  1. Lets see how Killie get on with the 3 year deals they have been handing out! Its just the way it is for most teams in Scottish Football these days. Recruitment is a huge part of the managers job because of the amount of turnover of players there is each season. Our recruitment over the last 2-3 seasons has been really poor. The centre back issue hasn't been addressed since McPherson left. Over reliance on Thompson for years which I think caused him to miss most of last season which in turn relegated us. Signing diddies and paying them off a few months later will cut into the budgets. It maybe doesn't explain the bad starts but it has played a huge part in our decline.
  2. We'd be bankrupt by now with all the rotten players we'd have to pay off. Danny was brilliant with the young players and developing them but when it came to bringing in players he was very hit and miss. Thats me being kind to the legend!
  3. Yeah was impressed. I don't think Jim was being nasty, he was trying to keep the 2 young guys switched on. Ian just gave him a wee word and credit to Jim he acknowledged it. From what I seen there didn't seem to be much of a falling out. Would have been easy for Jim to blank his manager. Can't help but think if Goody started v Dumbarton we would not have lost.
  4. We need to get McMullan involved a lot more. He seems to be the one with a creative spark in the final third. His final ball is poor but that can be worked on. I'd try him in behind Thommo and give McLear a shot on the right.
  5. It was when Kelly punted the ball out the park under no pressure n Jim said f**k sake Sean try keeping it on this island . Murray shouted to Jim to lay off him a bit ,the team was under constant threat at this point, and Jim said ok fair enough. Ian Murray was really encouraging to the players. Although he shouted to Conlan we are 55 minutes in, you haven't sharpened up yet, c'mon. 2 minutes later he was sent off!
  6. Was a great prospect at United. Ability has never been in question. It all comes down to his fitness. In fact I think he got sent off for United in the 4-1 pumping on boxing day a couple of years ago.
  7. This guy is 20/21? Just moved up from a different country and trying to settle in to a new environment and a new team that is being put together by a new manager. Give him a break and show him encouragement. Can't believe our fans sometimes. He was getting dogs abuse and didn't even do much wrong. Looks like we have found our new boo boy target though.
  8. I noticed at the start of last season after the summer break Goodwin seemed to have lost a yard of pace and he was never the quickest anyway. I think he would be a great sweeper in behind Baird and Kelly. Don't think he's got the legs for midfield anymore.
  9. Don't think it was just a case of him leaving Aberdeen and signing for us straight away. This move has been on the go all summer. Few factors to take in. He has a young family up in Aberdeen who will have been at school ect so he has to uproot them, find a school down here for them to go to. Also Aberdeen were in Europe, if 1 of their keepers got injured he would have been required to either go on the bench or play. Finally done though and I think its a great signing for us. Highest clean sheet holder in SPL history, experienced enough to coach Ridgers, not only that he can challenge him for the no1 jersey. He spotted me wearing my Saints top in Viennas on a night out after the football. Aberdeen played Celtic in Glasgow, MacDonald dived to get a penalty so he was still a bit bitter. He kissed my Saints badge and said f**k the Old Firm, he is a legend in my eyes already!
  10. I was desperate for Mallan to take that free kick last night because I had him on to score anytime but even I had to admit it was positioned better for a left footer. Mallan will get his chances this season though and he'll create and score plenty .
  11. Samson done very well for us but he wasn't perfect. When you look back we conceded a lot of long range efforts when he was in goals. Langfield is a better keeper with more experience and fits the coach part too. Would be great if we got either though.
  12. Maybe they got the guys name from the facebook post. Sounds very positive though.
  13. What if he said he expects us to win the league and the best Rangers can hope for is a play off spot? He'd be wheeled away in a padded jacket . Maybe he could of said Rangers are favourites but we are looking to make it as hard as possible for them to win the league. Plus its the Sun, who cares about that rag.
  14. He scored 3 and Ricky Robb scored 1! Remember him? I think we were 3-0 down at half time, pulled it back to 3-3 then Falkirk went ahead and we equalised again?
  15. Did Iwelumo not score a hat trick on his debut?
  16. We could be waiting to see how Premiership teams get on with signings. Every time a StJohnstone or Killie make a signing someone gets pushed down the pecking order, meaning they will sit on the bench/stand collecting their wage or want to drop a level for first team football. Can see this going to the last week in August, maybe even to the deadline.
  17. Not great but its a start. We are quick to have a go at the guys who run our game for not branching out/sell our product so they deserve credit here. Hopefully they lap it up and we can talk bigger £££ if they want to renew the deal. Will be interesting to see what the viewing figures will be like. I wonder if clubs will start to sign some chinese players to generate a bit more interest, even if they are rotten.
  18. Maybe the fact he is on trial now and having to prove himself might give him a wee kick up the back side. I think the fact he is still trying to win a deal here and nobody else has signed him says a lot though. He has had a couple of serious injuries and hasn't been able to regain the confidence. The club are partly to blame too, he should have been loaned out to lower league clubs so he could regain fitness and form. Falls into the trap of being too good for the youth team but not ready for the first team.
  19. In fact did Ian McCaldon not make a wonder save in the relegation battle v United in 2000/2001? Pretty sure he came on as a sub and made one of the best saves I have ever witnessed. Best save against us was Goram for Motherwell in a cup game. Pretty sure it was a point blank header going into the top corner and he still managed to tip it round the post.
  20. Ludo produced a few cracking saves at East End Park in 99/00 then Nicholson scored a late header to steal a point. Can't remember 1 save in particular that stands out over the years. Campbell Money will surely get a mention at some point.
  21. I think they will be using that section for the smaller away supports. Easier and cheaper to police. County have been put in there a couple of times haven't they?
  22. Players come and go all the time. No player is bigger than our club. If we lose out on a fee, so be it. Bit of a distraction but let's get behind the players who want to play in the famous stripes.
