  1. Adi Dassler's company made boots for the German army during the war. That's right German soldiers went into battle wearing Adidas footwear. How many of us, wearing Adidas sannies today, will take a wee moment of contemplation. Yeah none, I know.
  2. I saw The Damned at The Apollo in 1979. I don't remember any Saints related associations.
  3. What about Radiohead.? What's that if not prog?
  4. Elegant and distinguished. Black and white stripes is a classic design for a football top and you really can't make an arse of it. Hang on, wait a minute.......
  5. i I like the way you write, you put commas before words instead of after words. It's a good trick, it looks neat.
  6. Here's a common features of cup wins in '87 and '13. In each case we started our defence of the trophy by losing in our first round tie at home to a team from a lower league. The joys of supporting St.Mirren. And here's another slightly related fact for you which is a bit more palatable. The much ballyhooed Lisbon Lions of '67 opened their defence of the European Cup in August of that year by losing in the first round, to a team who, themselves, lost in the second round.
  7. Danny was a poor manager. We got lucky a couple of years ago with Gonsalves, thanks to him we got to a final, won a cup and he got a few of the goals that kept us up. He turned up as loan player and I'm sure Danny had no say in his arrival. Like most of us I'm sure he'd never heard of him or he team he came from. Our league performances that season were for the most part terrible. We dodged the drop because Dundee were completely out if their depth. Remember they finished the previous season with a points total closer to the team at the bottom in the league than Ross County who won it. Lennon lucky with Gonsalves? Consider a year later, another loan player - Djemba Djemba turns up and is put straight into the team for a cup tie.He is clearly not fit, he can't run. What happened before that game? Was he not given a fitness test? Or more worryingly and I think this is more likely, he was given a fitness test, he failed it and Danny picked him anyway. I'm sure Danny is a nice enough wee guy but he is not a premier league manager. Remember our defence of the league cup, beaten in the first round at home by a team from a lower league. That was much more typical of Saints during his time.
  8. Off course he would. The idea that he would say yes to Falkirk and no to us is preposterous.
  9. Peter Houston. We should've have gone for him a year ago. If we had I'm pretty sure we'd have dodged the drop. It's the right option now on the basis of better late than never.
  10. That is the first thst struck me. He is a Championship standard player. We play him season after season in the SPL then let him go when we go to the Championship.
  11. Giving Tommy Craig the job was a mistake. Giving him a two year contract was stupidity.
  12. For as long as Stewart Gilmour has been there the policy has been the same right back to sacking Tom Hendie and appointing John Coughlin. They've all been duds - check where they are now if they are still in the game. Who is the last manager we have had who has achieved anything as a manager either before or after being with Saints. After nearly 20 years this is the current board's legacy - an inability to recognise a football manager. If you are reading this board members and disagree with it, then prove me wrong - get in someone who knows what he's doing before you go.
  13. Their rolls. Smashing, just knocked back a couple. Generous spread of Lurpak, couple of bacon rashers in each along with some nice fluffy fried egg. Yum yum.
  14. Mark Howard playing for Sheffield United tonight against Spurs in League Cup semi final. It's live on the T.V.
  15. Former Celtic player Scott McDonald has been released from his contract at Millwall to allow him to find another club. He is 31.
  16. One of my favourite Saints game memories was the Morton - 3, St.Mirren - 6 match on New Years Day 1977. Lexy Richardson slotted a fabulous 25 yard top corner effort. It's just a pity there were no TV cameras there.
  17. I'd like to see Conor Newton back on loan until the end if the season. He can't get a game at Rotherham although he seems to be fit; he's on the bench every week.
  18. Remember when he got pally with an ex St.Mirren player in an episode of Outnumbered
  19. Hewer is the manager of Countdown and we won't get him for free. Rachel is in charge of compensation negotiations. We'd end up paying a fortune, the details of which she'd work out in her head while SG was trying for a sly look at her diddies.
  20. Remember Iain Munro, he was manager for a day. Our record during his tenure: Played = 0, goals for = 0, goals against = 0, own goals = 1.
  21. C'mon Stewart, this is our 9th consecutive season in the top flight. It's a decent run for a team like us, in fact it's a great run for a team like us. It will inevitably come to an end at some point, but don't let it be like this - with a miserable whimper and a barely noticeable shrug. Surely we're better than that - give us a chance. Bring in someone who knows how to manage a football team and can squeeze something out of the players we have. Someone who can give us something that we, as fans, can get behind. If we are going to go down at least lets us have our pride intact. Carrying on as we are just now is just throwing in the towel, after 9 years, that's not enough - we need more; anyone would.
  22. Are you reading this Stewart Gilmour? It's up to you. Are you going to get us a manager? Or are you going to leave it until it is too late?
