  1. He's been a disaster at almost every club he's been at. I assume you haven't actually looked at his record and just see the big name. He's close to a mirror image of Owen Coyle. Look how that panned out.
  2. What has Pressley ever done in management to warrant being in the frame?
  3. Since we are out of it now, who do you think is going to win it next season? Judging by history I'm going to rule out the two teams relegated from the PL straight away as they normally never go straight back up. The two this year aren't anything special compared to others in the past who have came down and failed to return in the first season. I can't see DU being that much better either next season. It will be between Dunfermiline and ICT for me. I've gone in the end for Dunfermiline. 1. Dunfermiline 2. ICT 3. County 4. Falkirk 5. QoS 6. Partick 7. Dundee Utd 8. Ayr 9. Alloa 10. Morton
  4. Its a sad state of affairs if a team like Carlisle could prize him away. Would definitely be a backwards step for him but probably slightly more money in the short term if thats his mindset.
  5. Two major points you are maybe chosing to ignore with the comparison of those managers/clubs situation. 1) Those were all PL clubs at the time of those contract negotiations and will have substantially greater finances and bargaining power than us when offering their manager a contract. 2) None of those managers won manager of the year and arguably done as good a job as Jack this year. The manager of the year accolade has definitely increased his profile out with Scotland IMO. If Sunderland or Ipswich wanted Robinson/Lennon/Clarke they would be coming in for them. They aren't being put off by any potential comp package. The man they are interested in is Jack, not them.
  6. He's been at 4 clubs since Norwich and failed at every single one of them. Not many managers get the opportunity to fail 4 times in a row. He is another Owen Coyle IMO. I wouldn't want us to go anywhere near him.
  7. The problem with that is Steve Clarke is a good manger and Paul Lambert isn't. As has been proven time and time again.
  8. If it was 100% happening it would be done. Why just hold off for the sheer sake of it? I'm not saying it won't happen and I'm not saying it isn't very close but its not 100%.
  9. I don't think clubs should be providing a running commentary on the negotiations. When something concrete happens - they'll say. Club official channels should be reserved for facts rather than opinions and speculation.
  10. He got a 6 million quid pay off so probably not too harsh on him. He'll pick up another EPL job around Halloween after the first wave of managerial sackings. Keep them up. Get sacked. Get paid off. Repeat.
  11. We should have another open top bus to celebrate
  12. Definitely not. They have a set list of them they look at and dont deviate from it. You just need to look at Jamie Murphy. 29 years old and never had a full cap in his life. Joins one half of the old firm and within 2 months he's getting a call up.
  13. I think we could finish above either of them. Both similar levels of ability IMO. I would look forward to Partick more for the away day so for that reason I hope they win the play off.
  14. I know I'm biased but I do think Jack is better than any of them and has done a greater job than any of the managers you mentioned had at the stage they went down. It's all about picking the right opportunity though. Thats a major factor in it. If Jack had taken that Barnsley job it's very likely they would still have been relegated and he would have been sacked by now. That wouldn't make him a bad manager or mean he done a bad job but he would already be looked at as a failure. Same with Neil Lennon. I rate him very highly as a manager but he jumped at absolutely the wrong job with Bolton and now nobody will touch him down there.
  15. Thought the interview was taking place next week? He hasn't spoken to them yet. So that would be the first interview. According to what I've read anyway.
  16. He obviously will have already agreed to do it and didnt want to let them down. Dont think anything bad was said or asked. Just Sutton being typical Sutton really.
  17. Agree with most of what you said but I never agree with the comparison people make between football and "real/normal" jobs. If you moved company for whatever times your current salary your new company aren't likely to sack you by Halloween/Xmas. In football and especially the Championship thats a very viable situation. Plus may other things you just can't compare. I do think though that this is one he should take. They are a decent club and much more stable than most down there. He will have confidence in his own ability to get them promoted next season and I'm sure he'll jump at the chance of that. I'll be sad to seem him go though.
  18. As much as it pains me to say it I think this is one option which Jack will/should take. His stock as a manager is as high as it's going to get at the moment. Just won the championship and manager of the year. To keep it at that level he'd need to win a cup next year or at least get us into the top 6 which is unlikely if we are being honest. If we were to finish 8th it would be a really good season for us but I cant see championship clubs queuing up for a manager who finished 8th in the Scottish premiership. Ipswich arent a basket case of a club which alot of other English championship clubs are. Got good British owners who give the manager time and a solid fan base They've been in thay division for a long time and it's not unreasonable for him to be looking at winning the title with them next season.
  19. He's done a great job at Aberdeen. He has established them as the consistent 2nd force in Scottish football. This is the first time anyone out with the old firm has done that since the 80's. We've had the periods of Motherwell, Hibs, Hearts, Dundee Utd etc coming 2nd but its only ever lasted for a year or two then they are away down the league again. He has had Aberdeen up there and getting to cup semis and finals consistently for a number of years now. This is supposedly Aberdeen's bad season and they are going into the last day of the season in 2nd place and 1 point ahead of their competitors who have over 3-4 times the operating budget as them. It doesn't matter if you like him personally or not theres no denying the job he has done.
  20. I wouldn't say you dismantled the financial argument. Since you conceded 80k I didn't see much point of debating the further 20k.
  21. The long and short of it is that this is an inconvenience for the fans who have to move seats. Is this inconvenience to you to move seat really not worth the benefits it brings to the club? Many of us travel all over the country to support St Mirren at awkward and difficult kick off times which I would imagine is a massive inconvenience to people - financially and logistically. But we do it for the love of the club. Is it too much to ask for someone to sit 40 meters away from where they normally sit for 3 games? The over reaction on this is ridiculous.
  22. I agree. They always get ridiculed on here for having such a bad season. Most teams that come down have at least one nightmare season. If this is as bad as it gets for them then its a million times better than our nightmare season was.
  23. Minus significant increase in police costs and income lost through reducing South stand season ticket prices. Also not every ticket will be £25 due to kids tickets. The police costs won't be significantly more. The previous arrangement included segregating the west stand. That wouldn't have been cheap. This way there is no stand segregated. There might be an increase on police costs but it won't be significant unless they are on a couple of grand each for a few hours work.
