  1. One thing not in any doubt is that we definitely need to rebuild. A strong experienced spine to the team would certainly help. If Goodwin and Thommo can work together I would have them as the first two to keep. A centre half or midfielder of similar experience with the up and coming youngsters around them would be the way to go for me. I think that GT has been on a hiding to nothing with the situation he inherited and whilst some may see him as culpable for part of the mess but Kenny McLean leaving in the fashion he did was the icing on the cake. Despite some initial progress McLean leaving was a disaster and severely hampered him. Does he deserve a crack at the Championship...depends on the day to day mood in the dressing room. Unless it is fantastic and we've just been unlucky I'd like to think the board would thank him for his efforts and quickly get the right man for the envisaged job (assuming there is a plan both business and playing) in place asap. Being honest I failed to see the rationale for DL leaving but I know there were a fair few who wanted a change. Talk of pushing on for the top six seems very much like egg on plenty faces now. Time to look forward revamp the plans for the next few seasons...scraping survival will not be enough in the Championship. The manager for next season needs to have the full backing of everyone and I would like the board to come out and explain a three to five year plan to take us forward - even if GT still in charge. I know the BoD want away, but we are sorely lacking direction despite being in the most secure position we've been in for 20-30 years.
  2. I agree with OP. Will be good getting 4 games against the 'ton. Like them or lump them, they will be an exciting few games. Kilmarnock as a derby? Fair play to them and all that, but I'm completely indifferent about Killie. Morton...would be great to have them in the top flight with us. Sadly we're mince and this is the only positive I see from relegation. Well done Morton on promotion. Now it's time for us to rebuild and develop a plan to take us forward again.
  3. Keep the updates coming, although given the performance enjoy as best you can!
  4. Working today. We playing 4-5-1? ETA: 1-0, who cares what formation we're playing!
  5. I didn't watch the game but was told Zaluska should have been sent off in addition to Craig Gordon for preventing a goal scoring opportunity later on in the game. If this is true will he also be banned?
  6. I hope we keep him/he wants to stay, but surely his choice is continue at saints one or a couple of seasons to end playing career or retire (at end of this season)?
  7. Fair enough. Just a question. I just don't see the necessity of the pub bit...
  8. Do the human pieces about politicians specifically 'down the pub' such as Nick Clegg on BBC news tonight annoy others?
  9. Tony Fitz is some man. Open revolt against chairman, talking up our club and town. Video puts into perspective how far we've come despite how hard things are right now...hardly registers as a comparison...
  10. On a slightly different note, there was a piece on Radio Scotland at lunchtime today about the importance of elite sport to the nation as a whole. Whilst I didn't hear all of it there was a few interesting comments about bringing people together in a group standing together. There was specific mention of Scotland at Hampden, but it got me thinking albeit briefly about how much Saints mean to me. Like others I dip in and out of games with work commitments but see Saints as part of my identity. It's rubbish to struggle as we have done this season but it is definitely not time to throw in the towel. The results this season do not hide the fact that we have been the weakest team thus far, but we have to remain behind our team no matter what. It is easy to point fingers at others, but changes have been made and survival is still in our own hands. All I want is for the team as a whole to give 100% effort and if we go down fighting I'll be disappointed but I'll be pretty scunnered if grafting together is lacking.
  11. Scunnered with result. Was working and only heard bits and pieces on radio. More gutted to hear and read we had better chances and still lost regardless of performance. Always feel we are just a wee bit away from being a great team, but perhaps that's the eternal optimist in me. All that we can do is get behind the team and hope for the best. Still in our own hands with games remaining. ETA: Sadly that wee bit lacking means the results aren't lying and we have got to start winning games on the trot or we will finish bottom.
  12. A wee bit deflated by results today, but in all honesty we need to concentrate on own performances... Thistle being drawn back into things but we need to keep picking up points. 5 wins in a row would be unbelievable!
  13. In all seriousness though, the football fan experience has changed in the 28ish years that I've been a fan. Whilst Saints by and large remain mediocre with occasional brilliance, football in general has gone from being a male orientated spectator sport to much more of a family event. Industrial language is part and parcel of everyday life, but the facts are to encourage new fans and youngsters into following our club this behaviour has had to change. The family stand has generally exemplary behaviour in this regard. I am not offended by others swearing but if I had taken kids to watch a game I would feel very differently.
  14. Not to detract from the lively debate but thought that this may add to the mix
  15. Perhaps black and white specs on but we were miles better than Accies. I agree we could have been better but we were the better team by a long way and had the game to lose most of the match.
  16. Think he tweeked left hamstring right at end of first half.
  17. Sadlier in particular looks a great player in the making. Fantastic move for the goal started with him on the left. Dragging players out of position and laying it on for Dayton. Dayton encouraging the West Bank great to see also. Thommo immense and took goal well. McGinn getting back to his best. Gow linked the play up a bit better second half. Genev looked like the no nonsense big centre half everyone has been wanting for years. Kept I simple and only one minor mistake. Back four otherwise played really well. Kelly for recent criticism had a solid second half at the back. Wylde battled well with Naismith particularly at the end with the ball in the corner for 2-3 mins running down the clock. Effort is all you need to give to keep everyone happy! Sonupe looked good in 4-5 mins on the park. Another few performances like that and confidence will return...need to take care of our own business and that is how to do it!
  18. Livened up with Dayton and their 18 getting booked for handbags which I missed and someone will need to explain later. There is a goal coming...
  19. Pulled hamstring at end of half. Tess into centre with goody and Kelly left back...
  20. Also freezing and not stopped raining all match...if another ref was in charge game would be in threat of abandonment...
