buddie got a reaction from waldorf34 in Danny Says No More Signings
Plenty of people on here urging Saints to wait until end of July/start of August before signing any 'big name' players so we can avoid a few weeks wages. I'm aware this could mount up to a few thousand but unless we sign them up now they will go to a club that are willing to start paying now. Simple. -

An update from Danny's Diary. He isn't ruling out bring in more players but he actually says we have good competition for left back and striker positions. The two players mentioned for left back are Sean Kelly and David Barron. I for one wouldn't be comfortable going into a season with Barron as first pick left back, nor would it be wise to put all the pressure on Kelly or Yaqub. In terms of Strikers, he states the fact Guy has just left but apparently we still have good competition for this role? Parkin, Guy and Smith are all gone so now we rely on Reilly and Thompson? Unless I'm wrong I can't think of another player (maybe Brady?) who could come in and play at the level we need him to? I'm aware this is press talk but still, I'd rather see us sorting things out sooner rather than later!

A player like Adeboya Akinfenwa. If love to see him f**k up players like Webster and McPake. 16 stone of sheer muscle!

Really like what I've seen of Doran, looks an exciting prospect. Maybe we could look at getting a couple of lads on loan to cover these positions? A young winger who can take over from Teale and perhaps a centre back? I'm sure Newcastle could sort is out. Surely this year though we need to sign a left back on a 2 year deal? -

Indeed.I'm not sure we can rely on Teale running the right flank for another full season either. He's been the fittest player at the club since he joined, but he's 35 this month and will pick up an injury at some point. Unless DL plans on playing Barron at RB and Vanzy at RM in that situation, he'll require cover.
We don't have an out-and-out left mid either, only Harkins can play there but he's spent most of his career at CM. I think this will be Kieran Doran's breakthrough season so maybe he'll be cover at LM...

We need a left back, another striker, and, ideally, cover for central defence as it will be touch and go as to whether McGregor will make the return we all hope he will.
Anything short of the above would be concerning.
I'm very much in favour of properly blooding young players, but we need depth in key areas. We're sorted in the middle (assuming no-one leaves) but defence remains a concern, and, if Guy moves on, we would be too heavily reliant upon 34 year old Sir Steven of Thommohawk to do the business up front week in, week out.

I think it's all but confirmed we won't be going for Simonsen. David Cornell and Christopher Dilo seem to be the 2 who are heading to Paisley. -

That's correct,we can all keep our fingers crossed. I hope there not playing the offside rule at training.

I see Ross County are chasing the ex Chelsea left back Ben Gordon who was on loan at Kilmarnock for a while. Surely he could do a job for us, liked what he did at Killie. He's also a free agent.

East Fife expected to speak with Nacho Novo?!! Surely he would be worth a one year deal?

Twitter page 'inside the SPL' has us linked with a move for Scott Arfield. Other interested parties are thought to include Ross County, St Johnstone and The Rangers.

Dan Twardzik won't be signing, he's absolutely gash.
McInnes got shot of him as soon as he was in the door, recent quote about him; "We felt, that for loads of reasons, Dan Twardzik won't make an impact with us."

Personally I'd like to see a 2 year deal or at least a year with the option of an extra year.

SFL first division just tweeted that were looking to bring Michael McGovern in for next season .. I've always thought he's been good when I've seen him!

Again, I think Nicky Clark would be a good signing but it does appear Sevco have him top of their list. That being said, I'd really like to see us do what we can to bring in Stevie May, he been in superb form this season, easpecially in the last few weeks!

Saw today on twitter that Lee Miller was saying goodbye to the Carlisle fans. He's out of contract at the end of the season and still only 29, could he provide us with something different?

buddie reacted to foxbar_bud in Speculation Thread
We have Gowser, McGinn, Newton, Robertson and Goodwin who can all play in the middle. If Kenny goes I wouldnt want us to waste any cash on signing someone for the sake of it.

So Paul Dummett looks set to re-join us on loan for 6 months. However, I think Carey would be very unlucky to drop out of the team if he came back. Played extremely well last two games! The other thing, we could sign Dummett on a PCA as his contract with Newcastle expires in June.

However, now we know Dummett won't be returning, a left back has to be brought in ASAP. Dummett out of contract in summer maybe a PCA could be put his way?
