Stuart Dickson
Never mind your fantasy £50k per year - let's deal with the reality. There are plenty of families living on £13k per year where both parents are working part time - because it's all they can get. Ignoring tax and national insurance contributions, £13k per year is £1083 per month. Your total so far comes to £1180 per month so straight away they are £100 a month short before they've bought any food. You also haven't included savings or pension contributions thereby condemning them to an entire life of poverty! You also haven't explained how they pay when things like washing machines break down. You assume they can take public transport to work which may not be possible. If it's not possible they'll need a car. You'd need to add an amount for tax, MOT's servicing and breakdown cover and also an amount for unplanned breakdowns. Finally you'd haven't explained how they'd buy clothes for their kids as they were growing up. Where would the money for that come from? In short, you really haven't thought through how bad life can be for many people. Either that or you genuinely don't care. I reckon you'd need a minimum of around £21k from all income sources to have a reasonable life with a family of four. At the moment there are over a million people living on substantially less than that. The current reality is that life isn't so grim for our mythical family. That family would get a myriad of benefits thrown at them from our welfare state. I've ran through the calculator for these kind of things - £33.70 per week child benefit, that's £1752 per annum, plus a further £2,200 per annum in child tax credit. They get even more if they can sort out their hours so they can get working tax credit. So you're £13,000 has suddenly become just short of £17,000 before we start looking at the council tax credits, housing benefits and free school dinners, free milk vouchers, clothing vouchers for school uniforms etc, etc. Take those into account and suddenly this couple have exceeded your £21k per annum minimum requirement for living. That's the reality today your million people where a generous welfare state keeps them out of work.
FTOF
The REAL problem is... ...that a series of you are keeping him content by responding to his mince. THAT... is where you are all going wrong. You never learn. How many threads is he currently running? Threads which have degenerated basically into the same subject? Him. He loves the attention. To be fair you can't really imagine anybody in the real world listening to his made up drivel, without collapsing into paroxysms of laughter. Without us he wouldn't get any attention, ever. We should be rewarded for our services to "care in the community". Edited November 23, 2013 by FTOF

Free school meals don't apply when you get working tax credit. No housing benefit either, no milk vouchers or clothing vouchers. You are just making this shit up now. Thanks for proving that the tax credits are keeping this family afloat. Without them, around a million families would go down the pan. If you want to ease the burden on the welfare state you simply ensure working people are paid a living wage by their employers. And to think there are scum bags out there whow would remove the credits and remove the child benefit as well. What kind of person would happily place a million families on the street with no obvious gain other than an internet troll? I've proved that by scrapping the NHS, state education and the welfare state this family would be better off with the UK Resident UK citizen Dividend. They would be achieving £28k per annum, more than your minimum requirement, Before any earnings are taken into account. What kind of person would deny them of all this if not an Internet troll
salmonbuddie
"Asserted" is the word your looking for, StuD, not "proved." You've proven f**k all.

Stuart Dickson
I see you're back on Planet Moonbeam again. You've proven nothing - your plan will bankrupt the nation overnight. Rubbish - far from it. It would put the UK back in the black. Think about it. With no state education, no hospitals, and no need for all the government offices that go with them all that property could be immediately sold off and you'll have created a ready made market to sell to with private health and education suppliers bidding against each other for space to accommodate their new customers. Just think, all of those expensive and wasteful PFI contracts that Labour got us into binned at a stroke and £hundreds of billions of cash coming into the UK coffers reducing our interest payments whilst the money that had been wasted on state education, healthcare and welfare would be distributed to each qualifying UK resident UK citizen ending poverty at a stroke. Only a troll would disagree with it.
