Howard Hughes in BlueSuedeShoes
Are you sure about this Hey, I’m only going by what Geddy said before the play it on the Different Stages album. That's why there were quotation marks. Are you sure about this...do you know that Neil Peart is an ardent fan of Margaret Thatcher. So’s Captain Sensible but is that any reason to dislike him? ST SID
So’s Captain Sensible but is that any reason to dislike him? Amongst many - he's also a golfer. Almost of the lyrics of RUSH are born of the same stuff of Th@tcherism. They are a disgrace to rock music and its socialist roots.

Bud the Baker
Amongst many - he's also a golfer. Almost of the lyrics of RUSH are born of the same stuff of Th@tcherism. They are a disgrace to rock music and its socialist roots. Actually they are influenced by Ayn Rand (whose novel Anthem inspired the tracks - Anthem & 2112) purveyor of dodgy SF and mainthinker of "Objectivism", a branch of philosophy which lauded the individual and his (she was no femenist) right to pursue happiness. Saying Thatcher used some of Rand's ideas would be closer to the heart mark. Edited April 5, 2006 by Bud the Baker

Plus the fact Rush were releasing stuff well before Thatcher came to power so if they’re influenced by her yet Thatcherism didn’t start until at least half a decade later then that’s a pretty neat trick. Top man BtB, good to see somebud that knows their stuff, unlike HHiBSS who just liked the iron-on RUSH badge for his denim jacket. I did in fact say: "Almost of the lyrics of RUSH are born of the same stuff of Th@tcherism." - born of the same stuff. Thatcher was also an Objectivist - the lyrics to Free Will was of course a pre-logue to Thatchers destruction of mining and attempted destruction of unionism. RUSH are a disgrace and it beggars belief that anyone in Scotland outside Milngavie and Morningside would even consider listening to them. I was hoping someone would be daft enough to jump in with nonsense about Thatcher being after RUSH.

Bud the Baker
Alan Greenspan who was Ronald Raygun's Chairman of the Federal Reserve (The U.S. Equivalent to Chancellor of The Exchequer) was an early adherent of Ayn Rand's philosophy. ST SID
cat stevens live in concert from 1973 on bbc 4 Bugger, never saw it in the TV Guide 'til later......don't suppose you recorded it??? HHiBSS....they are as right wing as you'll get, the musical equivalent of Dick Cheney and that is what all of there music is based upon. Their lyrics are a reaction to the socialist politcal movement in Canada at the time....RUSH are utter scumbags that want to eradicate unions and all forms of welfare. As po-faced as you are you know f"k aw about music as BtB has skillfully proven.
