  1. most practical and sensible way to " invest " money in our stadium , would be to explore a way to divide one of the ends into two , so we can accommodate an away crowd of say 2,000 , or be in a position to offer an away support 700 tickets and keep the rest of the stadium for our own fans .
  2. He had a few decent team mates over the years , wonder how friendly he is with Mikel Arteta who I think might know of a player or two wanting to go out on loan.
  3. will be interesting to see who his first signings are , and who he brings on loan
  4. thanks for sharing , worth watching the last few minutes , you can see why the board appointed him , comes across very well , and might be the man to set solid fouyndations for the club, lets hope his contact book has some interesting names in it . Whats Mikel Arteta upto now ( he seems to be linked with a few good jobs )
  5. I,m not a fan of McIntyre,s but in all fairness to him he has a good record at Ross County , and also at QOS , in both instances he would have won a lot of points off teams that are better resourced , so should he be first choice I,ll be ok with it .
  6. Its Guti for me as well , a couple of Real Madrid youngsters on loan , and a couple of Spanish youngsters signed on the cheap , theres potential for us to use the rules to sign a few decent players and sell them on , Guti as manager would make it a far more interesting couple of years than a season or two under Jim McIntyre , failing Guti Micky Mellons not a bad shout
  7. i think he would be an excellent choice , read a bit about him in the Kluivat articl, the only surprise is why no club in the lower leagues in England have pursued him . matbe he just wants to come home.
  8. And that will why Robbie Neilson withdrew his application , he would have been happy to take the job if he were offered it , but has now hear5d he is not the preferred candidate , just my opinion , but things starting to get interesting ,
  9. An expectation of a top four finish would suggest the manager will have a few bob to put a decent squad together , I don,t think this will be the case , common sense and livi8ng within our means is very much how the current board operate , with this in mind , our new manager will be a person with decent contacts who is able to maximise whatever budget we have , the guy Oran Kearney from Coleraine sounds interesting , his appointment if it happens would be similar to Sunderland going for Jack Ross , but if he were to come I would think it would make sense for him to have an assistant who is familiar with the game in Scotland , my first choice though , would be Robbie Neilson.
  10. I'm disappointed we have missed out on OWare and Sibbald , exactly the kind of player we should be looking for and very much within our our budget , my hope is that Jack does us alright and sends a couple of decent loanees up for us to have a look at .
  11. meant to also type , that's why its understandle that Jack jumped at the opportunity , because at this stage in time theres only one club in Scotlajnd bigger than Sunderland
  12. I,ve always thought if Celtic and Rangers went down to England they would be as successful as Sunderland and Newcastle .
  13. I actually think that,s a combination that would work well , and one that I would be happy with
  14. he went online and the odds were 20/1 , went to put a bet on and they were down to 5/1
  15. was chatting to an Alloa fan on Saturday who was at their promotion party the previous evening and were chatting to Goodie about Jack and the Ipswich job , Goodie told him he reckoned Jack would get the Sunderland job ( Alloa fan went to the bookies , but could only get 5/1 , so never put a bet on ) , so I suspect there would have been a few people about expecting this . I would be happy if Robbie Neilson or David Hopkin got the post , failing that a Jim Goodwin / Danny Lennon combination would be ok , or even James Fowler being promoted .
  16. I,m disappointed with the timescale from when Ipswich first interviewed Jack Ross until when they wanted to let him know whether or not he was successful , which may have effected our own recruitment process .
  17. very disappointed Ipswich have not shown us any respect in this process, and hope they get their comeuppance in due course
  18. Alloa fan I know was chatting to Jim Goodwin about JR , and Goodie suggested that Jack was a serious candidate for the Sunderland job.
  19. lets hope behind the scenes we already have a new manager in place , and are actively pursuing transfer targets .
  20. interesting article , all you need to do is change Shrewsbury to St Mirren , and Hurst to Ross , and you have the reasons why they have interviewed Jack Ross.
  21. I can see why Jack Ross is the bookies favourite , he,,s had an interview in London , and obviously impressed , his second interview will be in Ipswich where he can see they training grounds , have a look at a couple of nice superbs close by , check out local schools , with a strong likelihood that he will be unveiled as manager the following day . The guy managing Shrewsbury may have other teams pursuing him , and Ipswich would have to compete with them in a week or so,s time if they want him , so if they have invited Jack for a second interview I think Ipswich are very close to an agreement with him .
  22. The real issue is that we have a sought after manager , and there a several jobs available at clubs far bigger than us , the St Mirren managers job is a stepping stone to better things and always will be . I hope Jack Ross gets the Ipswich job , not because I want him to leave , I just think now would be a good time for us to get a replacement in , who can start to improve our squad .
  23. Taken far too soon ,just a young lad ,RIP Kenny .
  24. Whilst I agree with you , I wish they were both playing for us next season.
  25. Good Luck to Stellios , still think we should have kept him as a squad player , its not just about a players ability to perform , sometimes a players presence can lift the crowd , and inspire the whole team to move up a gear.
