I like the age group that TC is targeting - young with some experience and something to prove.

Negativity is poisonous. Maybe you personally feel a sense of release of emotion but it is a wet blanket that brings down the spirit and enthusiasm of everyone else around you. Negativity achieves negative consequences whereas positivity motivates, inspires and builds bonds and produces positive consequences. Being positive does not mean you do not care or just accept anything. It means you work with what you have and improve what you have and try to gain a higher standard. Negativity achieves nothing.

Do you know the line-up TC?

Only 21 with a very decent history (although a succession of injuries) but also 6ft 3in so definitely worth a look.

Reasonably pleased with this. He had a good season with us and we know what we are getting. Also has added a central defence capability to his game. Decent squad player.

If Naismith scored again can we just play him up front?

I thought the trialist showed up well. Confident, good passing, strong. Its only a pre-season friendly but he did ok for himself.

Eh, naw. I clicked on the thread name from the forum page which does not name who started the thread. Seeing it was FB I did not look up the player's name in question. But being a good soul I offered advice to someone who does not post regularly on the forum

i think it was a bad decision to let McGowan go. For me he held the ball up top better than anyone at the club and one of the best in the League at that. He was the only player we played in the role between midfield and striker and he played it very well. When McGowan wasn't playing the gap between midfield and Thommo was frightening with Thommo having no service. For a guy who will not be missed much by some, he was a permanent fixture over the last four seasons being one of the first names on the team sheet. I am sure his wages at Dundee will be a lot less than what we gave him last season (conjecture, I know). Now that life had settled itself and English clubs had lost interest (remember he was expected to move down South this time last year) I thought Paul would kick on this year. Maybe he will for Dundee. I think we lost a very good and experienced SPFL player to a rival when we could have kept him. Maybe TC will change tactics this year and felt there was no room in the new setup for Paul. Time will tell. But at the moment I feel like it he is a loss we did not have to make. But he is history now and TC will be judged on the decision.

How can we tell?

Some of the comments made about Caldwell are embarrassing and reflect most on who made them. Everyone is entitled to an opinion but to make it personal and vilify a young lad who hasn't even played a game yet is cringeworthy in the extreme.

I can remember a young guy we signed, after being released by Hibs, called Broadfoot. Within 4 years he was team captain and went on to play for Scotland. That worked out ok for us.

I am just over 40 ( ) and been supporting the Club for 45 years and ANXIETY is not a word I would even consider towards my feeling for the forthcoming season. 1 because life is too short to be anxious about a football team and 2 we have a good squad at the moment which will have additions before the season starts so nothing to worry about .

On P&B there is a hell of a lot of moaning on the Fakes thread due to severe staff budget cuts. Wright has allegedly been told to promote more youths. Looks like they will be weaker this season however they still have a decent squad.

We may have a first 11 Drew but little cover all over the squad. The young guys may surprise us and do very well like Naismith & Kelly or disappoint like so many have done before. We certainly need more cover for all areas bar goalkeeper as windae cleaner says.
