  1. Bring back Fergie for a season long loan from Man Utd. I would wager there would be a huge improvement in effort and performance. I can dream can't I?
  2. Kenny's name keeps popping up now and again. Apart from never managing any football club in the past, exactly why would he be an ideal candidate? By the way, we don't need a 'prospect' we need someone with managerial experience to get us out of bother.
  3. I am sure that certain players must read the posts on this forum so they will be aware of this thread. I wonder how beneficial it would be to dispel this accusation/general view point by certain players coming out and making a statement to the contrary. If, they are behind the manager then come out publicly and state this so that we can all get on with supporting the team and manager through this terrible period.
  4. If there is any evidence that certain players have 'chucked it' then they should be shown the door irrespective of who is the manager. If I decided not to do my job how long do you think I would have before being shown the door? Player power is one thing but to actually think that some could down tools so to speak and leave the manager out to dry while picking up a healthy pay packet is nothing short of scandalous. I do not care who the player or players are, they are not welcome at the club unless they do their job to the best of their ability and earn their wages. After all, we are the ones paying for them.
  5. I know but he does get on my thrupennies with his permanent Victor Meldrew syndrome
  6. Wish you were on the feckin moon. Honestly, change the record mate as you would have a Samaritan calling the Samaritans. If you have nothing positive to say (and you never do) then just say nothing at all. Call yourself a supporter? There is something called humble pie, if we win tomorrow will you come on here and accept a piece of it?
  7. I am not sure Derek Adams is a good example at this point as other than humping us his team this season is every bit as bad as ours. I wonder if he is under pressure? Admittedly he did a fine job last season but then so did Danny with leading us to winning a trophy. For me, it has to be league record and winning 2 games this calendar year is what he should be judged on. Like Alex Smith, Danny had the chance to use a cup win as a springboard to greater things but failed to do this for whatever reason(s). The failure to address the quality that left us this season and the shortage of players at certain positions will impact on us until we can perhaps address some of it at the next transfer window. There is nothing more that can be done other than trying to get the best 11 out of the park and them playing to their potential, get a few wins under the belt and let confidence do the rest - for both players and manager.
  8. FFS clearly there is no legitimate news or discussion points today.
  9. Thing is Div, the performance before the cup win was no better in all honesty. The cup did paper over cracks and while it was super to win the cup it only masked our terrible league record. As you say, something is wrong at the club and the Directors need to sort it out before people begin to vote with their feet. Danny, as much as I like the guy, talked like a defeated man on Saturday and spouted the usual positive stuff. The least I expect from a team is hard work, dedication and commitment. If players cannot deliver those as a 'gimme' then I do not want to see them at my club. There is only so many times you can come out with the same statements but in the end it is about seeing progression and this season has seen us take a huge step back. Whatever the reasons, and there must be something going on, the club need to resolve it before it gets to a point similar to when the team had that horrendous run under Gus. Hearts will show fight and AJ at Killie will find his feet at some point. This season looks like a long hard slog and miles away from when Danny had us playing the short passing and effective game 2 seasons ago.
  10. Thing is, I used to go along (a long time ago) with confidence that we would beat certain teams on our own ground. I no longer have that and at times would happily settle for a point at half-time as we were playing so poorly.
  11. You put a lot of valid points forward Pozbaird. Noone would be more happier than me to see the team emulate what Murderwell and other small provincial clubs have done. However, the bottom line here is that those clubs like Motherwell, Dundee Utd and Aberdeen are where they are by racking up more debt than our club are prepared to deal with. Looking at those clubs who have imploded and the reasons why, do we go down that route of increasing the debt to compete with the wages that other club pay and outbid us on? The game is rooked mate and bringing through youth is the way ahead. Unfortunately, we are unlikely to hold onto any real promising player due to what others can pay in wages. However, what I do feel is that the right manager can bring more to the club and Butcher is a great example of being able to spot players and bring them to the club for little money and/or wages. There is no doubt that the likely scenario at St Mirren is the BOD cutting cloth to suit to reduce or maintain small levels of debt and live within our means allied to a manager, nice guy that he is, who appears to lack the direction and ability to deal as effectively as other managers do to bring in good enough players to provide the balance and quality within the team.
