I actually think that Scotland could be a thriving independent country, I just don’t think that the opportunity will arise again to vote on it. The region description is purely how the EU views Scotland, same as Catalonia and that bit of Belgium that is trying to gain independence.

Hey girls, maybe national service is a better idea than I originally thought. Plenty of countries have it, including some that the nationalists use as a beacon of light. A number of European countries, including Sweden, Norway and Denmark, already have a form of conscription for their armed forces. Conscription requires young men and women to serve for a limited time in uniform.

I heard that the latest opinion polls shows that Labour will have a majority in Scotland with the SNP losing a considerable amount of seats which will put an end to the this fairy tale that some will not let go despite having the opportunity in the last democratic vote. I wonder if this comes to fruition what the bitter element in the SNP, continually shouting about lies etc, will come up with after their pumped at the polls?

There will never be another referendum if we all think as you do. Either not believing in Scotland's ability to fend for itself, (which you kind of let it be known by calling us "a region"), or deciding that we cannot force the issue. I can assure you that, if we have belief and if we choose to voice that belief, we can and will get the choice once more. We might not be in the EU as it stands but that is not the only reason for the referendum being called. IF enough vote for the change, even if the blue, or red tories decide to block our route to choose I believe that pressure could be put to turn that decision. We would not be the first nation to separate from the so called British Empire. We would have just as much right to do so if it is the will of the people. If this was not the case, the unionists would not be trying every underhanded trick in the book to stop the SNP.

I admire your enthusiasm, however there has been a lot of unforeseen outcomes throughout history when chasing ideals. I don’t think there will ever be another independence vote in the U.K. because we are no longer in the EU. The only reason that Cameron agreed to the 2014 vote was because we were an anomaly in Europe (a region that voted consistently different from the government they received) the EU put pressure on the U.K. to remedy the anomaly so hay presto a referendum. Since this pressure is no longer relevant then I don’t foresee another referendum.

SR is damping down any speculation by coming out early doors and saying we are going to have a quiet summer. He did say he wanted another midfielder and a quick forward. (Hopefully one who knows where the net is).

THe big difference for me is, no matter who is in charge of the SNP in the UK, they are not going to run my country. That's a decision to be taken IF we vote for independence so the leader of the SNP is largely insignificant in the scheme of things. I am voting for an ideal, an ultimate goal, not a party.

Manager has brought 2 in and seems relatively happy with what he has at present - we needed to address Keeper and Strain departing and he has done that early doors which is good . I would like to think any other additions are emphasising quality over quantity - to keep improving it's game changers we need as opposed to just " bodies " .

I don't want to start a new thread but has anybody seen speculation about contracts, frees, players returning , new signings etc. It is 10 days since end of the season Normally at this time the forum is buzzing with speculation. Apologies if there is a thread elsewhere. If so, please point me to it.

As far as I know, Sturgeon has not been charged with anything and, if you're talking about Salmond, he is not part of the SNP and I believe he was found innocent, so I don't really see your point.. ETA. If you're inferring duplicity in their case, there was a public falling out between the pair but that was after Salmond left the SNP so it wasn't stabbing in the back to get to the top.

Seriously? Did you actually pay attention to the post? The point I was making was his duplicity and backstabbing. Nothing to do with anything unlawful. Definitely underhanded though. If he did what he did to a "friend" to climb the political ladder and turn Labour tory how can anyone trust him with the keys to No.10?
