shull
Plans are being made to introduce a Carbon Charge on lots of travel to encourage reduction in every person's carbon footprint. I never seen this coming. There will be extra charge or tax on tickets for buses, planes and trains. It will be voluntary, at first Although those who don't pay will be made to feel extremely guilty about destroying the planet.
shull
Man Made Climate Change experts want to start giving names to Heatwaves in the same way they name all the windy and wet days. I wonder why they are doing this.

Glad to be of help. I'm here all week.

shull
Lots of heatwaves in the late 1960's that I can remember while on school holidays. Plenty more in the 1970's , 80's , 90's and right up to the present day. There was no need need to name any of them then. We had a glorious 4 month long heatwave last summer it has also remained nameless. Everybody in my Cab yesterday were happy with the superb sunshine not one mentioned the end of the planet. Happy days.

I really feel very guilty now , as my Carbon Footprint spirals way out of control. I shouldn't have consumed those Beef Olives last night. Anyway. I had email contact with main dude from the Independent Report. We now have a name for the latest heatwave THE SWEATY BETTY HOTSPOT . oaksoft
12 hours ago, shull said: You have finally posted something interesting on this subject which I can genuinely comment on with some experience. He talks about computational models which have been parameterised to match the climate over a period 1915 to 1945 or thereabouts (can't recall the exact dates he said). Parameterisation is a very common technique in computational modelling and it is pretty much unavoidable for very complex systems which can't be modelled exactly. The problem with parameterisation is that it is highly sensitive to initial data you are fitting your parameters to. If this guy is right, that in the baseline period mentioned, the climate could not have been changing because man hadn't put enough CO2 into the atmosphere at that point, then the results from using that sort of model are going to be potentially useless. So the key question is how those computer modellers are justifying that choice of base data range to fit to. This does NOT mean man made climate change isn't a thing. It just means the prediction tools MIGHT be churning out shite. Interestingly he points to a Russian model which pretty closely matches actual climate data whereas those models used in the West appear to grossly diverge. A good model first needs to agree with historic data. THEN and only then can you use it to make predictions about the future. Interesting stuff and nice to hear from a genuine expert for a change rather than the usually Wayne's World-esque idiots you usually link to.
