I hope people will stop commending him for being "ruthless" and "demanding high standards" now every time he gets rid of a player. Any clown can come in and rip a team apart. Doesnt mean they are making the right decision or have high standards.

What was wrong with the way he conducted himself?

Hopefully a comfortable 3 or 4-0 win to get the morale back up. Don't want to be going into the Dundee game with the negative feeling around the team at the moment.

I don't think he ever had it in the first place.

Its called man management. Some players need an arm round the shoulder and made feel wanted. They are kids basically. If he had shown a bit more desire to keep him and a more tactful man management approach we would have a proven goalscorer in the squad rather than the two we are stuck with at the moment.

I think he's wrong to want rid of Eckersley and MacKenzie the same as I thought he was wrong for not trying harder to keep Reilly. I'm not surprised though that he's not playing. Once a manager openly says you're not wanted I wouldn't expect to be playing in any pre season games.

I don't think you can compare "If you hate the fking English" chants to anything we sing against Morton. I go to most Scotland games and hate it when they start singing that. I don't mind calling a rival club all the b*st*rds under the sun but it can't stand it when its against a country/nationality.

3. He's already said Eckersley doesn't have a future at the club (rightly or wrongly) so why would he play him in a friendly?

Any Partick fan could have told us that before we signed him. Strange move.

The decision to tell experienced and respected players like Mackenzie and Eckersley that they are not needed and can leave surely must create resentment among other players. Especially when these players are replaced with unknowns like Heaton from the English non leagues.

Some of his signings look nothing short of horrendous and unfortunately I suspect his two "marquee" signings are now both in Iran and Salford.

The decision to give Stubbs a 3 year contract could end up being a costly one.

A half job? Are you being serious? He got us back to the PL when we looked certain to be playing in the 3rd tier of Scottish football for the first time in our history. We were in the biggest downward spiral the club had ever experienced and would have almost certainly had to go part time because the way we were going theres no way we would have won League 1 at the first time of asking. Some of the dummy spitting from people on here is just embarrassing.

Interested to know what league you think we would be playing in this season if we hadn't appointed him? Or if we would be playing in any league at all?

Anyone that thinks of Jack as anything less than an absolute legend of the club is deluded.

Another English non league player

Both teams had to play on it! They've made a mockery of this cup by essentially turning it into a pre season tournament. Which is why you see freak results like our Partick 5-0 last year.I wouldnt read too much into it. If it happened mid season it would be a different issue all together.

The last time in 2006 when we drew 0-0 with them was worse considering that was mid-season.

I wouldnt let him go tbh. We will be getting to the stage where we literally can't field a team if we get a few injuries. I'm not saying hippo is a great player but we need bodies at the moment more than anything.

A lot of people aiming low here. It depends how you define "success" but to me success would be top 6. 10th or above would be acceptable and I'd be happy enough with that considering we have just came up but I wouldn't use the word "success" to describe it.

It's not rubbish. It's one of the risks you need to accept if you put a sell on clause onto a deal. Can you explain how on earth you feasibly expect the value of an additional player onto the deal to be determined? And who would define it?

If SMISA had a pound for every time somebody wheeled out the line "St Mirren claim to be a community club..." before they proceed to moan about something, they'd have the 600k to GS paid off by now.

Kirkpatrick will go out on loan for the season then leave when his contract runs out so I can't see him kicking a ball for us again. Mcshane is a decent squad player no harm in keeping him.

Fair enough. Seems a bit of a mental situation for that to happen. Would have thought it was just one of these risks that needs to be accepted when you include a sell on fee in a deal.
