagnosed with cancer. His sci-fi stuff was great, too.

Sandyford was the one between St Mirin's and the Abercorn right enough. IIRC it was a similar building to the Abercorn. St Mirin's was a boy's only school until the amalgamation with St Maggie's in 1976-77. I left in the summer of '76..... :-(

Well it didn't take long to read, I'd assimilated it before I knew what was happening! As I said, didn't want to start a fight over it, I didn't get the humour in it and was genuinely puzzled as to the motivation behind the post, no offence was intended.

I don't get this - if it bores you, don't read it, other people enjoy it and they're doing no-one any harm. Not saying you don't have the right or any of that stuff, and not trying to start a fight, but the thread's interesting (for some) so I'm not sure what you think you're adding?