  12. The transfer window is shut, protest do not give us point in the league and the BOD are the guys who will decide what is best for the club. Running a small club is costly and no doubt the cup money did not disappear and will have been used to keep the players in wages and the club running efficiently. A look at the accounts in due course should explain what happend. The manager generally takes the hit and it will only be a matter of time before Danny leaves (resigns or by mutual consent). A new manager will guarantee nothing and every manager is a gamble. The players need to take a long hard look at themselves and ask if they are pulling together 100% or not? The BOD rightfully are the custodians of the club and are not beyond reproach. If the strategy (whatever that is) for taking the club forward is not working then they are duty bound to fix it - whatever needs fixing. Leave petitions and protests for those clubs who feel they have a divine right to success and accept that our club has and always will be a yo-you club and our time in the top league will be limited and we are likely to be relegated at some point in the future - be it this season or 10 years time. Instead, continue to support the club as players, manager and directors will go one day but our club moves on with new personnel. Keep the faith.
  13. Eh, a lot better than where we were fighting relegation to the second division mate. It is a tough time being a Saints fan but we need to get some things into perspective. We have had a horrendous start and things can only get better. You really need to see where we have come from in a short period of time to get some perspective. I have seen many poorer Saints sides performing in front of fewer fans and against the likes of East Stirling, Montrose and Forfar - and getting pumped big time too.
  14. Why? If you are going to cast personal slights in my direction then grow a pair and explain or are you one of those aliases who hide behind the keyboard? You sir need to understand the difference between a question and a statement.
  15. That would be Auchinleck Talbot. Junior does provide good value for the price but not always the best fare. Personally, football has priced itself out of the market for many and I cannot understand why a game costs £20 plus while other entertainment remains fairly low like cinema . There is a reason why attendances across the UK are falling and that is simply the cost of supporting your team and particularly if you have kids who want to go along plus the amount of live football deters even fans of clubs who can save £40 ticket price, petrol, parking and eats while watching it at home in warmth and comfort. Not agreeing this is right as being there is always better (outwith baltic conditions) but Sky and BT Sports have made it easier to make that choice. The game has changed and money talks but for how long?
  16. Totally agree and my question is what do we do with those who accused him? I am no legal expert but surely lying under oath and trying to destroy this man's credibility and career should now be considered by the court? Freddy Starr I believe is taking out a private prosecution against those who accused him and who subsequently failed when the court found him not guilty of all charges.
  17. Eh...is this Motherwell team the same one I am thinking about that has lost 2 games this season - one less than us? I know they have won 3 games but they are not Barcelona FFS and beatable. If we play to our ability then I see no reason that we cannot beat them. Take McFadyen out of the picture and who else do you fear? Sutton?
  18. I like Tony, he had some major set backs in life, was a superb footballer and overall a really nice guy. If he is guilty of anything then it is being ever positive about the club and that was what he was trying to get across last night when he mentioned that only 4 games have been played and that 'he' is convinced that Danny can turn it around. He praised the players work ethic and all the hard work going on behind the scenes. You cannot fault someone who is an optimist and Tony is the kind of man who while falling down from a 20 storey building say after each floor "well so far so good". Love the guy and he is entitled to his opinion even if it goes against the views of others.
  19. Lex, I never understood this whole "I won't be back until the manager goes" or "I won't be back until we start winning" etc etc. I always believe that you support a football club and while managers and players go - no matter how good or bad they are - the club remain, its history and all the memories (good and bad). I understand that in the 21st century people can choose how to spend their money and withold it if they are unhappy. However, surely being a supporter means you pay to watch your team and keep the club afloat? Anyone refusing to go because of the manager in charge is surely hurting the club they profess to love by witholding much needed cash?
  20. Chick Young mentioned this last night when he said that Danny had the entire summer to bring in strikers and he didn't. Cannot argue with that.
  21. Sadly if the team continues to struggle and gate numbers fall then it will be first and foremost about revenue and can the club continue with falling revenue? Most managers tend to go when people vote with their feet - and I am not stating fans should do this - and the board react. Everyone at the club need to push in the same direction, players, manager and board, with the players playing out of their skins for the manager. Danny has to do his own homework on the opposition (like others do with us) and get the tactics right plus work out how to get the best out of each player. I would start by playing them in their most natural position for a start. I said I would give it to the end of the first quarter and then see where we are. I still stand by that and if we are still performing poorly then things will have to change. I heard one of the comments on Radio Scotland last night that the team who are relegated are going to struggle to get back up with Rangers almost certainties to win the league next season. The best would then be a runners-up spot. So we cannot afford to take the drop this season. Btw, I think Killie and Hibs will struggle big time this season.
  22. Historical figures also showed that we were unlikely to win the league cup but lo and behold we bloody well went on and did this. 4 games into the season and almost 4 months until Christmas and you are worried we will not have many wins. A lot can happen in 4 months with or without the current manager and all teams have a purple patch at some time - even us now and again. If the historical statistics come to the fore then it is unlikely that things will continue as they are - management wise. I have faith that we will turn things around once the new guys are bedded in and fitness levels improve.
  23. What happened to all your predictions and being in the know?
