  1. You are a feckin boor mate. Frankly we don't need another season of your ultra negative and tedious crap. Ffs, even your comment surprises me when its still May and we have no idea who is coming in over next month or so. Why don't you actually practice at being a supporter for once. Actually, I don't think you are on the wind up but just someone who needs a cuddle ????
  2. There is no way Dimdee can be determined as better than anyone at this time. Judge them only when the football starts and when teams will have built their respective squads.
  3. There needs to be competition in all positions and even Thommo had a barren spell but could not be rested due to having no one to fill that position. No matter how much we love the big man, having the luxury of knowing you will retain your place, if fit, can have a negative impact. We need another decent striker to take the weight off Thommo and create competition. It is up to every player to fight for a starting place and that is only a positive thing.
  4. The club still have to pay wages during the close season when there is no income from matches etc. As for bringing on young players, it hasn't been too tough on Dundee Utd has it? There is a lot more to running the club than just paying players and the BOD has clearly stated they will live within our means. The Fakes have a wealthy chairman as do Ross County. We don't. Why not wait to see who comes in before doing an Elvis. Judge Tommy and the club when our new team are settled and on performances next season. The status quo is not an option and change can bring success. We have no divine right to be in the top league or even top 6 and far bigger clubs are now plying their trade in a lower division. In a number of cases by spending money they did not have and living beyond their means. Think we are lucky we are supporting a well run club still performing at the top table despite much smaller income than many others. BTW, be prepared for who we bring in bearing in mind reduced budgets as a result of no sponsorship for the league, reduced gate receipts now that both Edinburgh clubs are no longer in the league and likely reduced TV money.
  5. There will be a lot of players out of contract or released. Players come and go and everyone is replaceable. Do you honestly think we cannot bring in a centre half as good as Darren currently is? Who knew about him before Danny brought him to the club? If he leaves then all the best. He is not the player he was in his first season due to 2 horrendous injuries. Keeping him on at the club is also a gamble with the type of injuries he has sustained and the club are showing faith in him if he has been offered a new contract.
  6. On a lighter note, was channel surfing last night and came across 321 with dear old Ted Rodgers from 1981. Surprised to see one of the contestants was none other than Tom Hendrie. He was shit answering questions on pop music.
  7. Robert Newton the old actor who played Long John Silver ☺
  8. To be honest most clubs outside the EPL are rooked financially and attendance's are falling too. A lot are on the brink so expect a number to reduce squad size and wages over the next few years. Still pay more than we do and short career so if he gets a better deal he should take it.
  9. Flicking through tv channels and on 321 is none other than Tom Hendrie from 1981. He was crap at pop artists.
  10. Imrie did not work out. Every player is a gamble. Yes, money spent did not buy success but just think how you would feel if Danny had shelled the £200k on Hibs striker Collins? He scored down south but has failed.
  11. Where is Elvis as he predicted a Hearts win. Must be out drowning his sorrows over a few glasses of Vimto lol
  12. As much as the new strip will take getting used to, I am more concerned about the quality of players filling the strips.
  13. We shouldn't forget that another reason for the players performing better may be down to many soon to be out of contract and trying to get a new deal with either us or any watching club manager? If it is down to Danny's tactics etc., then what has been going on for the last 3-4 seasons?
  14. I think there needs to be a sense if realism as to what is realistic for a club our size and budget to determine whether top 6 is realistic or not. It would be good to know the club's medium to long term aims and how these are to be achieved. I see others refer to our squad and how we should be achieving better success on the park. Personally, we have had defensive problems for years and a lack of firepower up front. Our goal difference demonstrates this. Our manager clearly has not addressed this but we are not privvy to what attempts he has made and what budget he has had to strengthen the team. We do know a lot of his signings have either not worked or are somewhat puzzling. The club will decide Danny's fate based on whether they think he is taking the club forward or not. Perhaps retaining top flight football is the aim and therefore, he will get a new contract.
  15. Seriously, you really are tedious. You are either attempting a wind up or you are the most negative 'fan?' to frequent this forum. You must be a bag of laughs to share a pint with.
  16. Wonderful player for club and country and an all round nice man.
  17. If that happened then so be it. It is what we do rather than continually looking at other team. If we finish up in play off place then we deserve whatever comes. I have no idea why we are so rank at this time but whatever happens there needs to be significant change for next season.
  18. Excluding the cup success, what exactly has Danny done for the club? Are we any further forward than 4 years ago? I have never been a Danny basher and a realist but tactically he is baffeling, his signing policy is not a success other than in 2 or 3 instances and in any football business success on the pitch is the measure at any club. It has been his team for last 3 seasons and on the pitch we are poor and easily beaten. It is his job to manage the players, assess the weaknesses and strengths of our players v the opposition and strengthen any key positions. The continual poor fare demonstrates he has not succeeded in developing the team and himself as a manager and simply has not learned from his mistakes. The players are indeed culpable but if they have a manager that keeps tinkering with the squad, playing players out of position and not dealing with weaknesses in certain positions, then it causes problems on the pitch. I like the man, he has the club's best interests but he clearly cannot do the job he is well paid to do anymore.
  19. Agree that players should be self motivate to succeed as, after all, they are paid well for doing their job. Once they cross that line then the manager cannot do anything other than change tactics or make substitutions. If our players do not or are not able to do the simple things like play a pass on the deck or see the issues on the pitch then they should not be there. What is the role of our captain in all of this, time he got a grip on the pitch and sorted things out. If there are issues about players not happy with playing in certain positions then I expect our captain to raise this with the manager and get it sorted out.
  20. What? You can't have been a fan for long my friend. I could reel out a list of names of managers who I consider have been poorer than our current manager - Tommy Bryceland, David Hay, Alex Miller, Wilson Humphries, Tony Fitzpatrick, John Coughlan Jimmy Bone. It depends on what you consider as 'worse' but to state the worse in history requires some evidence to back that up. We are struggling and there is a lot wrong at this time with the team and how it is playing - both for players and management staff. We have no divine right to remain in the SPL and if we end up in the playoffs and lose out then sobeit - someone has to go down in any league. It may be that our players are not good enough to stay in this league or they may prove me and others wrong by giving themselves a kick up the arse and performing to the level we know they can play at. Nothing is resolved yet and Plastics, Killie and Ross Cunty are all bricking it and easily overtaken by one or two good results. The whole thing will be a battle of nerves and we have to play them all yet. Keep the faith but to state that Danny is the worse manager in our history is naive and unsubstantiated.
  21. I admire your optimism but we are a shambles individually and collectively. Danny has run out of ideas and players are not rolling up the sleeves and showing the fight a team in trouble should be demonstrating. Our team has been lacking for a number of years and for whatever reason has not been addressed. The bottom line is that we have a team with some talent and it would appear the senior/more experienced players are either knackered or simply not performing well. The younger players look to the senior pros when its not going well. They are getting nothing at this time. Frankly we have a manager who knows his time is up managing a mediocre bunch of players nowhere near as good as some believe. Blame can be laid at the manager's door for the shocking dealings in the transfer market but some players need to have a serious look at themselves in the mirror and ask if they are fighting for the cause? Good players rise when the going gets tough and sadly there is a serious lack of any evidence of this for a long time.
