  1. More like Geordie Unsure. NUFC would strongly prefer a Championship club for Adam Campbell. I hope I'm wrong.
  2. I'm coming up from the Toon for this. Not every day you get to see Saints play against the likes of Ben Arfa and Cabaye. Honestly, Cabaye's a magician. I'm dreading it and excited at the same time.
  3. Nailed it in one. As ever, imperative that Thommo gets support from the two wide players and Gowser. There's the option to drop Gowser deeper and remove mcginn or richardson, and bring on another striker, too.
  4. That can't be right. Moles are famous for blindly scrabbling around in the dark. What? Oh...
  5. I doubt it. The odds of us being given as easy an entry back into the league as Sevco were are very long indeed.
  6. Paul McIntyre was always pretty good on Sensible World of Soccer. Weirdly, so was Jim Dick.
  7. Bad news on the Adam Campbell front - Newcastle Evening Chronicle reporting today that despite interest from us and Motherwell, he's likely to be heading to a Championship side. http://www.chroniclelive.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/adam-campbell-set-loan-move-5317479#.UfDzd5JOtdw.twitter Newcastle United manager Alan Pardew is expected to loan Geordie boy Adam Campbell to a Championship side. United still retain high hopes for the England youth international but feel that his development has reached the stage where he must be playing week in, week out – something that can’t be guaranteed with the Magpies this season. Pardew has noted the development of left-back Paul Dummett after spending last term on loan at St Mirren. And he has wasted no time in letting Shane Ferguson go on another loan stint with Birmingham City for the season. Now, he is intending to send the 18-year-old to English football’s second tier to brush up his skill and build confidence on the first-team stage. Pardew told the Chronicle: “I think Adam’s at the point where, depending on our business, a loan is an option for him. “We’re trying to bring in a striker, if not two. “For the moment, Adam will hang around.” But it is thought that he won’t be around for too much longer. Indeed, United are still chasing Bafetimbi Gomis of Lyon while Loic Remy is also under consideration. Pardew said: “Once I think our criteria have been filled, a loan would be brilliant for him. “He needs to play professional football. I’m considering that at the moment.” Campbell has made just a handful of appearances for Newcastle in the last 12 months. The Championship is thought to be the preferred destination of Campbell, but SPL sides St Mirren and Motherwell have expressed an interest. And Stuart McCall was full of praise for Campbell after United’s 4-2 win at Fir Park earlier this month.
  8. According to DL, we lacked hunger in the first half last night. Bring back Big Yards. Feckin hungry all the time, he was.
  9. Panini? Got, got, got, neeeed! Need that one! Swap ya my foil West Ham badge for Campbell Money! By the way, have you seen the new Panini sticker albums? Load of shite. No footballers - just a lot of posh sandwiches.
  10. Just can't see it. I think Danny will get one more tilt at it. Danny fits the SMFC model of not complaining too much because he's being given no cash to spend.
  11. We don't play with two strikers. We even mainly played Isma out of position last season. But I agree, we do need backup.
  12. IIRC we played 3-5-2 against Celtic once. Gravesen scored a hat-trick. Happy to see us experiment with it again as long as it's consigned to the bin when it doesn't work.
  13. We need to genetically mutate Danny Lennon and Gus McPherson together. That would be one hell of a football manager. Edit: unless we ended up with a manager with no clue how to defend or attack.
  14. If they did a song called 'Sit Tight' I'm going home...
  15. This. He's much less of a left-back than Carey is, which says it all, really. I can't see the logic in these three arriving, especially not Ferguson, as much as he'd be dynamite in the SPL. Newton - great, he knows the club, and I think we could make room for him (and would help keep Goodwin in defence). Campbell, great, we need another striker. Ferguson, though, is an out-and-out winger. Small, nippy, decent delivery. Having apparently pushed the boat out to get Harkins, would we instantly usurp him with a younger, better player who isn't ours to keep? And when we don't actually play with proper wingers? Having said that, I'd still love it if he signed! Edit - he's at BCFC for a medical today. I knew it didn't make sense
  16. Interesting. Campbell the striker, I assume. Any other names?
  17. I hope he doesn't get to Gretna and follow that other infamous left back, back down south again. What I'm saying is, Aswad: Don't Turn Around.
  18. Remember that day we signed Adam and Sutton? The D1 title was as good as ours from that point. Of course, transfer deadline day is a touch too late to add 500 season ticket holders
  19. I can genuinely see your point - I think we're arguing two sides of the same coin. I'm not saying it's ALL f**kING BRILLIANT, more that I'm a cheerful guy and I'm looking on the bright side. I'm not falling for a smokescreen at all - I was simply making the point that ordinarily a club like ours won't often get the chance to bring youngsters through - instead relying on loan deals for more talented youngsters from bigger teams, or scouring the market for old stagers, which sometimes works (Gary Teale, Thommo, Andy Millen, Tommy Turner) and sometimes doesn't (most of our other signings). Assuming we do play the kids, the best case scenario is that we end up with a young, dynamic team by the end of next year, have them all on contracts til the summer of 2016 and that we start looking like a consistent The worst case scenario is that we have a wafer-thin squad that relies heavily on inexperienced players, and we lose the 15-point advantage over Hearts and go down. The truth will be somewhere between the two cos, as we all know, more signings will come in.
