Smfc-On This Day.....

I was at that game. Hal gave me a few comps for me and a couple of my pals. I spoke to Bomber that day outside the players and officials entrance on Love Street. Told him we would stuff them I thought he would get a game that day. Hal, Bomber and I were all regulars in the Stirling Castle in Old Dumbarton Road. Hal really was a great guy and I always found Bomber dead on too. Hated Bomber's team but I always had and still have a fondness for Morton.

I like Morton tae.

I recognise seven names in each team. Some big Celtic names in there. Armour Ashe is a name to conjure with. Wonder if he was a hard bugger.

1977....Div 1.....H....SMFC 1 Hamilton Accies 0.

http://www.stmirrenprogrammes.co.uk/StMirren/STM_Match_Details.php?Season=1976&GameID=1612

This game caused a fair bit of controversy.Saints and Clydebank were neck and neck going for the Title.Bankies were away to QOTS with a 3pm kick off while Saints had decided to make their game a 3:30pm kick off. This was because the Glasgow Ugly Sisters played that day with a lunch time start and Saints thought they could increase the crowd by waiting for them to finish.Bankies drew 2-2 and the Love St Tannoy Man decided to announce the result to the crowd.Surprisingly the players heard it too and went right up the park and scored a last minute winner. This didn't go down to well with Accies or Clydebank and we were reported for it.Cant remember if there was any punishment for it but the points were in the bag.:)

Saints Star.....John Mowat

There was also a Flag Day on the morning of the Match to raise money for our Club.

Many fans including me and my mate walked the streets of Paisley, Collecting Cans in hand . S.O.S. ( Save our Saints ). Stickers were given out to generous Buddies around the Town.

Approximately £1000 was raised for our wonderful Club that day.

Rick will be along shortly!!

You and Charlotte Saint are both like John Conte's brother, Cheeky. I think I was playing for our pub team that day. Don't really remember.

Rick's bullshittin again.

He was never in a PUB team in 1926.

He was barely a teenager, then.
