  1. Hopefully Goodie is here for a hugely successful decade but if not - probably a decent shout. Good move by our "feeder" club.
  2. I don't think anyone has questioned "the man". Goodie is hugely popular and rightly so. He is the right man for us now that OK is away. The questions are more around the process our Club adopts when preparing for a new season. GLS is on record saying he knew OK was leaving. Gus is there to identify new players and ensure continuity regardless of managers leaving. Jim Goodwin is on record saying the Cups are very important to him and the Club yet here we are with a cup game against Dunfermline looming and we are 4 top players down on last season and instead of watching our new signings play a friendly we are seeing 6 very speculative trialists. It just gives the appearance that the Club thinks the season starts proper at Christmas. No knicker wetting just saying.
  3. Post Stubbs, wee Tommy and Murray anything is possible. #scarred
  4. Same here but I do a bit of occasional "just about to buy" type reading in filling stations and supermarkets before shuffling off feeling and no doubt looking dodgy.
  5. Totally agree. And the loan guys have to be the right type as well. It says a lot for the dressing room atmosphere last season that a couple of our loan guys were happy to sign up had the money been right.
  6. Hopefully it's early days I just cant believe Saints are not sitting with a comfortable wedge of cash.
  7. How can that be though? Over a million for finishing 11th, money from McGinn, decent crowds. How shit is this Board at money management? If we are skint GLS should hang his head in shame.
  8. We must totally exploit the loan deal market. It gives us access to better players that we have no chance of ever being able to afford or sign. I would have thought the plan has to be a blend of core team, max number of top loan players and maybe a breakthrough player or two from the academy.
  9. It's a strange process. Seems we are content to let top players like Hodson, Popescu, Muzek and Duckens leave and not have any replacements lined up early enough to be able to say hello to each other and the rest of the team before the season starts. Games like tonight would make more sense if it involved the core of the team getting some game time with the new signings.
  10. Do you still read it in the shop without buying it?
  11. Bet the UK Ambassador to the United States wishes he had St Mirren's iron clad security around leaks. All these top transfer deals bubbling away and not a peep from the Simple Digital arena.
  12. And perhaps unsurprisingly available for a 3 year contract 😎
  13. I would be a striker addict if I was a manager. I would just keep bringing them on board in the hope that regardless of how badly a striker has struggled elsewhere Saints just turn out to be the perfect fit - like past goal scoring machines Dougie Somner, Jimmy Bone and Mark Yardley. Get May in!
  14. Think he is gone Bud and not coming back.
  15. I do agree. I am in blind faith mode!
  16. I'm working on the assumption that the scouting team found and worked with Hodson, Muzek and Popescu so they know how good they are - any new recruits will rightly be measured against what we have lost. Hopefully, some exciting signings bubbling away.
  17. You think Oran improved Stephen McGinn? Yes and most certainly Ryan Flynn.
  18. If we had loosened the purse strings to sign Popescu and Hodson - both wanted to stay- we would have the core of a right good team. That's GLS and Gus's job.
  19. Just watched a cracking video on @clydebankfc and it makes me grateful that our club has made more good moves than bad ones. Hopefully SMFC will be there for many more generations of Saints fans.
  20. And the fan ownership model we decided to adopt.
  21. Jim Goodwin is in the building. Buckle up Buds. COYS!
  22. We seem to do way better than our immediate competition in the January transfer windows and way worse than our competition in the main transfer window. Is this because the fear of dropping into the Championship is heightened when we are sitting bottom at Christmas and the numbers get re-worked in some way or is there a separate January budget?
