  1. In fairness, some folk still can't quite believe it... I wouldn't so hastily rule out Stoke, by the way. They're still 60% hammer thrower, but are vastly different to when Pulis was in charge and Rory Delap was pinging those feckin throw-ins around.
  2. It'll be interesting to watch his career Ark.
  3. More navel-gazing on here than an afternoon spent discussing ethics at the BBC. The beauty of football and league tables is that teams tend to end up exactly where they deserve to be. Of course, that can be distorted occasionally, and sometimes for many years, by financial deviancy (Rangers, Hearts, Motherwell, Livingston, Gretna, etc) but over the piece, teams are positioned pretty much correctly.
  4. Have I missed something with the play-offs? I thought it was 11th vs 2nd, but this seems to think differently... http://spfl.co.uk/play-offs/ So 11th could end up playing 4th (currently QotS)? I had no idea that was the case. Mainly because I've spent all season believing (until now) it wouldn't affect us.
  5. Isn't it more that DL saw him and thought he would make a decent replacement for Gowser? Only then Gowser stayed and proceeded to be not quite the player we all know he can be.
  6. What gets me is that hard bastard, no-nonsense centre halves should be ten-a-penny. I don't know why we can't find one. Same goes for a half decent defensive mid. Setting the 'baldy' connection aside, we managed to stretch to the likes of Scott Walker, Gus McP and Will Haining while in the first division. Any of them, in their prime, would slot into our squad quite happily now.
  7. TBH, I've never inferred that a handful only meant five. Either way, you knew what I meant.
  8. We went 3-0 up at Hibs and even managed to turn that into squeaky bum time. Yeah, we hung on, but we love to make life difficult for ourselves. We've had a squad that's looked ok on paper for three seasons now but, one good cup run aside, have won no more than a handful of games. Time's up, I'm afraid.
  9. I'd rather Hibs lost. Much better chance of finishing 7th for us.
  10. I stand by the idea that if Jim Goodwin just dyed his hair darker, these clueless f**ks - by which I mean both referees and opposing fans - wouldn't know who he was and he'd get away with much more.
  11. Aye, fair enough. I was well pished when I wrote that. Phones should have breathalysers.
  12. DG, I agree with virtually everything you post on here, but the idea that it's the fans' money is wide of the mark. Without wishing to go all Tedious Tom, as a fan of St Mirren, one chooses to take part in a commercial transaction in exchange for 90 minutes' worth of 'entertainment'. At no point is it implied that the money you give as part of this deal remains yours, to be redistributed/invested on your behalf.
  13. Quite. I don't think I'd want Isma in charge either. Aw, f**k it, what am I saying?! Get yerself over here, big man.
  14. I'd argue he could easily have been sent off against Aberdeen, too - it's not beyond the realms of possibility that he could have been booked for the penalty incident, a late lunge in an important position. He won't be at the World Cup.
  15. Lennon - Gus - Coughlin - Hendrie - Tony Fitz - (Munro) - Bone - Hay - Tony Fitz - Smith - Miller... and so on. That spread of managers covers just over 30 years. I have emboldened the ones whose reign I would broadly class as 'successful'. The only one who arguably had any managerial pedigree was Davie Hay, and look how well that went. The c**t. We have historically never had a policy of bringing in so-called big name managers - and maybe there have been spells where we have suffered as a result - but really, are we about to bring in a former Scotland manager? It's really, really unlikely. Far more likely that we'll do the same that we have done for most of my lifetime and pluck a promising lower-league manager and try our luck, or promote from within. Shiiiit, I mean, we thought Goodwin was unpopular as a player, wait til he's prowling in our technical area
  16. Thanks for the freeze-frame; I posted a few pages back, just after the full-time whistle, how laughably offside he was. It wasn't even one of those where you needed a screen grab, in fairness - he was fecking miles clear, and the gap looked even bigger at full speed. Ok, they f**ked it up and didn't score, and it is therefore a moot point, but as you say, that sort of stuff can't go for one side and not for another (I'd say the gap is about the same as the one for McGregor's disallowed goal.) Yes, both miles offside, but only one decision was given correctly.
  17. Rooney was about three yards offside when put through towards the end there. Ah well, load of shite. Thing is, I actually thought the line up was decent today. Exactly what I'd have picked. I just can't see why we're so shite.
  18. Shouting is all it takes. Like the way centre halves are only good if they're 6'5". Terrible game. McGinn is f**king brilliant, but Wylde is isolated and Gowser is off form and Thommo looks knackered. I'd go 4-4-2 and bring on Campbell for Gowser. Push McLean wide right, or wide left and bring on Teale for Wylde.
