  1. Thanks to those who worked out all the possible permutations. I'm sure there's one more that only St Mirren could find to put us all in a psychiatric ward mumbling about percentages and if they beat them then draw with them then they beat them and them draw with them and they beat they we'll be safe. Is it Saturday yet? Nurse!!
  2. Handle the nerves and we win the game. Thought the nerves got the better of us against thistle and as a result our rhythm suffered. Hopefully we'll have learned from that and can relax with the fans behind the team.We are now sitting top of the mini league and one more win might well be enough. If we stay calm Adams hot headedness may well affect his team and provided our support don't get on the players backs we will beat them.
  3. "top of the league and you're no' " Very poor standard all round, very nervy particularly from us. This weekend will be interesting with Hibs in free fall. Stevie the God looked very frustrated, just not his night. Dannys subs were spot on. Thistle have made a habit of scoring very late, thankfully not tonight. Enjoyed Gus's comments and his choice of MoM shows he does know something about creative football after all! Roll on next week
  4. It was pleasing to hear that we had an unhappy dressing room. We have been at the wrong end of the table all season so there should be friction between players and manager, it shows they care about what's happening.the rough times can bring you together, perhaps that's what happening now albeit almost too late. Giving some thought to Dannys position. This is a real dilemma if we finish 7th. I have wanted him out many times over the season, especially regarding transfers. But now I'm thinking give him one more season( I'd better duck now) I do think there is a good manager in there. Its just that sometimes when he gets it wrong it's monumental. He has got it very right at times and we've got some great performances and results. That's not flukey. Would any other premier team be happy to have him as their no 1? Probably not. maybe he is just punching above his weight and now is his time to bulk up over the close season and show he really has learned from his mistakes
  5. Thank Christ we don't play hearts until our last game as it looks like they will hurt a few teams with their defiant style. With the nature of the split meaning someone losing ground very quickly its a must that we don't lose on Friday.I would take a yoni yoni ( that's what 0-0 sounds like in Gaelic to me anyway) Thistle will be a very tough prospect at firhill. It's great to feel confident and we are playing well enough to win. I just wish I could watch us just once and not be shitting myself. Nearly 40 years of this and still haven't learned.
  6. Reading butchers post match comments it looks likely he will try and choke the life out of this game and take a point. By his own admission they can't score, and, Saturday aside, we find goals hard to come by also. If we could get an early goal it might see them crumble as they are low in confidence. A point for us wouldn't be a disaster but this is the time when one win is huge as the teams around us will naturally start hurting each other. It's just a shame it's not this week as hibs are clearly reeling.
  7. Very happy with these, hopefully puts paid to conspiracy theories. Nerve jangling weeks ahead, goody goody
  8. A win for us, and the teams around us, brings hibs right into the mix. Questions have been asked whether or not we have the stomach for a fight, but do hibs who haven't been in the play off equation until now? The hibees will be very nervous now as they go into the last part of the season playing against a number of teams who have been feeding off scraps for a number of weeks. The bottom six games always throw up some weird results. I suspect ( and hope) that Particks revival is about to severely tested. I hate the fact that we white knuckle the last part of the season EVERY year, however we can never be accused of playing meaningless boring end of season games. We look forward to our customary nervous breakdown/ immediate recovery when we confirm our spl status for another season with one game to go. Or will we leave it til the last game just for the entertainment?
  9. Maybe we somebody should remove the S again from the front of the stadium because at the moment we aint Mirren
  10. Good point about Craig. I thought this when he was appointed but hoped for the best. You are right sir he has been involved in too many failures for it to be a coincidence.
