I've been "whining" about the tragic "accidents" simply caused by older drivers for years.
Mostly so avoidable.
I'd still advocate a mini test after 70 as the lack of awareness of older drivers and ingrained habits since, well, lots of years ago, should be filtered out to stop the needless injuries and deaths.
I'm all for this. In fact. I would suggest reducing that to every year as we are allowed a yearly eye test under the NHS. They could join up the process and just make that test mandatory for those who want to stay behind the wheel of what can be, after all, a lethal weapon. am nearing that age and still drive for a living. I wear glasses and make sure I get my eyes tested as required. I was finding night driving more difficult so bought prescription anti glare glasses to combat this. They work really well. When I reach the magic age I hope I'll still be driving but, more importantly, driving safely.
