More suppressed memories are coming back - in the build up to the penalty we were hammering them 0-1 - did durie not go close with a header? I reckon if we had pulled level we would have won it. 🙁 They came out after half time and stepped up the pace, all over us, great cross, Shearer.......................0-1, 53 mins. Having to steady the boat right now, Goram just made an astounding save, 59 mins.

Annoying when you know McCoist or Collins would have tucked it away The problem of having a selected penalty taker before the game The said player could be having a poor game but the man trusted to take a pressured kick Don Masson was the same against Peru Still cringe at Hendry though always on his arse diving in

Seen it plenty of times, players having a nightmare, you can see it in their eyes before they kick the ball. Really annoying, that would almost have certainly got us a draw and we'd have got to the last 8. England had a decent team as well.

The noise made by the Scotland Fans was fantastic. Even had England fans applauding. You needed to be there.
faraway saint
England v West Germany, World Cup Final today shown in it's entirety today on Ch4. As far as I'm aware the whole game, including the build up etc, never been shown since the day. No doubt Thicky was there with his imaginary pals. StanleySaint
I seem to have a gap in my consciousness between 1965 and 1967 that I have no wish be reminded of.

faraway saint
Geoff Hurst makes a massive clanger, describing the first goal against Portugal in the semi final. Bobby Charlton, according to daft old Geoff, side footed the ball into the net from 40 yards. In reality it was just from outside the box, closer to 20 yards IMO. What a daft old fool. St.Ricky
Unless I was utterly bored, I wouldn't be found watching a rerun of the 1966 World Cup Final. Bottom of the barrel stuff.

St.Ricky
Black and white.. Hey.. Colours you have never seen on a football pitch. For you viewers watching in black and white the Englanders are in red.
faraway saint
1-1 at half time, what a keeper Gordon Banks was. This world cup, 1966, was pretty much before my time, don't remember watching any of the games, although my Dad says we did watch the final. The 1970 world cup in Mexico was the first world cup I remember.

The lack of any attempts at time wasting by England, despite being deep into extra time. From the goalie getting the ball back into play straight away, free kicks being taken quickly, a joy compared to todays pish..................being professional it gets called. The state of the pitch, albeit that Wembley had seen plenty of football in a three week spell.
St.Ricky
Now if this had been the 1967 game with keepy uppy by Jim Baxter then it might have been worth viewing.