  11. If the stories about the Cowdenbeath related takeover group are true we need to act NOW or we will be stuck with Danny as it's likely he'll be well in with them. Perish the thought of Danny leading us in a two legged play off. We are clearly lost. We have good players but a terrible team. Please let me wake up and find him gone
  12. As the fakes appear to have little to play for I suspect they will shitfest the game which is not ideal for us as we will be expected to break them down. While this appears to be a must win game, the games post split will decide our fate. Wouldn't be surprised at a 0-0 bore draw. Hope I'm wrong obviously but a point wouldn't be the end of the world against a side considerably more accomplished than us
  13. A blatant offside goal and two blunders. Just the things that happen when you're down at the bottom. Most of us would have happily accepted a point, even surrendering a two goal lead, but the third was a real sickener. Kello looked like he wanted the ground to swallow him up. Obviously I wasn't at the match but after watching the highlights it would be harsh to be over critical. We seem to get punished for every mistake and get away with nothing which will only serve to make the players more nervous. Football is a confidence game and perhaps we will have more options with teale returning to fitness. The thing is I will always be a buddie irrespective of how we play or what division we are in. I've experienced incredible highs and heartbreaking lows and a wild guess says this will continue because it's who we are. Angry and emotional reactions after a defeat are all part and parcel of being a fan. I lost count of the number of times I came out of love street vowing never to be back after a bad defeat then returning for the next game and singing my head off, the pain of the last defeat a distant memory. So roll on Saturday and the pain and anxiety we all know and love
  14. Danny and the team should write a book, 101 different ways to lose a football match. We are now well and truly in a dog fight and with hibs also losing it makes the post split games very nerve wracking indeed. It's going to be about bottle. Are we up for it? How many great escapes can we perform? I worry that going into the split we will have lost a lot of games while the others around us are grinding out wins. We need to treat the post split games as a clean sheet and the start of a mini league otherwise I fear we are goosed.
  15. No doubt Danny will tinker with the side who won last time out. Had a feeling all week that Newton will score twice today, god knows where I get my optimism. Unfortunately I'll be at work this afternoon, so no keeping up to date on here for me. Plus none of the team I'm on with are into football so I'll be talking( chuntering) to myself all afternoon and probably won't know the score until about 9.30.
  16. As the old saying goes, size doesn't matter it's what you do with it that counts! Cough cough. For a club that struggles to attract crowds of more than 4000 to remain in the top flight and win trophies is nothing short of a miracle. For me there has always been a feeling of being nearly a very successful club. Perhaps that's in our clubs DNA, who knows. As for marketing the club I do my bit down here and do everything I can to encourage people to go to a game if they are visiting scotland. I have no idea what the club does to attract people to games but winning games generally helps a little. Some of us will remember the days we played in Europe and called ourselves Paisley St Mirren purposely to embellish our identity and increase local pride in the team. I'm not a Paisley boy but it's funny how that has stuck in my memory so it worked for me ( I was already well converted by then anyway). One town, one team really appealed to me but did it bring more people in? On a visit to Paisley i found the atmosphere in the town very flat indeed, as if there was an air of despondency. If that's the case then motivating people to go to games at current prices when things are tight is going to be challenging. Just had a thought, I know it's not that far to walk but how about using the minibus as a courtesy bus from say gilmour street to the ground with a saints flag sticking out the top? Two or three trips and that an extra 40 odd on to the crowd. Not much I know, but it's a start.
  17. Just an observation of thommo from the highlights. For someone who is reported by some to be tired his aerial ability is sensational. His timing makes him appear to hover. He wins high ball he has no right to win and his subsequent knock downs to others deserves a better end product from his team mates. Maybe Danny is right about us "clicking". The only thing that clicks with me is my right knee.
  18. We need to either release goodwin at the end of the season or put him in rehab for a personality replacement. It's now ridiculous how much unjust attention hes getting. Yet another fellow professional accusing jim of two elbowing incidents when one was a clash of heads! Some no mark from county spouting off in the paper should be called in for bringing the game into disrepute. I won't read rat face Adams comments on the stv site as it's obvious what they contain. He also should be pulled in. There seems to be no one in the sfa willing to step in and stop this. We can blame Goodwin all we like and god knows he's been a bit silly at times but it really pisses me off when humans can't think for themselves and jump on the bandwagon, and other dafties believe them. Were going to have to get Goodwin a strip that has the sleeves sewed into the body to keep his arms by his side. He'd still gat booked for someone falling into him
  19. Every game from now until the end of the season must be played like a one off cup tie. The tinkering will continue no doubt, Danny can't help himself. It's what he's always done and will continue to do. I have some sympathy for the players, being played out of position over and over. The ones who are played in position get confused by the constant meddling going on around them. We are obviously in deep doodoo with seemingly the worst current form of those around us. Perhaps our saving grace is that after the split there are usually a number of very strange results, quite often in our favour. Is our luck about to run out? Yet another white knuckle end to our season looms. Here we go again!
