  1. According to Wikipedia (so it nust be right) Scandinavia comprises Norway Sweden and Denmark, this is often confused by the Scandinavian Peninsula which comprises only of Norway and Sweden.
  2. Ha ha, no. I am sure that you will be aware of the dangers posed to opposition defences by the knock down and bang attacking style they very effectively used in the 1999-2000 season. As far as the pies go, I think Yardley has that tied up long term.
  3. 4-5-1 won't work this year if we are playing Thommo up front based on what I saw against Morton and Newcastle. As I said on another thread I'd like to see Reilly and Thommo playing together similar to Yardley and Lavety.
  4. Indeed, but it ran for almost two decades ie. 1986 to early 2000's. By the end of that period we had few if any Scottish stars for youngsters to want to be when they were playing three and in in the park. If you don't have that then psychologically I expect it to be difficult for young Scot's to think they can make it in the game. When I was a boy we were all Kenny Dalglish scoring the winner at Wembley. Name me a Scot that a twelve year old can see playing now that would have that impact. At the end of the foreign journeymen period, there has definitely been a lack of quality in Scottish players. When was the last time Scotland got to the finals of a major tournament? Who were the stars of the team? France 98, probably John Collins. He is probably the last great Scottish player and he hung his boots up a lifetime ago as far as kids are concerned.
  5. As I said previously, it was other teams trying to keep up with Rangers signing foreign internationalists that really took away the grass roots of Scottish football. Why else would we have been signing ex Barcelona stars?
  6. Perhaps by not trying to hang on to the coat tails of the OF and concentrating on creating a bed of talent from the youth ranks instead of buying useless foreign journeymen we would be in a position to take advantage of said OF current lack of domination. I say that for all Scottish teams outside OF and not just Saints.
  7. I'd like to see Reilly used more like a Lavety to Thommo's Yardley. Thommo looks to be a bit slow for leading the line on his own. I'd have Harkins playing in the space behind them with a three man midfield behind him. To be fair, all the youngsters that came on looked good and gave the team a bit of a spark.
  8. Dummet played a blinder last night but I think he is still a wee bit away from being a premiership regular. I think his decision making when going forward is questionable, but then as a full back with decent midfield and forwards in front of him maybe that won't matter so much.
  9. I take it the "investment" being driven into our clubs will be when they are playing against or are a team from South Govan or East Bridgeton. You couldn't make it up
  10. Hibs were a team punching above their weight to get into Europe by losing a cup final. Let's not forget that Hibs were a one man team last year and he has left this year. As far as getting over a 7-0 humping, it has happened to most teams other than OF and usually OF handing them out. You stand up, brush yourself down and get stuck in to the next game. Also your first paragraph seems to be comparing friendly results, ours are pants, wet ones at that.
  11. To answer the OP, we'll find out on 21st September.
  12. We could make up a song to sing at televised games
  13. Maybe it was past it's sell by date. Can be an awful thing turned beer!
  14. Don't forget there is a play off this year for second bottom!
  15. I imagine there will be a further increase to circa £4.00 if they get the gig. Still great value?
  16. Let's hope it doesn't have the same effect on the catering as a certain other national companies involvement had with merchandise in the club shop
  17. Budweiser, Vambo was not saying Palestine and Israel were not part of a race. What he/she was saying was that they are not in themselves a race hence comments made against them were not necessarily racist.
  18. I'm no expert, but I suspect there are already laws in place which could be used to combat racists and bigots. MacAskill's new law was just a knee jerk reaction to the existing laws not being put into force by the authorities. Unfortunately, the authorities turn a blind eye to the actions of those that the law was actually put into place to stop. On another point, there are a couple of political adverts at NSMP so there is already a precedent at the club to allow political comment.
