Doing the rounds on facebook.  The biggest genocide in human history was not committed by tNazi Germany but on American soil. 100 million native Americans were slaughtered and lost their homeland most of the slaughtering was committed by Christians. Knew a wee bit about that history but had no idea about these numbers.

I really dont know enough about it to make any comment on the numbers, but i do believe many of them died through viruses brought by the settlers which they had no immunity to. In much the same way as many Amazonian tribes did.

Also as FS said, if it on FB ......

ETA : Just checked wiki , that ever reliable Font of all absolutely correct Knowledge, they put the number on indigenous people at 7-18 million  . Maybe , as many of them believed in re-incarnation , some of them were killed several times ?

Estimates vary and include up to 100m for the whole of America, North, Central and South. 90% is believed to be the mortality rate due to the combination of disease and deliberate killing - including handing out blankets knowing they were infected with smallpox. The Black Death in Europe is estimated as 33%.

How did the British manage to hand out smallpox infected blankets without catching smallpox themselves?

Was it the first ever recorded incident of the 5 second rule or were they wearing full biological suits? If the latter then you would have thought the natives would have suspected something when handed a blankie by a guy in a white onesy with a massive mask and oxygen tank on his back. :D
