  2. Being an exiled Buddie I can only base opinion on results, reports and forum comments. I am curious but is there any mileage in that our upturn in form has coincided with Sean Kelly's return? As memory serves when Naismith and Kelly were our full back combination last season we hit a bit of form...
  3. I have to be honest in my opinion that there are a lot who feel it is to early for the "new" management team but, for me, they were part of the previous regime and, to that end, the manager especially has no time. I, like many, was not happy with the appointment and how it came about. This view has not changed and I don't believe things will improve to the extent that we will survive. We've been on the slippery slope since our cup win with cost cutting at the forefront of this. The evidence at this early stage speaks volumes: 0-1 v a what has proved to be a poor Motherwell side 0-2 and 0-1 v both promoted sides at home 0 points, 0 goals and I believe they will get harder to come by as season progresses. I would dearly love to be proved wrong but I feel, even at this early stage, that a change is needed at management level in order to get the best out of a decent squad. I don't consider myself to be a "knicker wetter" just realistic in my opinion. But as I said I would love to be proved wrong.......
  4. At this point I will reserve judgement on the season ahead. What I do find significant, however, is the fact that the manager has acted swiftly on the trialists. In previous seasons we have had players on trial for weeks and ultimately came to nothing leaving us on the back foot and consequently making rash, panic signings. Having watched the team the other night, albeit against much lower opposition, they looked confident, comfortable in possession and worked well as a team. Ball, for all he is a big lad and obviously lacking in fitness, worked hard, used the ball well and took his goals with aplomb. For me he was worth a contract which he ultimately got. A good quick decision by the manager and his team. Same applied to Caldwell. What also impressed me was the contribution of youngsters on show. Not one of them looked out of place and all of them were comfortable on the ball and with their distribution. This can hopefully set us off on a much better foot than last season. I'm not expecting too much but what I believe we do have is a good balance within the squad with different options if required.
  5. Enjoyed the wee night out with my son. Hard to judge considering the opposition but, as they say, can only beat what's in front of you. McLean and Tess were a class apart. The big striker worked hard, held ball up well and scored four. For me worth a punt but was carrying a bit of timber as the negative.
  6. SAINTS SIGN STRIKER PELLE Headline on Sky Sports page!!! If only, eh? Saying that if this was the case he'd probably still do a job for us
  7. Thomson/Money (nothing between them for me) Alex Beckett Iain Munro Bobby Reid John McCormack Tony Fitzpatrick Lex Richardson Billy Abercromby John McGinn Frank McGarvey Doug Somner Subs: Peter Weir Jimmy Bone Ricky Gillies ( on the basis on his one man effect to keep us up) Charlie Adam Jackie Copland
  8. Seemed a little resigned to his fate in his interview. But dignified as always. Good, honest man. Sadly a rarity in modern day football.....
  9. Really torn as my thoughts on Danny. Is it a case of "better the devil you know"? Gain a bit of stability and hopefully take lessons from mistakes this season? Who comes in if he does go? I am really angry with timing of boards non statement and the fact they were invisible as Danny (rightly so a lot this season) took extensive flak! They, for me have a lot to answer for!!! Typical St Mirren!
  10. I have been to a couple of games where Sian Massey (if I'm not mistaken the one who Andy Gray got the sack for his comments about her) was running the line. To be fair to her she is a good official and has been bang on with offside and controversial decisions. She regularly officiated in EPL now which is a testament to her ability. No reason to think that the one on Saturday will be any different.....
  11. What concerns me about all this is that now we are safe Gilmore comes out of his shell and gives interviews. When we were struggling, playing dire stuff and in danger of the drop he was nowhere to be seen or heard. He sat back and let Danny take a hell of a lot of flak. Flak that was deserved I might add. I'm neither here nor there if Danny stays or goes but the chairman, for me, has not covered himself in glory this season and have very little respect for him in this scenario.
  12. I appreciate there's a hypothetical thread about this. But I've just read hearts v killie report and says we can no longer finish 11th. I don't know the permutations, but if this is the case well done boys And phew!!
  13. The horrendous statistics for this year alone speak volumes. Take sentiment, happy clapping, nice guy, call it what you will out of the equation. Change is needed NOW! I fear a step back to 20 years of oblivion and not just because of Lennon but (another) self righteous BOD.....
  14. The heat is back on again. Danny had a breather last week with all the Djemba Djemba furore. But back to business as usual. I'd love to be a fly on the wall at half time in dressing room, as we come out in second half like strangers and is costing us games! Very frustrating.
  15. What is wrong with us at the start of second half of games??? We are headless chickens all over the place! This is a common theme now
  16. The guy plays the character well and one of the better segments of the show. I wonder if this is on the back of the Djemba Djemba signing??
  17. Poor on so many levels! * a manager who can't motivate or organise his team, tactically inept and can single handedly turn games against us with dreadful decision making * a board who have lost their tongues over this whole debacle if a season! Funny that, eh? * players, and some good ones at that, clueless and bereft of ideas on the pitch A sad state of affairs when we had the opportunity to kick on after cup success. I hate to say it but our Mis management has finally caught up with us and there's nothing anyone is going to do about it. Even if Danny does go what is a new manager going to do being as transfer window is all but over. As like 1987 success follows implosion and years in the wilderness. Watch this space.......
  18. Even the players seemed bamboozled with half time sub. Including the sub himself!! Hearts took advantage of this straight away with a cracking goal to be fair and the guy who scored totally bossed midfield second half. I hope there is some explanation as to that bizarre change as that IMO cost us 2 valuable points when you consider the other results. Hey go back home to Banbury we go....
  19. 3 league games without scoring.........is that a concern?
