  1. Storm in a Teacup. If we land a gem, great, it worked!
  2. Probably John Gave up collecting Beer bottles after that and joined the Junior Supporters Club after that. Could have kept collecting on that bus ;) Happy Days!
  3. Born in Renfrew, lived in Barrhead for 20 years, but have lived in Paisley for the past 21 years. As a kid, I used to get a lift over, along with my cousins from Gallowhill and collect beer bottles, but never really supported the Buds. When I went to Secondary School at St.Mirin's, I realised folk supported other teams, rather than The Old Firm. Had a soft spot for Dundee Utd (I think I liked their strip, all tangerine with a black strip on the shorts). Attended a game versus Dundee Utd (in 1969/70 I think) with my cousin and their neighbour (born in St.Helens and a Bud for life) and declared that whoever won, that was who I would support for the rest of my Puff. Needless to say, Saints won and the rest is history. I'd guess a large percentage of Saints Fans do not live in Paisley.
  4. I do not know Mr Riley, although as a member of The Junior Supporters Club in the 70s I probably did. However, his statement lists his experience and commitment. What more should any candidate - as a Fans representative - have? Does any candidate have to have something to 'bring to the table'? What if I brought £1m to the table, but was a fan of Sevco. As I have stated on another Forum, I am perhaps more interested in a Candidate who is a Fan, who will and can represent the Fans interests at Boadroom level and keep a fans eye on dealings on in the Boardroom. Any other attributes are a bonus. MODS! I don't know if there is a 'pinned' thread elsewhere on here where prospective Candidates can put there case forward and ask for nominations, but maybe there should be? Or pin this one.
  5. She even has a big nibble at his ear at the end.
  6. After reading David's statement, and in the interests of hopefully having real election with several candidates, I would like to nominate David Riley.
  7. Yes... it's called 'garage' (soul) uses Autotune to painful degree and is waaaaaaay bad.
  8. After 4 days, puts another whole slant on 'old wrinklies'
  9. Sounds like he needs a DJio. Phil (or Al), if you're reading this, I'll sell you one cheap! ETA: I did notice a slightly better performance from the PA system last home game. However, the interviews with Shuggie and DVZ... mumbles. In fairness, mibbes that's their natural voices
  10. I am sorry if you thought I was not welcoming your 'idea', but you should really have contacted the Club, even through the Suggestions Wall. The Title of this thread is 1877 Club. Wrong on both counts mah man. Just don't like Loadsamoney attitudes which some on here like to flaunt. I would have thought a miser like you would understand. Apparently, the 1877 Club members website is seldom updated. Parking has always been available and the main SMFC website has a whole section about fans facilities etc. if you bothered to look. Everyone should know that. Glad to help I'm afraid the Club Accounts do not go into that depth of detail M'Lud. Most likely it will be lumped under a catch-all 'other income' ... if you're lucky. Why don't you just purchase Hospitality, which can give you everything you are asking for and more. I am sure the Club will even give you a discount if you buy it per Season, but I don't recommend the unlimited drinks package if you are driving. You would even get you're own 'exclusive entrance' and smokers are allowed out same entrance for a smoke (with an Ashtray!), unlike the rest of us Plebs.
  11. Very stylish. Is that an 'M' reg? What country is that? Forgive my interest, as living in Kirklandneuk as a boy, I was a bit of a plane-spotter. ETA. Thanks for the photo.
  12. I am sure if you approached SMFC and offered to buy a designated' parking space from them, they would accomodate you... at a price. I am also sure if you contacted the 1877 Club and offered to pay for full membership, they could accomodate you also, or are you just putting you're thoughts out there in the hope that they will contact you to massage you're rather large ego?
  13. What utter pish. Pish, on so many levels: 1..there is no such thing as the Old Firm as one of the Clubs is a new Club to the Scottish game, the old Club was liquidated a long time ago. You must have seen it on the news? 2. People gloating on here is nowhere as near as bad as when there were Old Firm Fans. For some it is not necessarily hate. Distaste, pity, a feeling of superiority and righteousness maybe. 3. It's good to gloat and goad. How does it feel for you?
  14. Sorry Mate, you will just not get your own 'designated' parking space. First come first served, as it should be.
  15. What problems would they be? To make money (and pay off the remaining balance?) the 1877 Club needs to fill early and be full when closing. THAT would be a good problem to have. Nae chance!
  16. I am sure each candidate will need to put together a blurb on why you should vote for him/her. If they don't, then who in their right mind would vote for them. I am also sure there will be some kind of Hustings. Personally, I'm not that bothered what experience/qualifications they have. I'm not even bothered - or even sure - that they need to working actively behind the scenes in the running of the Club. After all a candidate e.g. may work long hours in their day-job and have little time to actually do any physical work for the Club. There are other Directors and staff already in place to do that. The SMISA Director is a Fan's representative first & foremost. After all, The BOD of SMFC can Co-opt any Director they fancy, Fan or not. No, what I am possibly more interested in: is the candidate a true FAN (not a businessman/chancer who sees an opportunity), can relate SMISA membership concerns to the BOD in an acceptable manner and to keep an eye on - and blow the whistle if needs be - on matters that they deemed NOT to be in SMISA's interests. Of course, if there is a suitable candidate that can combine business savvy with all the above, he gets my vote. From what I've seen and heard, the present SMISA/SMFC Director Davie Nicol is doing a grand job on both fronts. I know he satisfies all MY criteria and will get my vote - unless of course, he does not stand, or a better candidate declares themselves.
  17. JD can stick both tops up their arse! I can wait till the January sales...
  18. Fair enough, but I think the whole 'The Candidate' section is a wish list, but is worded in a way that a person reading it might be deterred from standing for election because they may not satisfy the 'business' criteria/wishlist. The stray 'r' was a thick-fingered typo mate. Big difference. But that is a moot point now after BLF's reply above. Of course, the Criteria should have been shown as 'being advantageous', 'beneficial', 'desired', or something like that. I just don't think it should be put forward in the way it is. It would be interesting to see what would happen if the candidate elected by the SMISA membership had none of the 'Candidate' business criteria.
  19. I hope whoever is elected, has a better command of the English language than the person who wrote the above? To have or to have not. To be or not to be.
  20. No, I'm with Stu on this one. Any SMISA member should be able to stand for election, regardless of qualifications and experience. The membership will then decide if they are fit and proper for the position. That was what we were told early-doors. Seriously, can I ask who put forward this clause and again seriously, can it be rermoved?
