stlucifer
Another nanny state interference. And it will never work. There was a 40 something woman actually interviewed saying, and I kid you not, "I wish the ban was in place when I was 11!. BIG NEWS HEN. IT WAS! You were smoking illegally. The only way this can work medium to long term is the introduction of identity cards to show you're 25, not 24, or 35, not 34. I stopped smoking almost 30 years ago but, if the government are allowing sale of tobacco to one adult, it should be the same for all adults. Yes. Use education as a weapon against it but not this. It's bad enough that the overbearing Scottish Parliament is trying to stop all those but the well off to have a drink without interfering even more with people's rights. PS the highlighted caused me and Mrs faraway to look at each other in disbelief, followed by howls of laughter. faraway saint
LEZ zones are having very little impact on air quality but a much larger impact on the councils earnings. Another underhand tax on the public along with the MUP fiasco. https://www.heraldscotland.com/news/23549119.glasgow-air-quality-meets-targets-lez-scrapped/

Drastic oversimplification on the drink there most drinks were above the minimum unit price when it was introduced and only the high strength changed significantly my wife has Finromyalgia and her rheumatologist told us that smoking in homes was to blame she told us the SNP had a plan to ban all tobacco sales that was dropped after the tobacco companies threatened to ruin the country with law suits I’d agree Sunak’s ban is gibberish though and he is only doing it to lay a trap for the incoming government

There wasn't one usual drink unaffected. Beer, whisky, vodka, you name it, was affected by the stupid, blanket blame unit pricing. I hate the tory philosophy with a vengeance but, in this instance, I have to agree with their stance. Remember the excess money accrued by the ridiculous minimum price policy only lines the pockets of those selling the drink. Almost mirroring what happens with illegal drink/drug sales. portmahomack saint
They'll be banning shagging next, but it won't affect me as I'm already on a ban it seems We'll soon be replaced by another species when the shagging ban takes its toll which won't actually be a bad thing when you look at what's happening in the world, I reckon dogs could emerge as the dominant species once we all fade away as they won't be affected by the ban and they don't give a shit where they are or who's watching them my kind of species They may have to look at the family allowance or maybe contraception mind as things could get right out of control, the only downside I can see it could lead to racial tensions if dogs cant be stopped coming over the channel in boats and rafts, my dog can't stand any other dog in the street never mind dogs from abroad
faraway saint
We're on the plane and they announced people on the flight have a nut allergy so please don't eat any nut based products. FFS. 🙄

Apparently some folk are that sensitive to nuts that if they were to touch something that at a nut eater had just touched it can bring on a reaction. I can't see how stopping you from eating nuts on a plane prevents you from having been in contact with them.

Indeed. Another case of over reaction. I had 25 packets of KP nuts for the flight. 🤣

Cause in a plane it's not as easy to get to a hospital if the person that suffers from the allergy was to go into anaphylaxis shock. 😉

I'm not a big fan of sweeping bans as there is no end to where the do gooders would have us. Edited April 22 by faraway saint

faraway saint
6 minutes ago, HSS said: It’s all to do with the air conditioning on planes It really isn't..... There is no evidence to show that peanut or tree nut residue circulates in the air, as opposed to it quickly settling on surfaces. The widespread and often repeated belief about dangerous particles becoming airborne from opened nut packets (known as aerosolization) is a myth.
